over the tundra, it is better looking my issue is the 3rd row seats ,need to go away in the sequoia im looking for a wagon for a car camper overlander build , need cargo space for my camping kit wish list on board generator like the F150 powerboost
The reason the center console was shallow in the AT4 is because it had the sliding center console option, which when you slide it reveals a hidden storage compartment perfect for your firearm or other valuables. Need to do a follow up review in the suspension options and features of the AT4 which make it a way better off-road beast than the Sequoia. I owned two sequoias for a total of 15 years (1st and 2nd generations). Now I drive a 2023 AT4. Awesome truck.
@@Hadronyx1 well, out of all the vehicle's in GMs portfolio, their large SUVs have consistently had above average reliability. Toyota has been having issues with the tundras twin turbo, among other things, and that shares some components with the new sequoia.
On par with Toyota for reliability??!! lol I drive a Sierra Denali, wife drives a Highlander. There’s a reason why Toyota is always touted as the best for reliability and resale
True. I really don’t know why Toyota went backwards with their design. They could of kept IRS they already had it and should of kept the rear roll down window, and it should of been the bigger/ longer interior room from front to back. Such a miss by Toyota. I’ll probably still buy one tho if I need a full size but it annoys me the direction they went with the sequoia.
I would definitely take the Sequoia. Has to be more reliable. My friend has a 21 Silverado 6.2L with 35000 miles. It's been back to the dealer multiple times. New transmission, active fuel management, faulty cruise control and computer glitches. He is looking for a Tundra TRD pro now.
@@jessicapage2218 funny Tundra have been out now a full year, sequoia as just come out this year and this statement based on what? The turbo issue, it's fixed and it was a minor batch you know kind of like the bad batch from clone wars lol.
@@eztravelpals Whoa there fanboy. Nobody is throwing mud at Toyota. They make a good product. Some of us are just tired of the cult trying to pass them off as mythical machines.
@@earl4672 Thanks Earl. The JW looks great but I would never buy one. Jeep, Ram and Stellantis generally have poor reliability ratings. Having seen the GH at the Chicago Auto Show where I did look at the JW as well (first realizing it came in two cabin lengths). The GH was definitely the vehicle for me but like every other Toyota model these days you can't get one let alone see, touch or test drive. Since the GH won't release until 2H '23 I'm sure it will be the same as the other models like Sienna. Ended up buying a '23 Lexus GX. Despite its 3rd row shortcomings, it at least has a flat third row when not in use and rides like a dream. Quite happy with it.
Good pick yeah for the prices of what they charge now I end up getting the best thing on the market and plan on keeping it for a long time a Lincoln navigator absolutely everything that I need space luxurious worth every penny. 💯
I like the Toyota styling but sadly lack of auto 4WD (and much smaller cargo volume behind 1st and 2nd rows) is a deal breaker for me. I have to run winter tires 6+ months here in the Rockies and basically leave my Yukon Denali in auto-4 most of the winter. It’s a significant help almost every day, with local roads crossing over between snow, ice and dry. Think my replacement will be Z71 Tahoe, maybe AT4 if I want the diesel.
Thank you for your effort buddy , I don’t recall if you mentioned it already or not but, there’s a another type of sequoia more luxurious than the TRDPro named by “Capstone” or something like that, because this TRDPro is more aggressive off road vehicle, finally wonderful job you made there 👍🏾
The Sequoia Capstone would compete with the Yukon Denali trim.....the AT4 competes with the TRD Pro trim. So he's comparing them correctly. The Denali blows the Capstone out of the water....not even close.
Good video. I'm somewhat surprised and a bit disappointed to state this (as I would like to buy the Texas manufactured Sequoia), but the Yukon takes it hands down in terms of capability, luxury and practical utility. That is not even considering that the Sequoia's powertrain is untested. Is a twin turbo 3.5 liter V6 that makes 583 lbs of torque going to last for 200k+ miles? And how long will the battery last?
If Toyota reads these comments - you are pushing your loyal clients towards other brands as I believe your supply chain issues are (now) on purpose. I have looked and considered the Audi Q7, Mercedes GLS, VW Atlas, and Mazda CX-90. Audi has low quality ratings with even the salesperson saying they are expensive to operate when they get above 100K miles. The '23 VW Atlas is slightly better and hopefully the '24 model will be better. The Mercedes was a beautiful vehicle with slightly too much automation for my liking (remote 2nd row only even to recline is annoying), it would have been too expensive ($10K above the Platinum Sequoia I was considering). Lastly, the Mazda CX-90 is just hitting dealers now (in April '23). It is a beautiful vehicle with a solid reputation. I think they are priced a bit too high which is actually why I pulled the trigger on a '23 Lexus GX as the Lexus is a luxury vehicle which I get a great deal off MSRP while the CX-90 is not a luxury vehicle. The cost for the Mazda trim I wanted was in the Lexus ballpark and i doubt the dealers will be discounting ... at least not initially.
If you could get the Sequoia never mind finding one of the Pro without a stupid Market Adjustment I would really like that...But due to rude dealerships and the mentioned Market Adjustment that AT4 is looking really really appealing.... Let's hope the reliability of the new Sequoia is at least on par with Toyota..and they really did miss the mark with the 3rd row. I'll be taking a really good look at the AT4 and that's coming from a Toyota loyalist.
drove the sequoia limited and the wagoneer I-6 looking to drive the expedition XL STX 2 row V6 defender 130 S 2 row inline I-6 both are hard to find did consider tahoe Z71
my 2021 Yukon xl AT4 was in the shop after 3 months for a control arm replacement. Now, it is in the shop for a fuel pump that died! And the wait on a fuel pump? Months. I am so disappointed with GMC and new cars I am ready to buy a used 2018 Suburban and drive that to 250K.
Dumb Question, Ben - if you were to drive mostly highway miles, would the hybrid battery last longer? Or does it degrade just on battery life years, or because you cycle through the battery whether you're driving stop and go, in town driving or not. Thanks
I mean you have to calculate of course. Straight line or up and down hills/mountains. Any towing? Don’t forget Wind is also a big factor. Lots of stop and go’s. There’s a lot to figure out. Honestly I’d just stick to gas and not worry about if you’re gonna make it or have to recharge 🤷♂️
@@MissleT0E Except your using the engine to charge the battery, plus regeneration in slowing the car. Just drive the car normally there's not much to think about.
Exterior looks, hands down Sequoia. Interior, hands down Yukon. Hoping that GM cleans up that rear side profile. Sequoia loses with that crap rear storage and non-flat deck. Reliability on both is on par. I'm a Tundra owner, but GM nailed the interior of their full-size offerings. Wishing GM would at least reverse those damn drive buttons (Push to go/pull to stop). If GMC will offer the Duramax Diesel with this, I feel it would just take the market even with bland exterior looks. Sequoia buyers, even those moving to the new model will NOT be happy with the atrocious rear seat/load floor layout. Excellent review Ben. Thank you.
The old Sequoia was more on par with the Yukon in that it used to have more room and had independent air suspension but the new Sequoia went back to a solid rear axle (thus reducing cargo space) and built it for off roading (mainly because it discontinued the Land Cruiser). Now Toyota doesn't really have a full size SUV that compares to most on road style family hauling SUV's.
