Here is my full review of the 2023 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro model. I really enjoyed my time with this off-road truck especially since it has a 3.5l V6 engine and plenty of character. Let me know if you would buy this truck. See my 2022 Tundra Review here: • 2022 Toyota Tundra 179...

I think your reviews are among the best because of the fact that you understand the real world use of the vehicle, it will mostly be driven on road , in traffic, etc, etc, etc. Great review by the way.

I have a 2019 TRD Off Road. I have 116,000 miles and it's been trouble free. Never had anything go wrong with it. Still has the same battery it came with. Just been keeping up with maintenance and changed out fluids for transmission, front and rear differentials, and transfer case. Other than that, the freaking thing is solid as heck. I have a 2020 Ford F-350 and the driver's side door has already started creaking really loud at 65,000 miles. And I got it brand new. Some of my other relative's Ford trucks has their driver's side doors creaking really loud too. Not sure how other domestic manufacturers are doing with their trucks. But my Tacoma makes no sound at all. And I've been beating the thing up and working it. Going on dirt roads, washboard roads, hauling wood, towing trailers. And the Tacoma still doesn't make weird sounds. Not even the driver's side door.

I just got a lightly used 2023 Tacoma TRD Off Road last week. I love it. I think the Tacoma transmission is very superior to the 2011 4Runner I replaced with it. That thing never knew what gear to use.

I personally like the simplistic interior on the Tacoma. Could it use a refresh/upgrade? Yeah, and it is going to in 24. I don’t love when these new vehicles have a huge touch screen media center. It’s not user friendly when I’m driving. Is it slow? Eh maybe a little but it’s a mid size truck not a Mustang. to me, this 23 Solar octane pro is one of the nicest trucks on the road. Mid or full size.

Totally agree. I like the simplicity of the tacoma interior. It has more tech than I will use in my opinion. Regarding touchscreens, my subaru crosstrek's died after only 6 years and I was told it would cost 3g to replace if I went with OEM. Hopefully the touchscreen in the Tacoma fares better.

the 2023 V6 has port injection and direct injection. It switches from direct injection to port injection at high speeds to clean any carbon buildup from the direct injection .. the 2024 onward only has direct injection with no port injection.. so ever 20k miles or so will need to have a costly port cleaning at the garage. This is a problem with all direct injection engines.

If, like me and my wife, I'm Android and she's Apple, you do not want wireless CarPlay and Android Auto. They are just not well done software. But when you plug a phone into the USB port it works 100% of the time and works correctly. The wireless versions are not reliable yet. Especially if you are both in the car at the same time.
@itsatrap4986
@itsatrap4986 Год назад
People are buying a $50k Tacoma or any Toyota with a proper 4x4 just to be a daily driver/garage queen. Also, customers are overspending/over compensating for top models when a base SR5 V6 4WD is all you need. Starting at $38k with access cab or $39k with double cab and use it for what its intended for.

I’m 6ft tall and just purchased my 2023 tacoma trd off road in in Lunar Rock with all the bells and whistles in March and I love everything about the truck I’ve seen lots of reviews of people saying how uncomfortable to seat position is or how under powered the power train is and it just blows me away how wrong they are
@ruizz7166
@ruizz7166 9 месяцев назад
The only real complaint I have is the truck will feel slightly underpowered BRAND NEW but I’ve put about 3.5k miles and the power and acceleration has definitely improved because you have to give the computer time to learn how you drive. I drive with a medium foot and sometimes heavy and I still get roughly 18mpg and I don’t experience “gear hunting”

A few years ago I test drove the Hilux SR5 as we couldn't get the TRD here at the time and man just after a short drive I felt like I needed a Chiropractor it was so shit, I think what makes the TRD Pro so good for you Kevin is those Fox Shocks on it, the Ranger Raptor that we get over here but unfortunately you don't, has Fox Shocks and it rides amazing, and I've heard the newest Raptor is even better than the previous one I drove, and it has even more advanced Fox Shocks.

Love Tacoma but I can’t bring myself to buy one. I’m ok with the interior but I’m can’t get past the ergonomics. Having to tuck and fold to get in might be acceptable for a Porsch but no way in hell I’m I doing that for a Toyota daily driver. I’m hoping the new taco fixes this.

Did I read that right? You can’t get the jbl upgrade with a manual transmission?!? Why does Toyota do that?
@LoneScout1
@LoneScout1 Год назад
Because it makes no sense that’s why. Things like can’t buy a manual long bed Off Road in either Can or US, can’t get a long bed double cab automatic OR standard in Canada. Always limiting factors for several decades. Toyota really needs to fire that guy who has been making these shite decisions for us over the last 25 years. Clowns.
@KKSRetardo
@KKSRetardo 11 месяцев назад
@@LoneScout1there are reasons GM/Chrysler went bankrupt. One of those reasons is why Challengers now have the all show / no go GT version with that Pentash@t V6 - excess inventory driven by bad marketing decisions to let customers mix and match whatever the heck they want. Toyota knows it’s strengths / weaknesses and it works well for them - they didn’t go bankrupt and their revenue is ~120bn USD higher than GM’s. People keep throwing their money at them.

Knock the drum brakes all you want. But those SOB's will last a long time. I'm already over 100,000 miles in my Tacoma and had to replace my front disc brakes already at 90,000. And the drum brakes are not even at half life yet. So it still has at least another 100,000 miles to go. Braking in my Tacoma feels no different than any other vehicle. People who drive my truck say the brakes are more sensitive and touchy than their own vehicles. And their vehicles are full disc brake vehicles.
