Great video thanks!! And I’m waiting for your video about limitation of RPM. I’m in Canada, Montreal. But I’ve got nothing heard about that shitty situation yet. It’d be appreciate that you make the video for that.
@PeterLoweOne
@PeterLoweOne Год назад
So I will make a video about this as the bike gets closer to arriving. This is just my assumption right now... but here's what I see happening... If you bought a ZX-6R and put an aftermarket exhaust on it, it would be louder than Kawasaki would be able to sell the bike in its stock form. There's nothing stopping you from putting on that pipe, and you assume the risk for any issues with noise etc. So I assume that the Canadian ZX-4R and RR will have to meet Canadian regulations for noise from a new vehicle, and that's why Kawasaki has chosen to limit the RPM instead of change any components. What I assume will happen is that you'll be able to unlock that performance as a customer... That would be a choice that YOU make as the owner of the bike, and you then assume any risk or penalties from a bike that may be noisier than Canadian regulations allow for a new vehicle. Honestly, these bikes will be available in such few numbers, they won't have any issue selling them to people who will go that route of unlocking the bike. If I'm right, Kawasaki isn't going to advertise that this is the way to do things... because they won't advertise how to get around regulations... but that's what I see happening. We'll see if I'm right or not. I'll probably make a video about this in the future, but I'm just waiting to see if there is an official answer from Kawasaki Canada in the coming months.

Great video!! Learned more there than any of the other zx4r videos. Kawasaki website can be tough to use at times. This bike looks fun to ride. I'd like to put one in the garage next to zx14r. I was hoping the price would be 5-10% lower than you stated. I think the really interesting part of this will be the aftermarket and tuners results after they get it. Thanks for the info!! I subscribed so keep us posted!!

Yeah, this bike really intrigues me. I think Kawasaki is really tapping into a market that will want this bike. I don't think it will be a high volume seller (in part because Kawasaki won't give us too many) but I think those who have these are going to love them! I'm really looking forward to digging deeper into this bike, and I can't wait to see it for the first time!

These bikes are going to be insane. The price reflects this. I'll be interested to see how they measure up to their bigger brother, the ZX6R. Will you guys be stocking the CFMoto motorcycles in house!? Those are really gaining some traction. The 450SS is the best bang for the buck on the market.

Any comments/knowledge about Kawasaki's wording on their site saying: "The Ninja ZX-4R and Ninja ZX-4RR have max power of 11,500 rpm in Canada due to noise regulations."? This is very concerning if they're gimping power or revs for Canada. Complete deal breaker for me. Edit: received the following from my dealer: "Just got off the phone with my Rep. so looks like the max RPM is 11500 which will have reduced power compared to the European model. North American EPA regulations is what restricts this. There is definitely going to be a method to open it up to 16000 rpm, but it could potentially void warranty. Maybe driving it stock for a year could work for you, then doing this mod??" So there's going to be a workaround for those that want it.
@PeterLoweOne
@PeterLoweOne Год назад
I'm going to dig into that. Lowering the highest revs would cut maximum horsepower, in my mind, so I want to know more about this as well. I'll see if I can get answers, and then make a video about that. I think, as Canadians, that's the biggest question that we're all going to have about this bike. Trust me, I'm on it! Great question! Feel free to subscribe so you don't miss things when I find out more.

@quintonmacdougall7150
@quintonmacdougall7150 Год назад
@@PeterLoweOne It's not an interesting one, it is a stupid one. Coming from the factory this will be slower than the z400 while costing more. And the only way to get the 'full' power is to void the warranty to increase the RPM. If that is the case this is a hard pass for me. Which sucks since I was very excited for this bike only to be let down after 2 years of waiting. This is a huge disappointment.
@PeterLoweOne
@PeterLoweOne Год назад
@@quintonmacdougall7150 I'm taking more of a wait and see approach. It won't be slower than the z400 even with the limitation, but yeah, Kawasaki is going to face some questions about this for sure.
@quintonmacdougall7150
@quintonmacdougall7150 Год назад
@@PeterLoweOne I strongly disagree. The peak torque on the ZX4R is more or less the same as the Z400 but does not have the RPM to get into the 'power band'. The ZX4R @ 11k RPM is just getting going and since it cant rev beyond that does not have access to 30% of the rpm range...which is also the most important part of the RPM range as far as power production. I mean shifting at peak torque is great.....if you are riding a Harley. Perhaps the motor will be configured differently and will come with different camshafts etc. I doubt it though and even if it did, the power level will be still be lower since motors are air pumps and you will pump less air at 11k rpm than 16k rpm. As I said this is greatly disappointing news. Especially since Kawasaki sells several motorcycles in canada that rev well over 11k rpm.

@PeterLoweOne
@PeterLoweOne Год назад
I would expect it to make more than that, but that's just my guess at this point. I also expect it to rev very quickly, so it will get to that max horsepower number much quicker than your 650. This thing will have an entirely different feel than your current bike, far more race ready, far more immediate with it's power, handling, everything.
@KellerFkinRyan
@KellerFkinRyan Год назад
@@PeterLoweOne it would actually be a first bike, I just think the n650 is a little lacking in power. I have about 2k miles on a 2019 n650 but about 4k miles on a z125. im basically between the zx4rr and the r7. theyre almost opposites, with the zx4rr rumored to have more hp but only 26.5 ftlbs of torque, meanwhile the r7 makes like 65 ftlbs and in the high 40's throughout the majority of the power band. im afraid the zx4rr will be too peaky and in need of being rung out if I want to take it on the highway
@PeterLoweOne
@PeterLoweOne Год назад
@@KellerFkinRyan Yeah, I think you'll find that they're very different bikes with a completely different feel. The ZX-4RR isn't going to be "wrung out" but to make it's 400 CC's it has relatively large cylinders moving a very short distance... That means that the bike will be very capable of revving quickly and to very high rpms. So, again, they will have a very different feeling.
@sterlingroberts6240
@sterlingroberts6240 Год назад
Top speed on the ZX4r will likely be above 140 mph. At 70 mph, it should be at or under 8,000rpm. It revs to 16,000, or 50% of the tach. You’ll be fine on the highway, and you’ll have the benefit of being in or very close to the powerband. It will sound much better and vibrate less. The ZX4R is a very special bike. There will come a day when many people will regret not having bought or ridden one. That said, the R7 is more practical. I know which I’d choose.
@KellerFkinRyan
@KellerFkinRyan Год назад
@@sterlingroberts6240 meh, the r7 would be a fantastic bike, but who gets an small displacement L4 for practicality? not me, although i bet it'd be a little better than a zx6r solely due to the ergos if we are going the practical daily rider route

@@sterlingroberts6240 There is a turbo-charged ZX25R made by TrackStar that goes 249hp. If that tiny motor can handle a turbo, this one probably can squeeze out 100hp as well. But honestly, on paper it sounds like an amazing bike even without any mods. I had a Ninja 300 for 2 years and loved that bike, even after 20000km I put on it. Wish I never sold it. The better components, modern design and extra power of the inline four 400 would be a keeper for life.

@PeterLoweOne
@PeterLoweOne Год назад
That's still something I'm looking into and should know by the next video. I do think that people get a little too caught up in top speed. The difference in Kawasaki Sport bikes in acceleration is FAR greater than the difference in actual top speed. It'll go beyond 200 km/h for sure, but how quickly it accelerates will be the real factor. They could gear this thing to have a crazy high top speed, but they're not going to do that, top speed isn't what wins races, it's the acceleration that wins. That's where this bike will be excellent!
