In this video we compare the 2024 Chevy Traverse Z71 to the 2024 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy. Both of these vehicles compete in the midsize 3 row segment of SUV however are not the equivalent trims for the same features and options in each lineup. The do however come in at the same price point of the mid $50,000 range depending on how you equip the Traverse Z71. With a next generation Palisade still over a year away, what are your thoughts on this comparison? Do you prefer the low price tag and slightly smaller footprint of the current Palisade or do you like the new styling, interior, and technology available on the Traverse? I paid 52 for my z71. Has the super cruise and all the driver assist packages no sunroof. Love it best ride I’ve ever bought

New Chevrolet Traverse design is mind blowing, it looks that good to me.

My wife just ordered the new Z71 Traverse and she is in love with it, especially for our snowy winters. Our only really nit picky deal with the Traverse is we wish it had the integrated sun shades for the kiddos but other than that, Traverse all day long.

That should be something that they implement given most of the competition offers them. Thanks for watching!

Thick steering wheel provides a sense of quality to me. I think the Traverse’s price is justified by its practicality mainly due to it’s spaciousness and so much room, but also the level of technology it offers, and simply the design of this model is beautiful. The powertrain also produces impressive power without horrid fuel economy. Luxury is not the focus here, there’s the GMC Acadia and gorgeous Buick Enclave for that buyer. That’s the reason the Premier and High Country trims are gone.

I own a 2024 Palisade Caligraphy. No regets at all. The Traverse does look nice though.

Should have done vs the xrt trim
@CarsMadeSimple
@CarsMadeSimple Месяц назад
The XRT offers no additional capability on the Palisade. The Z71 is likely closest to the SEL Premium in terms of features (although the Palisade still offers more in most areas).

RS Traverse would have been a better comparison where the Traverse is luxury maxed out. Nevertheless Traverse all day. I like the Z71 price and off road capability better

One of the first things I mentioned in the video

I'd go with the Traverse, hands down. But that said, I wouldn't pay over $50k for either one of these. If you're spending that much, might as well spend a little more and get a Tahoe. But yeah, I'd definitely consider a lower trim in the $40's.
@user-gd1br4su7n
@user-gd1br4su7n Месяц назад
The Tahoe with the same features is not “a little more”. Plus most people who are looking at a traverse don’t want a thirsty V8 or a diesel
@stephencooper3583
@stephencooper3583 Месяц назад
@@user-gd1br4su7n ... fair enough. All I'm saying is that if I'm looking to buy a SUV in the $55k range, I'd either be looking at a lower trim large SUV like a Tahoe, or maybe something slightly more upscale like a Buick Enclave (same body as Traverse, just a little nicer). I'd definitely consider the Traverse at $40-something. Just makes more sense to me at that price range. I get that some people like the high trims... $50k just seems a bit much to me. But to each their own.

Available as a dealer installed accessory. It's part of the mirror.

I'm literally comparing the RS and Calligraphy against each other right now... My thoughts are, Traverse is bigger, more expensive, but has less features (Palisade has massage seat for driver, HUD, heated/ventilated in mid and heated in 3rd row, etc.) than the Palisade. Super cruise is an x factor for me, it sounds a lot more robust than Hyundai's driving assistance package. Waiting to test drive the Traverse when they pop up on dealer lots to make a final decision.
@CarsMadeSimple
@CarsMadeSimple Месяц назад
That's all correct assumptions/observations. Super Cruise should be a factor in your decision because it is a more robust systems but I have to say for all of the "hands on" assistance systems I've used Hyundai's is one of the best and least "naggy". It's was a pleasure to use in my Ioniq 6 road trip last year. It will be interesting to see how GM prices the Enclave but I think they are trying to differentiate all three models (Traverse, Acadia, Enclave) as best as possible given the powertrain and size will now be the same again. I would recommend checking out the Acadia Denali but that is even more than the Traverse RS so it might not be in the budget for most people which is totally understandable.
@timryan9944
@timryan9944 Месяц назад
@@CarsMadeSimple thanks for the added info! I did look at the Acadia Denali, but the price difference of almost 10k didn’t seem justified. Maybe I’ll have to see it in person to get a better gauge.

@@timryan9944 Be advised that Super Cruise is subscription based. After the Onstar trial it's $25.00 per month.

Palisade easily, I'll take a naturally aspirated V6 over a turbo 4 anyday. Plus the Palisade has a better warranty and has actually held it's value pretty well. It also costs less and has more features even though it's an older design.

A turbo 4 for that beast? Coupled with that legendary Chevy reliability…. Buy that extended warranty. Hyundai design is years older yet Chevy still behind in some areas.

@yamaha642
@yamaha642 Месяц назад
I think that the comparison should be between the Traverse RS and the Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy. Of course the Chevy is another $5K or so and still doesn't have all of the features that the Hyundai has, Plus a longer warranty, lifetime Blue link for the original owner and 3 year free basic maintenance. HMM. Is there enough more room to offset what you don't get?
@joshmoyer815

Own a 2013 traverse. Would never ever buy another one it’s a pos in reliability and I’m sure gm’s reliability isn’t any better. There is no way in hell I would buy any gm product with a turbo. They can’t even get regular motors right. Compare warranties there is no comparison.

Hyundai’s warranty doesn’t even extend to second owners. You’re correct, there is no comparison.

Traverse looks like a Pathfinder. Then let's talk about GM reliability... well let's just say lately is less than desirable. This all coming from a life long GM buyer.
