I have the same bike in a 22 and it’s amazing. It does surprisingly well with the lower 1st and 2nd gear and obviously has lots of legs up top for the higher speed stuff. It’s a great “do everything” platform.
Went to a Yamaha dealership to buy one (with trade in). The kid working there was not helpful at all. Didn’t take us seriously. Went across the street and got a Beta 300rr race edition! So stoked!!!
That sucks man I feel like dealership’s are hit or miss I bought a new yz250x a few months back and they were absolutely awesome to deal with they even held the bike for me without me putting money down
@@robertbaker9329 that’s awesome you were able to get one! I wanted that bike so bad. Impossible to find here. My Yamaha dealer (different from the story above) said he only gets one a year. So I would be waiting until 2024 for one. But stoked I was able to get the beta!
@@therealcountrybumpkin I was on the hunt for a yz250x or nothing lol ive always been a Yamaha guy and the for the price I was all in it did take me awhile of calling around until I finally found 1 a few hours away from me I kept hearing from dealerships they only get 1 or 2 in and there gone fast you’d think Yamaha would make more of them since it seems like a lot of people want them but I’m sure your beta is awesome hell any new bike is awesome I like how the beta 2 strokes still have carbs and electric start
Love my 450fx everywhere. Geared down and tuned with the app. My favorite bike in the last 30 years of riding. Yes I'm an old guy on a big 450! Can't get enough of that mid range grunty power.

Same here I geared my down to a 14/47 with an aggressive map, then I broke my wrist bad enough to were I had trouble using the clutch so I put a 4'0 Rekluse on it and what a difference that made, It pulls that lower gearing no problem even in tight stuff, I can't say enough good about this bike
I've got a 2020. Went on a demo ride and brought one straight away. Never owned a 450 before and promptly sold my TE300. Loving it ever since. With the app you can have a bike for any track or riding conditions - dry or wet.
I'm a little confused here. This bike was not designed to race baja and nothing else, this bike was designed for GNCC and enduro (not HARD) racing which has a lot of tight woods trails mixed in. Stew Baylor has dominated on this bike in the woods in 2022. Looks up some videos. 2 strokes are dominant in hard enduro but there are a ton of pros racing 4 strokes in the woods. All the pros at the Leadwood enduro in Missouri were on 4 strokes last year, only a handful on 2 strokes and the majority of that race is rocky single track. I think the only week spot for this bike is hard enduro and that is because of the stall factor and overheating issues 4 strokes have for that style of 1st gear crawling type of racing that hard enduro is. Regular AMA enduro's are filled with 2 and 4 strokes. I feel like your turning people away from a great bike unless they live in the desert.
He is. He's biased towards the European two strokes. The 450fx and 250fx are quite literally some of the greatest all around dirt bikes ever made. Tight single track, open single track, moto, desert, dunes, enduro cross. You name it. The only area where the two strokes actually accel is hard enduro. For the reasons you stated. Now on the other hand, some folks just like riding the 2 strokes, or ride them a bit better in areas where pro ranks would choose four stroke.
@@bradmiller8361 Agreed I actually ride a 2018 TX300 but my last bike was a 350XCF-W and it would go everywhere my TX300 would go without any issue. I'm not bias towards 2 or 4 strokes. My friends typically give me crap because I switch back and forth about every other bike I get. Hell 4 or 5 bikes ago I was on a 07 YZ450 set up for woods and it was a blast. I'm not a hard enduro guy but I have raced regular enduros and hare scrambles on it without issue. The only reason I got rid of that bike was a bad right knee and I struggled to kick it. I could only imagine the 450fx would be a much superior version of my old 07. In fact if I won his give away I would take the yz over the gasgas so I could have both 2 and 4 stroke again! The gasgas is cool but looks like it would be a pita when it came to getting parts and stuff with it being so unique and taking many parts from a 2019 model.
@Chris Tobey I had a 16' yz250x after owning a few kdx's. And they were all great. After some thought and wanting to try to mix in some more moto track days with my normal riding of what could be described as medium tech and medium for tightness on trails I normally ride. I picked up a 21' yz250f. Thinking I could set it up a little trail biased and it do everything well. I just didn't gel with it enough. But I probably should of got the fx for my use. So I went back to a 21' yz250x two stroke. I do miss a few things about the four stroke. The power tuner was awesome along with it feeling really planted. My bias I will admit is to Japanese bikes. I think European bikes are good but are better suited to people that turn over there bikes every year or 2 to avoid maintenance and other issues. Japanese bikes are a slightly dated, and heavier but are bulletproof if maintained well.
@@bradmiller8361 I don't think he's bias. I think he's speaking the truth. Just take the fact of what pros use entirely out of the equation because it's a non-factor. A pro will make up for any shortcomings a bike might have, and that's not even accounting for the fact that it's set up by professional builders and maintenance people. It's adjusted for each individual race and suited perfectly for the rider. The fact is, and I agree with him and so do all my riding buddies. For the average trail rider four strokes are going to flame out one it's that simple. My buddies that has four strokes on the trails we go on guild bike all the time. They're also heavier. They also cost a lot more to maintain. There's no doubt that he likes two strokes more for trail riding. But I wouldn't consider it bias.
I think he is speaking from his experience I live on the East Coast and went and bought a 23 250FX and try to ride tight technical trails with it not hard Enduro and it did not do very good. I went to a beta expo and got on a 300 two-stroke and it did much better for the trails that I ride once again, I do not ride hard enduro just regular trails unless you can open the 4 stroke up it’s no where near as fun to ride
I wish the fx came with a head light. I ride a crf250r mostly off road in the desert. Maybe 1% track. The gearing sucks for off road, but I make it work. The biggest thing I wanted to change on my bike was adding a real good headlight so I could ride at night and see well enough to maintain a decent speed in the desert.
That’s exactly why I’m getting a WR450. Its this bike with a head light and a wide ratio trans. Just doesn’t come with the ecu tuner. You got to buy that separate.
Hey Kyle, loved the video - great mix of drone and POV footage. You should work on an anti-flame-out mapping to just eliminate the problem. I bet you would get tons of people interested in following that development.
Also, I’ve got a buddy who rides a KX450 in the woods, and he swears by a G2 throttle tamer. Turns a light switch throttle into a more manageable fuel control system.
What drone, and camera do you use? I have the hardest time getting good footage of me riding. Even when I have a friend film me it's not always great. You are out there alone a lot, and still capture awesome footage.
K buddy I've watched all the vids. I have Husqvarna and this bike. You are riding it like a 300. It's built to get after it. Your turning standing up on flats. It's a powerful bike that requires high side seating with throttle. It turns better with more. I know it's not common. I can keep up w 2 strokes no issues. Only because I get after it before the tech. Then just tap the rear like a motocross bike in the turns and throttle out. It's heaven.
Kyle, regarding drone. First time ever commenting, been watching for years amd enjoy. Been thinking of buying a follow drone. I notice you are always looking for it. Do you loose them often? Just curious. Best regards and good work as always. Thanks
What changes were made from 2022 to the 2023 450 Fx?? Been waiting a month for a 2023, but dealer says there isn't one in sight and they dont know when theyll have one. They only have a 2022 in stock. Thanks for any info
@EPT915G dude! You'll have that bike for a looong time! Do some heat cycling and break it in by varying the rpms a lot the 2 hrs. Then dump that first oil at 2 hrs and the 2nd at 5 hrs. The first 2 oil changes are the most important! Clean oil is cheap insurance!
It seems like there’s a strange unwritten code that you can’t ask where guys are riding, or that you don’t want to give any location specifics? Why the gate keeping? I realize you don’t want to be a tour guide. But why not post the GPS coordinates in the video descriptions? There’s nobody else out there on this trail, so I don’t believe you need to worry about riding in a crowd. How many trails have we seen get shut down because “they don’t get used”? In the 4x4 community 4-wheel enthusiasts share information. Why is it different in the dirt bike community? It would be a great service to our community if you would give us some coordinates. Thanks.
In Utah where this was filmed, we have seen many areas become restricted to motorcycles. Most guys are happy to tell you where they like to ride in private, but posting all over the internet is a fast pass to hikers, mountain bikers, horseback riders, and residents getting all out of shape because of the noise and “environmental impact” they think we have.
@@jacoblarsen543 I’m a Utah native, born and raised. While I appreciate your response I don’t buy it. Not posting where you’re riding because you’re afraid of getting shut down or overrun is superstitious nonsense. If we use the trails they will stay open. The more of us out there the less likely horse back riders, mountain bikers, etc will be able to kick us out. We need to ban together and support our Dirt Biking community. Also, I don’t think that hikers, horse back riders, mountain bikers are watching the Dirt Bike channel looking for new trails
@@davidjhundley6423 I agree that the dirtbiking community could be much more inclusive, but its complicated when there are independent riders that don't have any interest in community or respect for trails/people. I've been yelled at by other people on legal trails more than once, even when I make an effort to be courteous. It always comes down to a battle of opinions and perspectives. I'm more than happy to share trails with anybody that asks, and so is Kyle if you reach out privately.
No wonder you have flame-out issues as I've never heard it go over 5000rpm and you barely ride above idle, open her up on this wide open stuff dude have some fun and leave the slow putt-putt riding for the mountains.
I luv the sound of fourstrokes when riding them but man are they annoying and kinda sound like crap otherwise. Two stroke all the way. Great video keep up the good work
You need to do a 2023 wr450f review or a wr250f I'm wondering why you haven't done one yet all the reviews you have and I guess if you do and I haven't seen them I'm a jackass
Hey Kyle, I’m 6 feet 2 inches tall. How do you think that 450fx would fit me? I currently have a 2018 KTM 300xc which has taller risers and it fits me well. Thanks for the videos.
I'm at the opposite end of the spectrum. Shopping for bikes that fit either of us sounds like a huge struggle lol. What was your stock seat height on your 300xc? I'm 5'4" with a 30" ish inseam
I just bought a’22 yz450f new it hits way too hard for me. I ride mostly fairly tight single track I haven’t found a tune on the app that I like to tame the beast. Does anyone have a mild tune that they would like to share that I can try? As it stands I really think I bought the wrong bike I got 40 years of dirt bike riding and this is the first modern 4-stroke I have ever ridden this ain’t no old day 4-stroke and with 2 hrs on the bike I probably would say I really have a strong dislike of it. Can anyone help?
