What a great-looking truck. So good in that orange, with all the black TRD trim pieces. It really pops. "Apparently people that want three pedals hate convenience." Exactly. It absolutely sucks, the fact that nearly all manufacturers these days limit the manuals to their least desirable trim packages.

I keep hearing about this so called “gear hunting” stuff, it’s not a muscle car. Go get one of those if you want to race. Hell, my ‘23 TRD off road premium does not have that problem! I hardly go down on the accelerator and I’m up to 45 before I know it. Just treat it right and it responds! The new model ‘23, seems to not have that talked about issue. Try using some better fuel and maybe a K&N air filter - may help you out!
@Realistick
@Realistick Год назад
It's a valid nuisance, there are things you can do to fix it and the new ones are much better than the ones from before the update but there's a reason why it's a common complaint, especially if you tow or live at high altitude.

Pretty spot on review, I concur with just about everything. One thing I don’t get is why people complain about the seat position…I think it’s comfortable and I like the fact that I have a wide view. Probably because I’m a midgety 5’9”. Other thing people don’t talk about is the looks. Best looking of any midsize truck period…IMO. The only midsize that beats taco on looks is the ranger raptor which isn’t available in the US yet.

I really wanted to trade my 21 TRD OR Tacoma for a 4Runner but they're so expensive for what they are. Interior from 2008 and ride that's decades behind the competition. I ended up getting a topper for my Taco instead. Not ideal, but its good enough for now.
@Toby_Flenderson_1982
@Toby_Flenderson_1982 Год назад
This has been exactly what I’ve been considering. I’ve got a 21 TRD OR but sort of wish I had gotten the 4runner. At this point would lose too much in a trade (value proposition of buying new is keeping for a really long time) so I’m also thinking about a topper. Maddening thing is that they’re so expensive that you start approaching the price difference to 4runner (at least a base model, which is what I’d cross-shop). What did you go with?

You seem to draw attention to the existence of "charging mats" for phones, in your reviews. Is this a big selling point? I would have figured people would be more concerned about longevity and reliability over the fact that they can hide their phone while charging it at
@Realistick
@Realistick Год назад
Yes, I try to point out what features they have. And if they don’t work like the charger here, because if im spending $45k, I want to know that stuff🥴

@overbuiltlimited
@overbuiltlimited Год назад
I have two vehicles that have charging mats. I've never used either one. I guess a charging mat would come in nice in a pinch, but most plug their phone in. I wonder who is actually using this feature? Seems like a feature for a problem that doesn't exist. A feature that would be very welcome would be a built in phone mount with wireless charging. That way the driver could use the phone for navigation (I prefer phone navigation) and not have to mess with cords every time they drive.
@OutsideTheTargetDemographic
@@overbuiltlimited I see it as possibly a "convenience" and "Safety" thing, in that you don't have to look for and plug and unplug a physical cable, and you can't be looking at your phone while driving (maybe some gov kickback for safety, who knows). Seems silly to me. Someone somewhere needs it.

Not if you plan to keep the truck. The reason the lease payments are low is because the residual value is really good because Tacomas have legendary resale value. However once you break the lease cost down with the money factor (interest rate) they charge for a Tacoma lease (which is generally pretty high because the residual value is so good) you realize that a huge portion of your lease payment goes to nothing but interest. Best to buy a Tacoma IMO, but if you trade in and out of vehicles every three years, it’s not a bad route. You’re just paying a lot of interest.
