Definitely test drive the MDX Type S. You will LOVE the air suspension. The clear winner of the two. As I always do, find one that’s one or two years old and save 20 grand. A used Acura with 10K miles is, as they say, barely broken in and the warranty is transferable. Who cares if it’s the latest year when it’s exactly like last years model.
An excellent presentation and fair comparison. I plan to purchase an Acura MDX Type S in 2025 which will have a new infotainment console with current technology according to a recent announcement by Acura. A touch screen is expected and that ridiculous dated touch pad will be eliminated. In my opinion, the Acura MDX Type S has a more stylish look and should be more fun to drive.
I would go with the Acura MDX for that naturally aspirated V6. I know Toyota had been doing turbo engines since the 80s now but their new lineups (Tundra, Tacoma, Sequoia, and RX) have been recalled for engine defects. For a car the size of the TX, it would need at least 6 engines to help haul family and cargo especially in the winter time.
@@carhelpcorner Thanks, I’ve never owned an Acura. I had a Lexus with the 3.5 V6 . It was an awesome engine. If Toyota built a vehicle with the 3.5 V6, I’d buy it.
I bought the 2024 MDX A Type about 2 months ago, because of the improved 10 speed transmission. Both vehicles look good, but I'm happy with the choice.
MDX is the SUV I would definitely chose because of its 3.5 v6 I'm not into 4cyl highbyrid vehicles. I'm actually waiting on the 25 MDX I definitely like the updated touch screen definitely in all black
@@Babyshark2469 I decided on buying a 23 Tacoma TRD Off Road, double cab, 6’ bed with the Premium and Technology pkgs. It has the 3.5L naturally aspirated V6. We had 3 vehicles and decided to sell our older low mileage 4WD pickup and our Forester Touring LEMON and bought the Toyota. My wife’s Outback has low mileage so she will be driving it for another 10-12 years before it needs replacing. I drive only 6-7K miles per year, so in 20 years my 23 Tacoma will have less than 150K miles. I’m getting long in the tooth, so I’m sure that I’ll keep our (my) Tacoma until I die. My wife will then have to be using it to plow the snow off our road to the county road.
I'm original owner of 2008 MDX. 300hp V6. Great handling system(SH-AWD). Aways plenty of smooth power on demand. 16 years of headache free driving tells it all. All original on my vehicle except 4 sets of brake pads(420000km). I'm waiting and hope for hybrid plug in version of MDX. If not, this vehicle will take me to 20-year mark and then I'll be looking for new replacement. My vote is on MDX,
@@varjunind1 I’ve got almost 7k miles now. I like it more and more all the time. I did have an issues with the air intake getting blocked with snow/ice in a recent abnormal blizzard. It wasn’t a big deal and I doubt it will happen again. Lexus proved a 23 RX loaner and I was immediately reminded at how much better I like the TX
Acura MDX is a family 3 row SUV without 3rd row vents!?! That’s a big miss and even with their latest refresh for current generation they didn’t course correct.
Aesthetically, the Lexus by a mile, inside and out. For me, in a Family Hauler, performance is subservient to safety, handling and braking. I've sold more Acura/Honda than Lexus. But for my familia, Lexus rules!!! For my personal use, Honda Civic Coupe is just fine.
That 3rd row in the Acura is not for humans. I haven't seen the Lexus just yet but note it is definitely longer. I do like that Acura gives a full bench for the second row
I thought the same thing, but I bought the MDX anyway. After a week, you come to love the touchpad. It is not a mouse, but a mirror of the screen. It’s very fast once you get it down, and you don’t have to move your hand, lean forward, or smudge your screen. The people who rant about the touchpad haven’t used it for an extended period of time.
By far the Lexus TX is better than all Acuras combined. Have you looked at any 10 year old Lexus, how amazingly they age gracefully. Acuras are pretty much a rust bucket by 10th year and disastrous suspension components. Poor quality overall for the price.
Both insanely overpriced, massive depreciation, high profile car jacking vehicles and provide far too much space needed. The MDX wins even with its horrible gas guzzling engine. 👎🏼 Approaching $100,000! You might as well throw your money out a window. You’ll lose $30,000 as you drive off the lot. 😜 🙃
The inflation on these has been wild. A loaded MDX could be had for $60k back in 2020. Still, the Type S with that turbo V6 and air suspension now feels damn closer to a BMW X5 or Porsche Cayenne than ever.
@@carhelpcorner Honestly, it just become ridiculous. Considering you can double money every 6-8 years invested wisely, it’s literally throwing massive amounts of money away forever. Possibly a million dollars over 30-35 years. 🤪
@billyrock8305 then again you may be dead or seriously incapacitated long before then. Sometimes living a quality life may be preferable to waiting until you are old or sick....then all the money means nothing.
@@billyrock8305 Only the rich or upper middle class should buy this type of vehicle. They should be able to get to 1 million even with buying these types of vehicles
@@s.patterson5698 Exactly. All that lost money foolishly wasted means nothing. Why not donate the money thrown away to charity? Help the less fortunate have a quality life? Make a difference in someone’s life rather than looking like a narcissistic with a badge.
