I own a 2018 and personally I like the “over styling” as you commented this model is, compared to the styling of the 2023 which shares its overall look with almost every new SUV on the market. The 2016-2022 models in my opinion, at least stand out in style having sportier two door coupe styling with the hidden rear door handles unlike the standard family sedan four door styling of the 2023. The 2023 will get lost in a parking lot full of recent model SUV’s whereas the 2016-22’s will stand out in styling. Of course it has bit smaller of an interior of course being based on the smaller Fit, but I like the size driving around the city of Chicago especially maneuvering and negotiating in and out of the busy city traffic. People who bought this generation didn’t buy it as a small SUV for families, more for being a small commuter SUV with more than decent gas mileage and optional AWD. As for cargo area it’s very comparable considering the size and wheelbase difference and you didn’t mention the absence of the fold up Honda rear “Magic Seat” in the 2023 which added much more versatility in the 2016-2022’s. You could tell from your video you were very “pro” for the newer model and pretty much in disfavor of the previous generation, calling much of the features in the older models as “cheap” and “plasticky” and downplaying the 2016-22’s, while raving about the 2023 features. Remember this generation is six years old and features are from that era, even with the year-to-year improvements until 2022. You should have ended with a comment like, “the previous model was a good car for what it was intended for, for people wanting a sportier small commuter vehicle with available AWD and very good MPG, with the new generation focusing on being more of a larger family oriented SUV with additional comfort and space.”
I absolutely love my 2023 HRV LX AWD. Thank you for reviewing the LX trim, as everyone else is reviewing the sport trim. So it’s nice to see my car featured. I don’t care that it doesn’t have a leather wrap steering wheel, as I like putting a nice chubby steering wheel cover on my cars anyway. Also, I disagree that it is sluggish. It simply does not like being pushed. It’s a sneaky car - you gotta know how to gently caress that accelerator, and then you will feel her wanting more; at which point she takes off. Other than that, this vehicle drives and handles like a dream, and I really appreciate the ease of access and egress, as so many modern cars are either too low or too high. This car also is a beauty to look at. I love it ❤
It’s Weird how the older generations will have a faster acceleration, sure it may be an upgrade to the body and interior but I have a 2015 model and if you press the accelerator you’ll go flying. Loved the review.
By the specs there's actually less cargo space and rear legroom space in the new model. I'm not sure it would be visibly obvious for the cargo but I thought I could tell from the rear seat video you shot.
