Thank you for creating this review. I'm in the market for an SUV and have been looking at the Ford Explorer ST. I think this is one of the most thorough and clear reviews I have ever seen for a vehicle. It was almost like you had a photographic memory and studied the manual. Very informative, thanks again. They brought back Forest Green. That was the color of my '99 SVT Contour. At 50-60K, not interested, but with new vehicle sales tanking and Ford depreciation, a low mileage used one might be a great deal after a couple years.
Great review!! I love my 23" now that we figured out what that annoying clunk was coming from the front end. It took two trips to the dealership and a loaner car, but I got it back and while they were removing the right front strut for replacement they noticed the upper bearing had separated. So they installed a new RF strut, upper bearing, strut mount, and did an alignment. Reading through the invoice it says “Found SSM 52405 for front strut noise and vehicle falls within build date of SSM criteria" So Ford is aware of this issue somewhere along the line. I know a lot of folks are experiencing this same issue and no one seemed to have a solution I could find. Except that the dealerships were telling them it was normal. DON'T buy that crap if yours is making what sounds like a strut or ball joint noise from the front end!! This SUV runs like a bat out of hell, especially in sport mode. It has a stiff ride and handles like a go cart instead of a 4700lb SUV. I'm doing the ST Experience in Asheville next month and can't wait!!
Sport isn't locking you out of higher gears, you just aren't going fast enough. In manual mode it won't let you shift if the rpms will drop too far so you have to go over 60 I think for 7th gear.
This one is not available here in South Africa it looks like a Ranger Rover on the front grill. I love Ford cars my dream Ford cars is Ford Ranger Raptor and Ford Everest platinum wow I love those cars.
This is A beautiful SUV. If I win the lottery I can see this car being a fun weekend cruiser for my mom and her husband one we take out and cruise in. Are Toyota RAV4 2018 is getting up in miles so I'd probably treat my mom to the Explorer to help put less miles on the RAV4. This is on my list of cars to look at for them.
