My wife’s versa finally came in on the 27th. Not gonna lie it’s a fun car to drive. I’m a larger guy, 6’2” and 250 lbs. and there is plenty of room for me. I have put 370 miles on it so far and couldn’t believe I could fill it up for 25 bucks. I’m used to driving trucks and suv that cost almost a 100 bucks to drive the same distance. Took me a bit to get used to the clutch in first but got it figured out now. Thanks for the videos as you helped me make my decision for a commuter car when doing my research.

I think its because of weoght being so low. I always preffer driving slow cars fast. You can ring them out more and feel more. We got stupidly lost in power numbers and kust basic good fun of light, moderately powerful cars got lost across the board. Versa is one of few last light econo-boxes to be like this.

You are the absolute authority on the versa manual. Nobody covers them better than you. Thank you for that! I do disagree on your philosophy on pushing oil change intervals though. If you take any high mileage engine and pull the valve cover off, you can always tell if it had long or neglected oil changes. You see the varnish or even sludge. And the valvetrain, of course, is just the tip of the iceberg! All this may not matter much to you because you tend to not keep them very long. As for myself, personally, I'd change oil and filter every 5 thousand miles with full synthetic. Pull the valve cover on that engine in 200 thousand miles, and all you'd see is bright shiny metal and no visible wear.
@youtoobe169
@youtoobe169 23 дня назад
Thanks for the kind words about my videos! By the way I had one car I changed the oil every 14K miles (with good oil) and it still looked brand new under the valve cover at 200K miles and still didn't burn a drop of oil. I did have the oil analyzed and they said 14K was a good interval. That was a lot of highway driving though.
@jonell1425
@jonell1425 23 дня назад
@youtoobe169 You're welcome, you're the best! Highway driving only puts a fraction of the strain on an engine than how it appears you drive this car. In this case, I would DEFINITELY not go 14 thousand miles.

I was lucky to find a somewhat new forester in the manual but if I couldn't find any used cars in the manual this is what I would buy. I know Nissan doesn't have the best reputation anymore but all car companies have figured out reliable manuals not so much on the CVT's except for maybe Toyota. I appreciate this video and I hope you do more videos about how this car holds up economy cars do not get a lot of love content-wise.

What I like the most about my 2024 Versa S 5MT besides the fuel economy is the slight surge in power when you shift into 3rd from second as you are giving it gas. I know it is not a high horsepower or torque car but given that it is a lighter vehicle, you really don't need that much power to feel the surge. The 5 Speed manual Versa is 130 lbs lighter than the CVT model.

The stalling you observe seems to be common on various nissan model, a car show in Québec talked about it several times. I’m trying to talk my wife into letting me get a new manual Versa, to trade in my Altima in oneone of these. I hate my Altima, it’s a 2021 and startinf having transmission issues at roughly 60k miles. She won’t let me get one though, she says it’ll have to be something not manual. You’re lucky man, I envy anyone who can get one of these. My local dealership quoted me over $8000 for a new cvt. I hate my Altima… one of the biggest mistakes I’ve made as far as cars go. To make an analogy: years ago my dad had a late 60's buick as his everyday beater car and he had a newer early 80s Cadillac as his weekend car. The buick had dents and rust and whatnot, the Caddy was gorgeous. But the Caddy gave him a million problems while the Buick was just a simple reliable car. And to top it off, one day it dawns on him that the Buick actually drives better, has more power/responsiveness, better ride quality, and is just more pleasurable to drive. So he ditched the Cadillac. Not saying the 2023 manual Versa is an objectively better car than any number of pricier cars, but subjectively, I like it a lot more than many other new cars. It's a hell of a lot more fun to drive than some big wonky SUV, it has a heck of a nicer ride than some short wheelbase economy car would have, it doesnt have the vagueness of a CVT nor the "searching for gears" of one of those new 8 speed transmissions... i could go on. But there's not too many new (or new-ish) cars I've driven that dont have (or lack) something that makes me think "I'd rather be driving the Versa..." I also showed my Versa to my mechanic friend btw, and he loved it, particularly the lack of failure points compared to most new cars. I can think of some cars I'd rather have, but for the most part, they dont make them anymore. This one just feels "right".
