In my own opinion the limited with TRD off-road package is the better option. I test drove a platinum and didn’t like it that’s why I got the 2023 limited with TRD off-road package 🤙🏽

Such a relative question. If what you can afford is Limited, Limited makes sense, but if the cost difference does not matter, and you want the features of the platinum or 1794,than I always recommend higher luxury.

@@user-mh5qg5jb7d for many people this is true, but they make these various trims at different price points specifically to attract varying budgets. My grandma used to say, you can’t squeeze blood out of a turnip. People can afford it or they can’t. Blessings to you.

Hey just wanted your opinion would you go for a fully loaded limited w/ trd Offroad or a base platinum as they are about the same $$. Never really go offroad, only use for 4x4 is really snow (NJ) so not sure if I should get Offroad or get a more premium truck . Currently have 2014 1794 since new and looking to upgrade. thanks for the insight

Not sure why you added the AVS option with step on your comparison. The limited doesn’t have those. Comparing apples to apples the Platinum is actually about 4k more. Digital dash, leather, body color, leather on dash, ambient lighting, premium lights, heated/cooled rear, black headliner black wheels. Blue stitching everywhere. I shopped both and thought the Pkatinum made more sense. TRD option would of been nice though
@TundraDude34
@TundraDude34 11 месяцев назад
I was attempting to add the best package bundles available for both. But if it makes you feel better, lets subtract 3k off of the Platinum. Then its a bit closer
@alexthomasiii225

When I shopped my truck I priced the platinum vs limited with TRD off road and I thought it was about 2k difference. The only reason I didn’t get the limited is because up in the Northeast I couldn’t build a limited that had off road/panoramic/and JBL. I really never needed the locker in any of my Tundras but I love to crank the radio and love the panoramic roof. For that small difference in price especially on a lease the Platinum to me has the best look of all the new tundras and had everything I wanted. Thanks for the comparison though. I love all your videos

My 2023 Platinum is a dream. Of course, with time, I'm beginning to notice shortcomings. The mileage is terrible, (I commute 100 miles a day), here in Canada, we're deprived of the trial WIFI and the RSA features and other small add-ons upon purchase), and I'm starting to hate the downward "lip" of the front bumper in its profile. I love most everything else about it and I'm more than pleased. I think I made a wise purchase with the Platinum as they're hard to come by here and I think it will retain its value if I keep her in good condition despite the lack of some of the features of the TRD pro.

I don’t understand why add the advanced options package to the Platinum. That package doesn’t have any features that the Limited has that you are comparing against. If you take $3k of that package off the price of the Platinum, you only have $4k diff. in my opinion.

I thought the same until I climbed in with a sweaty back. You gotta have sweat to feel the so-called ventilation. I don't think it's air conditioned seats, rather, there's a fan that blows cabin-temp air through them. You can hear the fan actuate when you turn it on. In my platinum, i can only feel it in my lower back and under my knees because that's how the stippled hole pattern is laid out. I wish it hit my ass, balls, higher back, etc. but there ain't holes in those spots. Disappointed by this "feature" too.

Both trims are expensive. If I had to choose, I would go with the Platinum trim. Either way, the 1/2 ton trucks are becoming unaffordable. Midsize trucks, on the other hand, are a bit more affordable. If I were you Mark, I would change the name of the channel to TacomaDude34. What is the point to watch videos about Tundra's, when we cannot buy them. I do not give a f**k about Ferrari's and Lambo's. or Mercedes and BMWs, and I came from Europe. I bet if Toyota revives the 2nd gen Toyota with the old pricing, they will sell them like a hot cake.
@TundraDude34
@TundraDude34 10 месяцев назад
I always integrate Tacos because of the age old question, half ton vs midsize which do i need? And i will continue to do so with the advent of the new Tacoma, but Tundras are my interest, and TundraDude shall remain 😁. Have a great day man!
@bryanangelov
@bryanangelov 10 месяцев назад
@@TundraDude34 You are doing a good job sharing your thoughts about the Tundra. I am a big Tundra fan, but the new gen will need a lot of weeks and improvements to become the number one 1/2 ton truck it used to be (I do not mean in sales, but more like a what you get for what you pay for). To me, the 2nd gen was that. However, what scares me is the trend. They are getting very, very expensive. I do not know what needs to happen, but if that trend continues, the only way I am getting a new Tundra will be a picture poster that I can hang it on my wall, very childish but this is my reality. Even SR5s are hitting $60k+ OTD. How low can we go in the trim level to get a 1/2 ton truck with 4x4 that costs less than $50k OTD? If the economy tanks, that will make the manufacturers lower truck prices, but then many people will not have jobs/money to afford them anyway. The other option would be to offer trucks with less/no options to make them more affordable. Or hopefully, we will start earning more money to once again being able to buy them. Or more & more people will look into the used market or buy midsize trucks.
@SuperSnakePlissken
@SuperSnakePlissken 11 месяцев назад
The fact you lose towing capacity and payload capacity rules out the higher trims for me. What's the point of buying a truck if you cannot use it like a truck. LImited is a great trim level for the Tundra and has been since 2007.
@seanaxel1004
@seanaxel1004 11 месяцев назад
Agreed Limited is a great trim. But lots of people, like myself, just get trucks because I love the idea of throwing whatever I want in the back (fishing gear, camping, lumber) and it’s big enough to carry, but I never tow and hardly ever push max payload. And I just like the Tundra :)

I get that, and valid points, but not everyone that utilizes the features of a truck, maximizes payload or tow capacity. That said, In my 2017 1794 I added about 200 lbs of sound deadening material, power steps, and a snug top tonneau cover. If I load 3 of my buddies for a golf trip, with our weight, our clubs, and the added weight of my upgrades, I’m at my payload capacity. But the 5.7L v8 doesn’t have a clue nor does the truck act as if there is an issue. I think the payload numbers listed are ridiculously low in all brands, but especially in the Toyota, as it’s over engineered and under rated. Love our trucks.
