Just bought a slightly used 2023 OBW and your very detailed video is what made me pull the trigger! Thank you for all that very interesting info! Subaru should give you a cut! 😜
Congrats on the Wilderness! Glad my video helped with the decision! Tell your sales person to send me a bird dog for doing heavy lifting for them, haha!
Hi Tyson, you make great videos. One thing I would like to mention is the difference between a '22 outback and a '23. I owned a '22 Outback Touring XT which I traded in for a '23 Outback Touring XT. Besides the addition of the 3rd camera, the ride quality of '23 is far superior to that of the '22. My '23 rides smoother and it far quieter on the road. Way less wind noise and road noise. My '23 is my 4th Subaru, 3rd Outback and by far the best one I have owned. Even though I own an Outback, I still watch your videos, i may learn something.
Thanks for the comment, I'm glad that you enjoy my videos! That's an interesting observation - I can't say that I've noticed a significant difference between the 2022's and 2023's as far as ride quality/sound deadening are concerned, but I also don't drive one daily, so the difference wouldn't be as apparent to me. I'm glad that you're happy with your 4th Subaru!
Another outstanding and detailed review Tyson of the 23 Outback Wilderness Crystal Black. I didn’t know that this was an option as I am seriously considering the purchase of Premier XT model. Now I need to take both out for a test drive and compare. Thanks kindly - Best!
Thanks for the kind words, Ron. It all depends what you're looking for in a vehicle - the Wilderness is oriented to handle a bit rougher terrain and go off the beaten path, while the Premier XT is going to ride a bit more smoothly than the Wilderness and offer more features.
I bought my ‘23 in white because like the contrasting black cladding. It’s a crazy looking car, so embrace it. Hopefully at some point, the US Outback Wilderness will be able to be retrofitted with the heated wheel. It’s not an option here.
The cladding definitely shows up against the white! I like the contrast, but also appreciate the darker colors 'hiding' it a bit more. Would be great if they could sort that out, but it would be a hard thing to do. Likely a whole steering wheel/airbag replacement would be necessary
@@TysonTheSubaruSpecialist Yeah, not offering the heated wheel in the US was an odd decision. I’ve swapped out steering wheels and airbags before, so who knows?
Hey Tyson, great video as always - super informative. I'm waiting on delivery of a black OBW - your videos helped me to decide. One question - I can't tell if the interior looks grey/grey or black/grey. Some videos show a bit darker black in the two-tone than others. The US website shows it to be more of a contrast between the dark and the grey. What can I expect when I finally see it in person?
Thanks for the comment, glad I could help with your decision! I find the interior more of a light grey/dark grey combo as opposed to light grey/black. Color is one of those subjective things that not everyone will agree with, though.
I'm super torn! I have a 2018 Toyota Rav4 FWD and want to trade it in for the 2023 Outback Wilderness. I want the off-road ability and power of the Subaru, but I've never owned a new Subaru and am worried about its reliability. I don't want to trade in my car that has no issues other than its not powerful/capable enough for the occasional trip and trade it in for a car that I really want, but potentially just gives me a headache. My toyota is less powerful and not off-road capable but very reliable. The subaru is more powerful and off-road capable but equally reliable? Less reliable? More reliable? (all contingent upon me keeping up with the regularly scheduled maintenance). Can any Subaru owners touch on the reliability/car issue factors?
Thanks for the great video, think i watched it ten times! finaly made my decision and ordered a 2023 crystal black Wilderness! i was hesitating between black and Geyser blue and this helped me decide. Can you elaborate a little on the five tires rotation? after how many KM would you do it?
Thanks for the comment, I'm glad that you enjoy my videos! Congrats in advance on your Black Wilderness Outback - that's a gorgeous color on the Wilderness! For a 5 tire rotation I would do it every time I do an oil change (8,000kms-ish). Here is a great article covering the why and the how of it: tiregrades.com/tire-maintenance/rotation/rotation-patterns/5-tire-rotation-patterns/
How many inches is it from the back of the front seats to the back tail gate with the 2nd row seats down ? Can someone that is 6'2" (74 inches) lay flat in the back for sleeping ? Thanks.
With how I sit in the drivers seat, there is 76 inches from the back of the front seat to the hatch. I'm about your height and can camp comfortably in my Outback.
Thanks for awesome video! I see this is Canadian version of Outback Wilderness. Does it come with a power sunroof? (I think in US version it's an optional feature\package).
Thanks for the comment! Glad you enjoy my videos! If you're asking about longevity of the 2.4L Turbocharged engine, I have several clients with over 150,000kms on theirs with no issues at all. The 2.4L Turbo would be my personal choice.
@tysauce1986 yeah, it'd odd that we've gotten it every year since the Wilderness came out, and you guys haven't! There is the button (third from the left) by the drivers knee. If it's pressed in, the sensor is turned off, if it's in the "out" position, it's active.
@tysauce1986 there is a small white mark on the top section of the button. If it's visible, it's active, if it's pushed in, it's "hidden" and the sensor is shut off.
It's a block heater. We routinely get below -35°C during the winters and a block heater makes it easier to start the vehicle at those lower temperatures.
Hi Mang, thanks for the comment! I have had a couple of clients experience some abnormalities with their CVT's, but nothing that a reprogramming of the CVT hasn't fixed. I only know of one catastrophic CVT failure that we've dealt with at the dealership, and that was back in 2019, but we're a very small sample size. I currently have a CVT with 387,xxxkms in my Outback and it's given me no issues - regular, on-time, servicing seems to work just fine.
The Ice Silver Metallic is my favorite because it's really two colors in one, and Silver is very easy to keep looking clean. I like the Black because it looks mean on the Wilderness. I'm just not the biggest Geyser Blue fan ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ @@antonroux6737
@@TysonTheSubaruSpecialist any models that has a built-in navigation? I travel to US quite often and my data does not cover US unless I pay for it which is quite costly.
