They will not try to sell it in UK, Australia. Also in New Zealand, where I live. EV's sell well here, Tesla Y for the fancy, BYD Otto 3 and MG ZS for the masses. Prius probably could not undercut the MG's price for new cars. We will get it as second hand from Japan, in 2026 lol
When my 2008 Prius wears out, currently at 300,000 miles with original battery still gets 45-50 MPG, this will be a worthy successor. But I see another 100,000 miles of life left in it. Legendary build quality in these cars.
I think they are going to have an internal issue. The Camry is too close in price range to the prius, it's already having conflict with the regular Prius v Camry. I betting the new Prime will also have an issue with other vehicles in the same price range fully decked out.
I have 2014 prius, it's been a great car, but with 121 hp, I am so over it, this one is freaking sleeper man, can't wait to get one of these, these new ones looks sexy as hell
Great review Maggie. For me the wheels on either the Prius or Prius Prime is okay- I really like both of them.I love the design and also the wireless charger for both the driver and passenger among the other features. I have a Prius 2018 and will definitely be moving toward the new model, will have to decided between the Prime or Prius and also really want to know the mileage capacity once these reviews hit actual road conditions.
Well, currently have a FJ Cruiser and have driven the previous generation Prius and was impressed by the mpg and safety features. Recently got a transfer to Florida I had requested, but it involves a 80 mile round trip drive from our Florida house. Don't want to relocate so this may be the answer. Would also be awesome to get back to Iowa in the summer months. AC seats are a major plus, comfort seems to have improved!
I have a 2022plug in prius it charges to 33.7 miles. way more than the norm. I will still keep it (of course) And the new one will be in my driveway soon. Yes all electric is nice but I Love my Prius.
I've had a 1999 eclipse for 23 years just waiting for the right vehicle to appear to where I finally move on from the eclipse, sort off.. I'm keeping it, but this is it. I'm getting this prius.
0-60 in 6.6 seconds when using both motors. 13.6 kWh lithium-ion battery. 50% more electric only range than previous model or ~37 miles. Good looking design. Base estimated price is listed from $28K, actual announcement to come end of year. There will be an optional solar roof. Ok Prius Prime I have a spot in my family for you. Some of the sources are sited from Toyota and other review channels.
@@Antiorganizer Yes, because chip shortage is over, production is ramping up. the 2023 corolla hybrid is cheaper than the 2022 corolla hybrid by $1000+
@@Hi_Hayan i think that they are falsely advertising pricing that won't sell those cars for. The shortages are very profitable. The will have waiting lists and one ahead of they queue ad marked up prices. Plus by to he time it's your turn they will ask for more money. No bloody way that anything is getting cheaper at all. It's all a dirty game.
@@Antiorganizer I priced out my XLE online and it came to $31.9K MSRP. I'd like to think that it can be purchased at around the MSRP. We'll see. I'm driving my 2010 Lexus hybrid sedan few more months.
🇺🇸 RIGHT! They don't compete. Tesla your pay $40k to $50k more. Your have range anxiety and spend hours charging. Tesla has 250 mILE range. Prime has 640mile RANGE. Silly Rabbit.. they don't compete.
Hi Maggie! Awesome video! I do like the vegetable type wheels, great for a Prius...the design has a lot going on. Sorry about the audio interruptions, your elegance totally overshadowed the interference and I would not have noticed except for the notations on the video. Let me comment on your skill which I have observed: you eloquently communicate a lot of valuable and substantive information in a classy and upbeat way. It's clear you enjoy your work and you are sincere and honest in what you say. You do this, often, while walking backwards, somehow even gently turning/following around the car... walking backwards while delivering meaningful content. Bravo! You are a real pro. Much respect to you! I'd fallen down a dozen times, lol. Motor City Maggie=Class, Skill, Elegance, Gracefulness, Substantive and Sunshine! I keeping thinking of the Toyota Crown since you reviewed it... I think Toyota should make you the official spokeswoman for Toyota. You are a queen... a good, warm, graceful and kind queen. Toyota should give you a Crown, in my humble opinion. What Lexus models do you like? Thank you, Maggie.
I have a Guardian Grey Audi A3 e-tron (basically the German brother of the Prius Prime with about 20 / 25 miles EV range in winter / summer). If I were to switch to the Prius Prime, I would certainly keep the color, because it just looks so classy and timeless. :) A shy meow from Switzerland. :)
Long time Prius owner on my third Prius. Sidewall on the tires looks a bit thin. Thin tire sidewalls are usually about performance at the expense of ride quality.
I'm glad Toyota has returned to the style public appeal standard that made the Prius a success over a decade ago. They even got movie stars to buy the Prius in California. Now style that makes you proud plus fuel efficiency to mitigate these skyrocketing gas prices. Quality, fuel efficiency, and style are a winning combination !!!! *******The 2023 Toyota Prius ( Prime ) is a great comeback.****
Is it possible; let us say, the battery died after a certain milles so when the gasoline is using is there any ideas that the battery can be rechargeable within when/during the car is running with gasoline? Secondly an interchangeable battery system died and rebirth/extra fully charged battery? After a certain milles when the first battery reaches to die the second battery automatically switches on then the dead one starts recharging within a few minutes and got full then when the first battery closes to die switches the second one on , After the trip ends plug in the house or parking station.
If I can't get a 2023 Prius Prime I'll just have to be satisfied with my 2017 Prius Prime which looks more like a Lexus than a Prius and has given me 96.7 mpg running average fuel economy.
Actually great car. I own 4th generation Prius prime and very happy with it. I wonder how will these be. I think the actual results will be in 2025 as then many drivers will have tested this vehicle.
Nothing beats Prius😊. Finally Prius got the mojo back. This is the only car which makes any sense at this point of time during EV charging infrastructure evolution.
Amazing, The Prime has finally caught up to the 2011 Chevy Volt! I hope each model year Toyota boosts the electric range to catch up to the range of the model 2 Volt.
I have been waiting for a basic car to catch my eye. Tesla never came out with that 30K car so looks like I finally get to upgrade my 2008 Toyota Prius!
Thanks for a great first look. The right kind of info. This car could be a big hit. We'll have to see how it fairs after the press-dust settles and we know what the experience with it is like.
I believe the Prius Prime EV battery will not always be used until it is depleted, such as if the gasoline engine is needed for fast acceleration, or if it is particularly cold outside, or if you drive at high speeds, etc. Consequently, you may well "use some drops of gasoline" on your daily 40 mile commute.
Hey Maggie, There is something you left out at the beginning explaining a plug in Hybrid. Is there an option to use the hybrid function only and NOT full electric although the car is fully charged.
Guess Maggie doesn't know or doesn't care to answer. At first, I was disappointed with our 2024 Prime. The first time we took the car on a road trip with a full charge, the thing ran in full EV Mode even though we'd selected Hybrid Mode. The charge brought us 81.5Km before the Hybrid started the engine. Then it dawned on me; with a 100% charge what would be the sense of the normal hybrid mode working. The engine would not be able to charge the battery beyond 80% anyway, there'd be no benefit. On that day we went 81.5Km in EV, then got 61.2mpg in hybrid after the battery died. In hybrid, the engine sends loads of power to the battery quickly, thus increasing mileage. Love this car, 4,250Km and we have only put in one tank of fuel.
By the time this comes out we’ll be in a bad recession and I’ll actually be able to buy one for less than MSRP…as opposed to current greedy dealer pricing structures.
My 2017 Volt had 50+ miles EV range so commute was gas free. Unfortunately 13 check engine lights and 5 strandings ruined the 36 month lease relationship for me. Thank God I leased!
As usual only generalities...does the generator actually CHARGE the battery when depleted or just maintain the state of charge?..can the battery fast charge?.....Holy crap..details details!!!!
One day, when that Prius is 10 or 15 year old, I'm gonna drop a Honda K20A2/transmission in it... then slap Civic Type R side stickers on it... along with Honda logos front and back... and tell people it was a 'Japan only' variant.
Loved the video! Literally been watching every piece of content about this new Prius, it’s so awesome! But I why doesn’t the Prius prime offer all wheel drive? 😥 The dream spec would be the Prius prime with the solar panel roof and all wheel drive
@@delliott777 Perhaps they could work on a coupe version that has all wheel drive, since practical space will be less of a concern, and maybe thy lower it another inch while they are at it
