Another great video. That is exactly why I bought the 24 Defender limited is because it fits what I use it for. Hunting and property work . It is also a fun machine to trail ride but probably not to the extreme. Keep the vids coming.
These 2 machines were the decision I was working on a few weeks ago. Defender Lonestar Limited or Xpedition ADV5 NorthStar. I ended up going with the Xpedition and absolutely love it, but I dont think there is a wrong answer here - both are incredibly comfortable and capable trail limos.
I have a 4 door 2023 Defender with the XMR package. It has the Smart Lock which is fantastic, and it also has an additional rocker switch for Trail/Mud modes. This changes how/when the diffs lock, basically telling the machine whether it's on a slippery surface rather than a hard surface. This leads to a total of 8 different combinations of 1, 2, 3, and 4 wheel drive depending on what you're doing. The versatility the Defender offers in its 4x4 modes is simply unmatched.
first little hill I notice you can hear the Polaris transmission whine while coasting down and it seems like the exhaust is louder on the Polaris as well....not sure though.
Im 6'4" tall. Which one has the most leg room? I dont really off road...mostly use to run down to our pool and toe a small Jon boat to the lake in our subdivision.
My dad is 6 foot four and he fits in either of them fine I think between these two it really just comes down to style of writing and your purpose of use. In your reference of use I’d get the defender
@@bjterrell8356 xpedtion has one of the best crawling gears I’ve ever used. You can creep like no other. The clutching is so good if you could clear it, you could add 35s and not have any issue.
When you were comparing flex at the first of the video and talked about the double spring ( which works very well) you were nowhere near the same place and looks as tho you were trying to promote the Polaris
@@americandream_89 true but it makes the defender soooo much better trail riding. I've noticed that the body roll isn't as bad as I thought with them off
Beautiful, but I love my 21 Defender XMR. Front and rear lockers and 15 inch clearance. Looks like you are driving a limo through the bush…that is a road and large farm vehicle.
Geo could’ve did the whole course…… this wasn’t a hard-core off-road showcasing my point was to showcase suspension flex and ride. Hopefully you’re able to see that.
I bought my 23 HD10 defender 2 days before the 24's were announced. NOT smart (loc). Have you done any kind of......."it feels like it might tip over" vs "it did tip over" on some uneven ground. I basically hate mine for the "it feels like it is about to tip over". I might tie a rope around the window pillar and my John Deere tractor and see just what its gonna take to tip it over. Not a fun feeling on the rough stuff not knowing where that point is. Travel is nothing as advertised. My guess is you got 2 inches up and 2 inches down and then you lift a tire or two tires and it's a roller coaster ride after that. Anyone who can't afford to go to the fair, just go for a ride in a defender in the back country, you get a ride that you'll need clean undershorts afterwards. I had stiff frame, no suspension go cart as a kid with a 2.5 briggs on it. That go cart had more flex than my can am. Wondering if shock therapy has a fix for this?
@@grantparnes I’ve had mine in several places people had to hold on the opposite side. When you feel like it’s going to tip it probably is. They are very top heavy and like you said they have no suspension travel. Adding a plus one wheel and 32s makes a big difference. But it will widen your turning radius. The defender is a great machine but wasn’t intended for hardcore trails.
@@americandream_89 Thanks for the feedback. I am one of those guys you heard about who bought a new 2023 Jeep Gladiator Rubicon off the dealer lot in 2024 for 22K off sticker. Put a teraflex lift and some 37 inch milestars on and now my can am kinda sits. In fact I have had the can am 11 months and it has less than 300 miles on it. I do not know how they get away with saying the can am has 9 inches of travel (or whatever than number is in the advertisement) and it clearly is not even close to half that. I suppose it could with no sway bars, but that is not how its sold.
@@americandream_89 I have tons of experience, and point I’m making is upgraded suspension and tube bumpers on 4Runner kills these 50k rides and your in 30
@@lanceevans4053 We ride with people all the time doing the scenario you’re trying to reference. It takes a ton of money and a complete build and then your still way slower going through the woods than an expedition or any side-by-side.
4:21 unfair comparison, you didn't go at the same angle, with the polaris you were right up to the stone and with the defender almost a full vehicle away... with the defender you went more at 90 degrees to the water and even passed the part where the drop towards the water steeper...make a pass along exactly the same tracks..
