2023 Mazda CX-50 Meridian Edition | A Modern Day Tribute? 

Another stellar review! As someone with a short attention span, you manage to capture all the highs and lows within a very reasonable time frame. When reviews are 20+ mins it’s easy to lose track and takes a lot of my little free time. As someone from SoCal where we have pleasant weather year round, I’m awfully jealous of the Northeast this time of year and it’s foliage.

I love that Mazda is offering AWD Standard! Some people have a hard time realizing that Mazda is a Premium Brand now and it shows in their vehicles! I’m not a CUV Fan but, I’m definitely considering a CX-50. It’s such an attractive vehicle!💚

Knowing what I know about Jeeps, Broncos and Subaru engines this seems like a no brainer. The SkyActive engine is one of the most reliable engines out there and has much more power than its competitors. This was on the top f my list but after your review I see a Premium Plus CX 50 in my future instead. Thanks for the great review

Hi! Nice video. I was at a Quebec dealer the other day and their demo had a mat in the back compartment that covered all the way up to the top of the back seat. It wal velcroed to the carpet. It was OEM.

I like it, but I wouldn’t want the hood graphics. Mazda should offer those wheels and tires as a purchase option on other trims.

I would much rather hear a review of what it actually is, not what it isn't. It wasn't built to be a hard core off roader. It is very nice for what it is supposed to be.

This control knob is awesome ! Big reason why this Entertainment system is so awesome . Touch screen is 1990s tech with many issues, specially when on any kind of rougher roads ....

Better than the CX5 is purely subjective. The CX5 turbo interior is more premium with the same features as the CX50 and costs less. The CX50 also has fake engine noise....odd that wasn't called out but the skyactive was called out in the vid. Both great cars though.

My only beef in Mazda’s vehicles? The automatic transmission is only a 6-speed. Most of CX-50’s competitors have either an 8-speed or CVT if it’s Honda, Subaru, or Nissan.

by the way the mountain peak and snowflake means its a winter tire rating,,not a '' suitable for'' but an actual winter tire . yes its a 4 seasons but more for winter use and some light off-road duty,goes with the car anyway. compared to a subaru(outback) or others its about 75% what they are capable.

I like the looks of the Meridian edition but a Bronco Sport can actually do some off roading along with others like the Cherokee so it's going to be a bit of a tough sell I'm thinking.

Those cup holders seems like the would be a pain in the but. No clearance between the phone and drinks. 😮

This looks pretty nice but I wonder how well it will do with the premium price they want for it. I like many Mazda products and have owned 3 of them. But it seems they are in trouble and the lineup has issues. No 6 anymore, this which is priced right at the very top of the mainstream compact SUV market. A CX 5 that is attractive but is only ok in many areas. I wonder if Mazda will survive.

Needs more interior cargo and space. You can do a luxurious look but if supposed to be off road you really need more rustic touches, such as brushed steel, wood, and even more wash out capable interior. Good try but this does not win over the Subaru Crowd which is half second quicker with more cargo room, higher ground clearance. The list goes on.

Mazda needs to stop it with the black plastic body cladding. Their cars are too elegant to have that crap slapped onto the wheel arches. I bet this car in fully painted trim would look so nice. Great Review!

lol ALL new car sales have declined steeply. Mazda is not sliding, it had record sales in April but current situation is due to what's called a supply shortage. Might want to look that up.

I See several of these prolly 2 in my small town. Personally I like that CX5 Better. Id get a Subaru if i wanted something off road. Did You Say Topspeed? Your not Test Drive now?

You aren't joking when you spoke of how lousy the Mazda infotainment system is. While on a recent road trip, my wife's CX-5 with android auto was so frustrating to use due to not being able to touch the screen. Controlling everything with the knob is supposed to be less distracting...ok. At one point I really loved Mazda's, but in the last 5 years their offerings and decision making have gone so far downhill.

Have 21 cx5 grand Turing reserve like it next will be cx50 as for Subaru hate the cvt Jeep quality sucks

I bought a new 2021 Mazda CX-5. I believe the CX-50 has the same engine. It has burned engine oil from day one and getting progressively worse. I looked up and found a bulletin for my car to be repaired. I took it in and they agreed that my car fell under that bulletin according to the VIN but, that I had to wait for the engine light to come on. By my calculation that won't happen until one oil change after my warranty is up. Don't take a chance and buy Mazda’s. They don't stand by their product unlike Honda. Mazda will do whatever it takes to avoid paying to fix the problem, even when they themselves admit that there's a problem. My advice, stick to Hondas and Toyotas. I’ve had problems with their cars in the past but, they always fixed my warranty issues without question and after that they ran forever. Don’t fall for talking point that Toyota and Mazda are now collaborating and even use the same assembly line. It means nothing. There's a class action lawsuit against them (Haven't responded). I personally have filed with the Mazda, BBB, Attorney General, and a consumer agency. It's been two weeks and nothing. I'm lining up a lawyer as my last resort. Don't go through this hell, buy a Toyota or Honda instead.

Too many compromises. Lower roof line limits headroom, back seat no longer reclines, torsion beam rear suspension instead of IRS, 60/40 rear seat instead of 40/20/40, higher priced than a CX-5 Signature too, etc. For the same price or less an Outback Wilderness XT has more room, is a LOT FASTER, and is better riding and more premium feeling. I think Mazda missed the mark. Good effort but too much cost cutting without a savings for the customer.

About $10,000 too much
