@@jpdunamislodge I was about to call BS because I have a 13 on 33s now with 20" wheels and fight for 15mpg. What gears are you running? I think I'm the factory 3.55 with the electronic locking diff. I also forgot we are on a Toyota video and I can only assume you have one too. I have an F150 EB so we aren't on the same page. Still curious about your gearing though.
@@Mahaney82 yes I have a 2013 Crewmax. Auburn made my mechanical Limited Slip Diff. It works in conjunction with the electronic. I can light up both back ties on dry pavement every time I get into the throttle. I believe that my new gear ratio is 4:11. I will have to check the manufacture as it’s been about 8 years since I built this out. Truck had 20k miles on it when I converted it over. I’ve got right at 100k miles on it mow without any issues at all. . I’m on 37’s on 20” wheels. The truck drives, pulls, and accelerates like it did when it was stock on 33’s. My Speedo is off (slower) by 5 mph at 55 mph. 50 mph equals a tall 55. My MPG is right at 15 mph all rear round. I do not accelerate heavy nor break heavy. I attribute my good mpg to driver technique. I live in rural Alaska and our max speed limit around here is 55. It’s 15 miles to town which I drive at least 4 to 5 times a week. The MPG is the same in 4 wheel drive and in two well drive. I’m in 4 wheel drive at least 5 months out of the year as we are a heavy snow area. The terrain between my house and town is relatively flat. I also run my Grapplers at 60 to 65 psi all year round which also helps the mpg. I have 2 sets of identical tires. One set studded and the other not. Driver technique / energy management, slower speed limits (Alaska has zero tolerance for speeding) slower winter speeds due to road conditions, flat ground, and higher tire pressures is why my truck is doing so well with this setup. I put my 4000# boat on the back and use Tow Haul (through the mountains close by) and my mileage goes to around 8 mph.
I lifted 6” and doubled my rear leaf springs, re-geared my front and rear diffs, and added a limited slip diff in the rear in my 2013 to be able to run 37’s on 20” wheels.

When getting bigger wheels is it a requirement to replace the shocks from the factory to better shocks (sorry if that doesn’t make sense not really a car guy 😅)
