I had seen that you had a new 23 yz450. You adapted to this bike so quickly. Great riding! This bike is probably the most fun and well executed bike i have ever ridden. Thanks for sharing!
Hi, do you have any advice on how to stay in ruts I saw in the video that there were lines everywhere each corner and you didnt look like you popped out of any of them. What tips can you give? Thanks.
Good question, and one area that I work on every ride day. It's great practice to look ahead where you want to go, and not fixate on one specific spot in the ruts. Almost like tracking a baseball into a glove, just follow through with your eyes forward. Also, more of an advanced technique, I lightly drag my front brake through the apex of the turn to help keep the front end planted. And the less back brake, the better; Too many riders rely on it far too much (and too deep into turns). Don't worry if it takes time to improve in rutted corners, and work slowly at picking up speed as you progress. It's good to practice riding at 50% when working the fundamentals, and slowly increase intensity so long as the form is good. Cheers!
The biggest tips is don’t go full pace. The smoother you are on the throttle the better. Inside leg up high, you toes should be as close to your front fender as you can get them. Feather the front brake very lightly in the first half of corner (your proper braking and slowing down needs to be done before leaning over).
This bike or a 350 sxf for 40+ vet b? 70/30 Moto/off road. I’ve owned both previously but I’m torn. The suspension on the Yamahas is amazing. I keep hearing about timing chain failures at the 20-30hr mark. The motor/versatility of the 350 is as well but there’s a big price gap between the two bikes
Hey Eric, that's a tough one to answer not knowing a few more details: height, weight, intended mods, etcetera. For me at 185lbs in the birthday suit, I prefer the versatility of a 350 over the 250F's in all honesty. The 2019-2022 350SXF's are like Factory 250F engines that rev to the moon, and the 2023+ platform is akin to a mini-450 with more torque and a heavier rev sensation (compression ratio increased significantly on the new models). You'll never beat the KYB suspension of the Yamaha, but can get close on the KTM forks with a KYB-conversion kit (and Pro Circuit complete linkage assembly and required stiffer shock spring to match out back). If you've owned both previously, then you know the positives and negatives associated with each bike. As you know, riding the YZ250F harder than the 350's is pretty much a given when attempting to run similar laptimes, but that's half the fun of them! Let me know which direction you go, and congratulations on being in the new bike buying position. Don't forget, that 2024 YZ250F may receive similar chassis/engine updates as the 2023 YZ450F, which may or may not sway the decision making...
Cannot find a 23 350 sxf locally. So it’s either a 350xcf, 250 sx or yz250f. Could also get my hands on a 23 gas gas 350. Tough spot with the last two as they’ll both be all new for 24 and resale will plummet. Usually keep my bikes for 1-2 seasons
@@Throttle_therapy_326 Hard to recommend the 250SX as first year TBI scares me a bit, so looks like that narrows down the list to a 23' MC 350F or 350XC-F if the 250F durability is of concern...I LOVED riding the 2022 KTM 350 XC-F and could easily own one full time; even at the 70/30 moto to offroad ratio for you. Those XC-F's hold their value quite well. The new Austrian chassis gets better with time, but it's really hard to beat the 2019-2022's (and, accordingly, the 23' MC 350F) for parts availability and aftermarket know-how...Decisions decisions! Best of luck and keep me updated - Cheers PS: Can always ship bikes from outta' state if your heart is set on that 2023 KTM 350 SX-F!
