Belle Isle “did not allow for a lot of passing or excitement.”… LOL… um, in its last race Belle Isle had 280 ON TRACK passes with no cautions!!! And was an exciting race watching Power hold off Rossi for the win… the year before Pato Oward overtook Newgarden on the back stretch with only 3 laps to go… It was extremely exciting… There should be a reference to this video in the dictionary next to the word “wrong”! Few, if any, street circuits will ever see 280 on track passes (with no cautions)… again, you were wrong!

I work for Rocket downtown and I was really hoping that the new track layout would mean they were going to re-pave or repair some of this pavement. But it looks like they haven't so far so I feel bad for these drivers. Some parts of this pavement are unpleasant to drive over in my truck with an off-road suspensions. It's going to rattle their teeth out with no suspension lol.

There’s a beautiful 2 mile oval not far from Detroit that sits empty most weekends. Wouldn’t piss off any locals to run there. Maybe run a 250 lap “Grand Prix” out there.

At 1.7 miles and only 9 turns, I'm wondering what the average lap times will be? Hopefully, it will be a faster circuit than Belle Isle was.

Detroit has a grand prix? Aren't they afraid the race cars will get car-jacked? And/or the drivers shot? Detroit is dead. I know. I was born there. Talk about a disconnect. This video is delusional.

This event has brought, since 2012 when it returned at Belle Isle many millions to help renovate the city and grow local businesses. It's 3 day event that brings communities together. Detroit isn't dead🤙

@@enjoiMIlife Who paid you to write that? When I was born in Detroit in 1954 it had over 1 million people, was the third largest city in America, and was the manufacturing hub of the USA. Look at it now. Only about 500,000 (give or take), rampant crime, failed schools: the place where my granfather had his gas station off Warren Ave looks more like a bombed out area in 1945 Germany.

@Jon Threlkeld I've attented every race since 2012. The race has restored belle isle, got scott fountain working, brings tourists to the local city that otherwise would've maybe never visited. If I was as negative as you are I'd be dead too. Don't come to the event then. Seems you're stuck in 1954 and not what is being positively impacted in 2023. Nobody wants your glass always empty mentality.

@@pattheriot3963 My immediate family left in 1959 but returned for visits frequently. I still have relatives living in Bloomfield Hills, Ann Arbor, and Rochester.
