2023 Unity VR Basics - Two Handed Grabbing

In this video, we'll use the XR Interaction Toolkit to learn how to grab our objects using two hands! There are a ton of tweaks and minor changes we can make with our two handed grabbing. I'll cover a good chunk of them and I'll also go over how we can change the center of gravity on our objects!

1:00 Window > Rendering > Render Pipeline Converter > CheckBox Material Upgrade > Lower right corner Initialize and Convert. Boom, you just autoconverted EVERY Non-URP material to URP and MOSTLY kept textures, smoothness/metallic/emission settings. Is it possible to have the GrabInteractable not Snap to the primary attach in the offhand when you let go of the primary attach point? Any other tutorials on how to do this aren't applicable anymore as Unity deprecated a lot of stuff.

U would be a legend if u did a video about how to make a vr gun with recoil and cool reloading :D

I'll have to think about this one. Recoil seems like it might be a bit weird due to the controllers themselves only having a bit of vibration in them, but not actually recoiling. I'm going to go play some guns in Half Life Alyx for a bit while I think on this one.

@@FistFullofShrimpIm pretty sure that Half life alyx has recoil and accuracy change when you shoot with 1 hand and less recoil if you shoot with 2 it would be cool to see how to make😎 It makes the Guns fell real somehow

Hi thanks for the tutorial. I notice there is a script called two-handed grab move provider in the XR interaction Toolkit. Why did you not use that? Sorry I'm somewhat limited knowledge on implementing this stuff so just curious why. Thanks !

Is it possible to do this without xr interaction toolkit too? Also, how much do materials affect performance on like the quest 2 (materials with a normal, height, and occlusion map) Great video though! You explain stuff perfectly

I'm certain that you could do this without the xr interaction toolkit. It would just be a matter of choosing a toolkit or framework that already has 2 handed gripping implemented already (unless you want to do all of it yourself).
