It's no secret that those that win usually have the most developed skills.
Everyone knows that right?
But how do they become the best?
I can tell you that it's not natural talent. I have seen many players with barely an ounce of athleticism repeatedly dominate those with more "natural" ability.
It's because they put in the time and effort to develop all the skills they need to win.
It doesn't have to be a grind and endless drilling to get up to the level of play you desire.
We keep it fun.
What we do and how we do it is in this video.
We use this program to master not only our skills but help our students master them as well.

I just want to thank you both for this video. My drill partner and I faithfully do this entire program twice a week for the last 3-4 months and boy, can we sure tell that our game has elevated to a new level. Your dedication to help Pickleball players who are willing to put in the grind to become better players is so much appreciated. You two rock! PLeslie (Las Vegas, NV).

Wow! I can't believe I tripped across this drilling video. I'm constantly looking online for drills to move my game along. I'm currently a 4.0 rated player and I want to max out my pickle ball game where ever that may be according to my athletic ability. I love how you "simply" cover the critical components of the game and then end with a skinny singles game where I can utilize everything I just practiced. My search for the perfect drill is OVER! Thank You!!

My friend Ann and I did all these drills in order yesterday. It took two hours but was absolutely worth it. They give you real practice on all the important shots in the game. Some of it seems to have stuck in muscle memory as I played pretty well this morning. Will be doing a shortened version in the future to continue the progress hopefully. 😊

Excellent video with solid drills. I can't wait to add these to my practice. I just hope I can find someone who is as interested in drilling as I am. Most folks I know just want to play. But, as you aptly point out, the only real way to improve is to drill. Thanks for the video.

Sue Bricker I share your frustration. Everyone wants to play, play play, and think that if they can just run around and get to shots and smash at their opponents and win a bunch of rec games they are good players. It is almost impossible to find anyone who wants to drill for literally more than 5 mins.
@primetimepickleball
@primetimepickleball 4 года назад
That sometimes is the hardest part Sue, although all you have to do is find someone that is committed to improving their game. As for the drilling, start small and work your way up. You can have just as much fun drilling and playing if you make it fun.

I don’t see a backhand drop from the service line, should we move and take it always with a forehand when we’re doing a 3rd shot drop??
@primetimepickleball
@primetimepickleball 2 года назад
No, not always. If it's coming towards your body or in such a way where you won't have to move too far out of position and you'd prefer to take it with your forehand then do that. Just don't put yourself way out of position trying to take them all as a forehand. Sometimes it will be best to take it with a backhand to avoid getting very far out of position on the court.

Not sure how the scoring works on the drop drills. Other than hitting the ball out or in the net, how do you determine when a point is scored? Does the dropper have to get the ball in the kitchen? What about the net player? How does he lose a point if all he's doing is hitting the ball back the the dropper.
@primetimepickleball
@primetimepickleball 10 месяцев назад
If you hit it out or in the net then you lose the point. That applies to both players. If you miss the 3rd shot too high that's ok, you just keep going. Try not to do it again. The net player could still miss even though their job is easier. Don't overthink it. It will be very hard to win if you're the player at a disadvantage. It's more about the skills and less about the winning/losing.

Great Video guys. Can I add one thing to your transition zone drill starting at 12:06, I know you said to try to play the point out, but this is a great spot to practice on the block shots and make a drill out of it too, so maybe incorporating it to this drill would be helpful to work on those shots. (just a suggestion, but overall, awesome video)
@primetimepickleball
@primetimepickleball 4 года назад
Thanks Bennett, when we play the transition zone drill, the net player is trying to end the point (if they can). The player in the transition zone is playing defense as long as they can, which includes blocked shots, reset shots etc.

Great detailed instruction and I can't wait to try this drill with my wife. I really appreciate the printable outline, BUT you made it so colorful it would take a great deal of ink to print. @primetimepickleball

On average it would probably take 1 1/2- 2 hours. Obviously it depends on how long your rallies are. To shorten the length, you can just run through each drill 1 or 2 times instead of 3.
