Beautiful projects, Erica, and I like your plans for 2024. In deciding what you will use on The Pastoral, you just need to use what you like to work with best… no point in struggling throughout. Besides, your color conversion is so close to the dinkey dyes, that your project, when finished, will be gorgeous regardless. Happy 2024, and happy stitching!
Great projects! The 32 ct lugana is my very favorite to stitch on. I most often stitch with one thread, as I find that two threads is just too thick and hard to pull through, and that is not enjoyable. I don't mind the sparser coverage at all! I figure in a hundred years no one is going to care if I stitched it with one or two threads. :) Stitch what makes you happy!
About two threads vs one and puffiness - if I remember correctly the splash is a printed fabric so it is true-to-size whereas hand-dyed fabrics usually shrink in the dye process (so if it started as a 32 it might be closer to a 34-36 after dyeing). Sulky threads are approximately the thickness of 1.5 DMC threads, so there IS a middle ground!
You have a beautiful group of projects. As for the choice of which thread to use - use what you enjoy stitching with. This is our hobby and should be enjoyable. Happy New Year!🪡👠
First time I've seen your floss tube. Your projects are lovely I've subscribed, so I'll see the progress. Your daughters dot art is very pretty I sure her friends will love them Happy new year from the uk
Thank you for sharing your WIPS. I only have a couple of WIPS. I tend to finish what I start. I do about 40 kitted projects. My goal for 2024 is to make a big dent in my kitted projects. I stitch in a hoop. Definitely do the fancy floss for the Drawn Thread. If I am stitching with one thread on a piece and I don’t like the coverage but 2 threads is too bulky. I will change to sulky for white and black and continue with 1 thread.
Hello Erica I love your WIPS and yes I agree with the no snow situation here in Buffalo, NY☺️ I love Brenda Gervais and currently working on the light of winter myself and I enjoy it very much💕hope you and your family have a great and blessed 2024❤stitch all the things
Oh hello in Buffalo! Isn't this weather bizarre? It didn't even really feel like Christmas without snow. Who knows, we could get totally dumped on in January, lol.
Drawn Thread - definitely fancy floss. You can clearly hear the reluctance in your voice re: the dinkey dyes -- do what you enjoy so you stitch the pieces you love. My two cents!
You are so right! I think because it's a silk thread, and I paid for it, I feel like it's a waste of I don't use it. But it's a waste to not work on a project for over a year too. Maybe I will collect the dinky dyes I have and offer them as a giveaway. Then they can go to someone who will enjoy stitching with them.
Love your projects.❤. I have the same issues as you with 32 count coverage. I've bought sulky threads to use ... They give one and a half thread coverage❤❤❤
Hi Erica! All very lovely WIPS - I'm close to an FO on Pumpkin Pie, but put it away once Oct came to an end and will return to it this Spring to have it FFO'd and up for enjoyment in 2024. Like you, I switched the called for DMC 810 as it's too black for my liking on this piece. The way I approach which WIP to work on is to work on what calls to my heart - it's where I find myself happiest in the hobby. And I'll stitch on the one piece as long as I'm feeling compelled to do so, many times I'll finish the piece. I find GREAT inspiration to start new projects once I've FFO'd a project, so I typically finish my starts pretty quickly. For me, I feel like I'm cleaning out projects to enjoy in my home versus putting partially completed projects back in the incomplete WIP pile - it's good management for me and makes me happiest. Looking forward to seeing your kitted projects - I have Henrietta (the chicken animal cracker piece) all kitted up and will be starting that soon. I think of you when I see her as I love how you have her displayed and will be doing the same in our half bath. Hope your mom did well in surgery yesterday. 🥰
Hi Brandi. Mom did very well, thank you for thinking of her. I switched from black to 3371 but I'm wondering if that's still too dark. Can I ask what color you used? I really don't like having so many WIP's but I do love to start a new project. It's hard to contain myself, lol! Happy New Year!
@@lookwhatsinmyhoop So glad your Mom did well! For the Pumpkin Pie, instead of DMC 810 I'm using Blackbird by Classic Colorworks. It's like a black/brown. I do like what you're using as well. Happy New Year!
You have great WIPs. I understand the dilemma of how to figure what to stitch. If you solve the problem, let me know! I hope you master stitching in hand.
First time watching got your flosstube. You have nice projects! Your daughter is adorable! I don’t like dinky silk thread either. I used it for a project and won’t again
Great to see all of your WIPS! I have about the same amount. I don't like having that many. Add to that, all of my unfinished quilting projects :). I have always stitched in hand. I only use a hoop every once in a while.
Hi Erica, love your WIP parade and plans. My plans go by the wayside about 2 days after I make them. Wishing you a happy and healthy 2024. Say hi to Haley, love her dot projects for pre school friends. I have a great nephew about her age and he loves having lunch with his pre school friends every now and then.
I like your plans Erica. As I have more than one craft, I have divided up the month so that for the first 2 weeks I do cross stitch, 3rd week I do my knitting projects and the last week I do other embroidery projects that aren't cross stitch. On weekends I focus on patchwork/quilting. I am trying to finish 2 projects before I start something new. I am going to start something new on New Years Day, it will be Dutch Beauty by Permin.
Oh my gosh..I didn't realize she was making all those faces at the time. And sometimes I post without rewatching the video. Not sure why I watched it this time but there is no way I was doing it over. She made so many faces throughout! I hope it made people laugh. She is such a silly girl.
