Coming out of a 2008 Acura, the interior doesn’t bother me one bit. Looking at other cars more modern than this as far as interiors go, I don’t feel like I’m missing out on much. Sure, they have more tech but I think it’s just gimmicky stuff that I’ll probably use the 1st week and then forget I even have it the rest of my time with the car.
Everyone talking about how old this car is , yet Lexus is still selling a ton of these. My dealer had seven allocated back in September, all but one had deposits . None to test drive within a 4 hour drive and four different dealers , I put a deposit on the last one and took delivery in October.
@@mattmc8391 This isn’t one of those times. There isn’t anything crafted about a Lexus IS. This is just an old car that is reliable because it uses 15 year old mechanicals. That is hardly impressive. No car in this class is falling apart either. So it’s whatever you need to tell yourself I guess in order to justify a laughably outdated car.
@@MercOne Sorry, I disagree with you . Panel gaps , paint rubbing off of interior pieces and buttons ( looking at you Mercedes ) direct injection carbon issues, turbo problems… we are living in that time . I’m in and out of all different makes and models because of my job , direct competitors to this and a lot that are not . I don’t need you to tell me what my justification for buying this car is , I know it’s an old design and I embrace the hell out of it, I also know it is built is Japan where some of the oldest employed “ Takumi “ or “ master craftsmen “ , assemble these cars with care and attention . Only a small fraction will look at the IS and see it the way you do .
@@mattmc8391 No car is suffering from these things on the regular especially at new. Every brand has issues here and there, no brand is perfect. If anything you need to talk to Toyota about carbon issues and turbo problems with the V6 in the LS500, not Mercedes. What I'm saying to you is that a Lexus IS is not some type of hand crafted vehicle that warrants having all it's mechanical bits be over a decade old so it can be well put together. It's BS argument. Even the other tired Asian cars in this class are more advanced and of high quality also. No the entire industry sees it for the old out of date car it is. I own a Lexus IS so I appreciate the quality, but that is NO justification for OUTDATED everything. It's BS. There is literally no reason for me to trade in for a "new" one because there is nothing new about the car in 8+ years. Deliver a modern car with the same quality and they would corner the market, but Toyota can't which is why everything they make is years behind in everything compared to the competition. It's a dullard brand and mindset.
The interior materials are not coming free because their lines are outdated. If the car comes without interior, it should be substracted. Also, I don't understand what the point is in all those peoples claiming the interior is outdated. Where is it exactly outdated ? It has knobs that you can use and they even tacked the mandatory hugly screen. It is perfectly contemporary hugly.
I owned a fully optioned out IS 300. I know the seats are different, but damn. The car does not seem outdated in person. AT ALL. I had kind of similar thoughts, until I actually sat in one. Super super nice car
Toyota/Lexus buyers know why this car is the way it is after all of these years. This company makes legendary products. Check the price on the ‘21 v8 tundra. Even used they are selling for the price of the new ones. Do yourself a favor and buy this car before it gets a turbo and a 20” touch screen. This thing will be worth $40k in 2030
I bought a new 2022 is350 f sport RWD and I love it. The interior is “dated” but doesn’t feel dated and feels really nice. I love the touchpad honestly with the full touchscreen …. There’s no HUD but I honestly hate that function. It bothers my eyes. Seats are really comfortable for my long commute. Car is nice and comfortable but also dynamic and sporty when you want it to be
I will be interested to see what happens with Toyota/Lexus once everything has a turbo (or2). Great looking car, interior dated though. No more inline 6 for Lexus? I loved the one in my 02 is300.
For the moment no more inline 6 for Lexus yes. They co-ed with Mazda for an inline 6, but he is not impressing in any way and seems to be staying at Mazda for now. I believe the next gen could very probably have the 2.2 turbo 4 popper with the hybrid powertrain you will find in the Toyota Crown.
Hey Ben. We watch all your videos, thank you. Just wondering, can you include the vehicle weight with the power and torque outputs? Gives us performance junkies a power to weight idea. Thanks...
Old design is what is making it super reliable. If Lexus put in a new trans or engine, god know what would happen next? If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Otherwise get a bmw or Tesla model 3 performance, both guaranteed sportiness but will not last as long.
I really love the look, but then you look inside and it's 2014. Then under the hood its the same engine from 2006. I really hope there is a true wheels up redesign coming for this car. The styling is gorgeous, but the car is trounced outclassed by everything else in it's class. This review is full of excuses and gloss overs for an tired old car.
Couldn’t have said it better myself. Have been eyeing this new IS 350 with the aggressive styling outside but then the inside just makes cry myself to sleep. It’s just so meh
That's what everyone loves about Toyota/Lexus tho. Great reliability for the price and luxury, hence why so many countries are able to upcharge the land cruisers for 120k+. After all, luxury for the japanese is reliability after all. The only downside tbh is how outdated all of their interiors are but i guess thats how it is if you choose style over function.
@@sgxsaint3130 No one loves that a car because it is underpowered and outdated, they deal with it for so called reliability excuse. Problem is other cars that Toyota makes are more advanced and still reliable, so there is no excuse applicable here. It's just an old car because Toyota doesn't see the point in investing in a new one. Great reliability for the price? The Land Cruiser has nothing to do with this Lexus IS being outdated. You can have a stylish interior that is functional, are you kidding? That's all nonsense man.
@Marcusjj1973 How I see it its always been the trend with Toyota, If you look at all of their cars, especially ones outside of the USDM they all of the exact same trend as the Lexus IS does, Nice fancy exterior with unchanged internals. It's why I compared it to the LC because it has remained unchanged and outdated throughout the years and has only received an update recently. Maybe Toyota has plans for the IS but it doesnt seem likely. I've also been eyeing this car and you have a point with it being outdated, I do think its a "dont fix whats broke" scenario with this sedan. Being that the only other competitor of this car is the Kia Stinger and having no new releases in my country since 2019, it only leaves one choice for us lol.
@@pinkyandthebrain99rwd is paired to an eight speed. awd is paired to a six speed. the rear wheel drive gives the car more linear power. this is a good car. quiet cabin, very comfortable, decently quick, very stylish
@@pinkyandthebrain99 still underpowered and ima Lexus owner, they need to twin turbo that v6 engine and stretch it a little bit because its still not beating the Infiniti Q50 redsport 400 or the bmw 340i,thats my only problem with Lexus right now, they need to put the LS 500 twin turbo v6 in this
Yeah, nice car. No worry about reliability on that car. I wouldn't need or require AWD, but it's nice they offer that. You talk to fast, as if you don't want to review the car, but just zoom through it.
So strange! Electronic adjustment is standard here in Aus. Also mate if you like Lexus reviews, I have plenty and a few with the IS350 😄 Feel free to check it out 😊
What performance!? LMAO 🤣 The is350 is as fast as a Camry v6 or accord 2.0 yet it’s dated smaller less practical and way overpriced over those two. What good is RWD dynamics if you don’t get any power? You can have significantly more fun in a dodge Charger for the same price. Heck the price of an is350 can get you a scat pack w 485hp and a significantly better transmission
Dodge will breakdown and sounds like a mess. IS is leagues ahead in reliability and this is made in Tahara plant where they make LS, GX, and RC F, LC 500 & 4Runner.
@@kyle_decarlo I wish they came to Australia! Also mate if you like Lexus reviews, I have plenty and a few with the IS350 😄 Feel free to check it out 😊
