Also, this interesting/cool color is Deep Bronze Metallic. If you guys have any questions on the Canyon let me know so I can get them answered! Thank you for watching! -Ceall
Style of this truck is a home run! Seeing it in person definitely grabbed my attention. Personally wish they’d have a naturally aspirated engine option. Awesome video👍🏼
Thank you so much for the kind words!! I totally agree, the new style of these truck is so sharp, Really to be honest it could handle my towing needs, I’m just not ready to give up my Silverado yet. 😂 Thanks for watching jrod!
Not so sure anymore... the Tacoma aint what it used to be. That said, surely it will be more reliable than anything from GMC or Ford... however, the average car buyer today keeps their vehicle for 3 years. So does long term reliability even matter? Any of these things should get you to 100K without serious issue.
@@GRAFHC That’s the kind of the methodology I’m using making the decision. I simply just don’t keep my vehicles a long time so I’m never worried about what kind of shape will this be in in 8 years or how will it be at 150k miles? I just am not in a vehicle for that long. Thank you for watching! -Ceall
@@CEALLIFORNIA Thanks for replying! I agree with you... in fact I just recently took delivery of a 24 Canyon AT4 and decided it would be my new truck even knowing the gremlins lurking in the electrical system. My whole life I've always purchased imports, but went domestic this time simply because the Canyon looks and drives so nice. So far I have ZERO complaints, it's everything I could have hoped for and plenty more. My philosophy is I'll be wanting new tech in 5 years anyway so by the time I've got 60K or 70K miles on it I'll be trading it in. I enjoyed your review, just subscribed. Take care!
@@GRAFHC Thank you very much for subscribing! I'll be looking for you in future reviews! Really not a lot of people know this, but regardless of brand, trucks hold value pretty well anyway simply because it's a truck and they're useful. Plus you'll be doing precisely what I'm doing, I'm getting rid of mine pretty much right when the powertrain warranty is up and to be honest, I was already bored of the truck a year ago, but I figured I'd get my money out of it! 😂 Thanks again for watching, you're gonna love your AT4, I love the stance and the wheels on the AT4. Tough looking trucks!
If I didn't sell or trade my vehicles every 5 or 6 years I'd consider a Canyon or Colorado. I bought a Tacoma because they have millions of lunatic enthusiasts that'll pay top dollar for mine when I sell it.
I was gonna buy one of these and assumed it was 4x4 It wasn’t they wanted 50k instead bought a Colorado Trail Boss with every option you can get including the 430# torque calibration spray in liner cruise, sliding window with defrost power seat tow pkg damped tailgate with storage for 41,100 plus it’s a 4x4!,,, they also threw in nice all weather floor mats that cover all the carpet not just some!
How reliable do you think the 2024 GMC Canyon will be? The biggest potential issue that I hear from others is the touch screen having problems and not being able to access the headlights. I'm looking to potentially buy but I'm not sure about the reliability.
If I was a buyer that was going to keep my truck for maybe 1-5 years, I would buy the GMC Canyon. If I was a buyer looking to keep my truck for 5 years or more, I’d buy the Nissan Frontier. I just don’t have an incredible amount of faith in the high-output 2.7L turbo after the powertrain warranty is up. Thank you for watching, I hope this helps!
I checked this personally myself. I am a 6’2” 245lb big old boy and could easily sit in the front seat of the Toyota Tacoma. The only way I could sit in the back seat of the Tacoma was to pull the front seat forward until my knees almost hit the dashboard. The same condition exists in the Canyon, with one MAJOR exception. There is about 3-4 inches more front legroom in the Canyon, plus about 1.5 inches more in the back seat. So I pulled the front seat forward 2.5 inches (about where the Tacoma starts) and voila . . . I could easily sit in both the front and back seats. 3.5-4 inches in the back seat makes a HUGE difference. Love my AT4!!!
Nice! I love to hear it! There’s not a lot of midsize trucks that fit us taller guys, it’s just a characteristic of the segment. I’m happy to hear you’re liking your AT4 so far, thank you for watching! -Ceall
I like both the Tacoma and the Canyon. I actually prefer the styling on the Canyon. My biggest issue with the Tacoma is the real world payload is too low. Most Tacomas I am seeing have about 1200 lbs of payload. Given I tow a small camper and haul camping gear, I need about 1500 lbs of payload and the Tacoma’s max payload of 1705 lbs is nonexistent in the real world of trucks on dealer lots. I have seen Canyons with 1500 to nearly 1700 lbs of real world payload. I can’t believe I would pick a GM product over a Toyota product, but the Tacoma is just too weak on payload for my needs.
There’s your advantage of having leaf springs on the higher trim levels instead of coil springs. Plus if you plan on only keeping this truck maybe 5 years, there shouldn’t be much to worry about if you’re within powertrain warranty. My 2.7L Silverado just rolled 48k miles and is still running great, I have a couple reviews of it’s reliability overall on the channel. Thank you for watching!
That’s a very good reason! I loved the 8 foot box on my F-150. I miss it quite a bit, but the 6 1/2 in the Silverado does okay too. Thank you for watching!
@@CEALLIFORNIA It makes no sense that the 5-foot bed paired can be paired with the 6-speed manual since that's more of a commuter configuration vs. 6-foot bed and 6-speed manual which would be more of a utility/work configuration.
@@richardlee2642 it’s something a lot of manufacturers are doing now. Chevy included, Ford, most of them are guilty of it. If they offer less configurations, it costs them less money because then they can make more of the same thing and not change over assembly lines for anything and just keep making the same stuff. It’s all about cost control unfortunately.
I was on a waiting list for a new Tacoma but once they started showing, I wasn't impressed seeing the Tacoma upclose. I've had three new F150 Lariats, but my 2023 F150 had transmission issues with less than 15 K miles. Anyway, I purchased a 2024 GMC Canyon, I love it, it blowes away the new Tacoma.
I’m sorry you ran into issues with your F-150. It’s amazing how these new Tacomas are piling up on the lots, I figured once they hit the lots they’d be hard to keep in stock, but it’s been the opposite. What trim Canyon did you get? I love this new body style on it, very sharp look overall. Thank you for watching and congratulations on the purchase!
GM seems to pick and choose what vehicles get what gauge setups for some reason. I just test drove the 2024 GMC Acadia today and it only has 3 dash setup choices, whereas the 2024 Chevy Traverse (essentially the same car) I tested had 4 dash setup choices. Needless to say, I liked the Chevy Traverse dash setup a little bit better. When I finally get my hands on a Canyon Denali I’ll check that out. Thank you for watching!
Where is this? The sticker price doesn't match what I see at my dealer or online. The base price AND the options are lower on your sticker than what I just looked at in person the other day.
I have the dealer linked in the description, this one was a 2WD model and prices may vary region to region, and prices of options and base prices sometimes do change over time even just in the matter of a few months, I’ve seen it happen on window stickers. I hope this helps, thank you for watching! -Ceall
I only payed a thousand dollars more for my 4x4 Colorado Trail Boss than this 2 wheel drive, plus I got damped TG with storage in TG like that one, I got factory sprayed bed liner, power seat, tow package , sliding rear window , same HP and 430# torque , I got red front tow hooks too! 41,100
You got a pretty sweet deal and in my opinion the Colorado Trail Boss stands out a little more than this one does. This one blends in a little more, and the Colorado TB has more flair, I like it’s styling. Thank you for watching, enjoy your new ride!
I was able to come across this video! ru-vid.com8viZapgHThE?si=P3B0luAqG-kJY6Nd In the video, it looks like if you get the Canyon Elevation in black that the B-Pillars will come painted in black, instead of being a trim piece. I hope this helps, thank you for watching! -Ceall
The steering wheel and passenger dash were great, but I could’ve used some more “pizzazz” in the center stack/center console area too. Thank you for watching!
I believe the Canyon AT4 is more equal to the Colorado Trail Boss. I like both trucks, but I think I might go with the Canyon for the better looking front clip, although I do like the overall styling of the Trail Boss package. Thank you for watching!
Thank you so much, I appreciate you watching my videos I’ve seen you on a couple of my other ones!! Thank you so much for watching again, I’m gonna try to keep the style like this going forward if people continue to like it! -Ceall
It was a little disappointing to see a truck at this price range doesn’t have power seats. As for the garage door opener, I have seen a lot of guys talking on a website, called ColoradoFans, and they’ve all come up with a lot of good solutions to a make shift garage door opener, some even using your own cell phone! I hope this helps, thank you for watching!
@@gilbertdinho1710 Well as much as I love Chevy/GMC, it still is unproven how the 2.7L will now handle this now higher power output. I have the low output 2.7L in my 2021 Silverado (310hp/348lb.ft.) and it’s been incredibly reliable, but now power output has been brought up substantially on the torque front. So if you truly are going to run this truck 7-10 years, I know Toyota’s 2.4L Turbo is unproven as well, but due to Toyota’s reputation for reliability overall, I would have to recommend the Tacoma as your long term choice even though I’m not a fan of Toyota. I hope this helps my man!
Great review brother! That is really a nice truck. Love the looks so much and more than enough power. I agree with you that I don't know what GMC was thinking not having an actual switch for the lighting..so dumb to me but I guess they have their reasons. Hoping that you are doing so great! Looks like it was a chilly day for sure! Take care and be well always!
Thanks James!! The look of this truck is GORGEOUS, but the headlight switch did piss me off man, like come on… I have to fumble and screw around to find headlights? 😂 it was a chilly one, about 25 degrees with wind so may have been colder. But that was the last day of winter I think, it’s been getting much warmer now. Been a great week so far, I hope it stays that way, do something fun this weekend brother!! 🤙🏻
That is really insane not having actual controls for the lighting. I think more people than not like to have actual controls. I had a loaner car and everything was through the infotainment which was so not cool. Oh that is chilly for sure! We are sett to get another cold rain storm this weekend which works for me since it will be wicked hot soon enough lol! Happy Friday eve to your brother and hoping that you have a great weekend!@@CEALLIFORNIA
It was a Lincoln MKZ lol. My Mom had a town car and the dealer gave me that as a loaner. It was a hybrid and soooo gutless! I was so glad to get the town car back lol! That was a cruiser for sure!@@CEALLIFORNIA
The town cars were freaking tanks! Such great cars man. My mom really wants an MKX/Nautilus, I love the look of them too. Happy to see Lincoln still around these days and not going the way of Mercury/Oldsmobile!
My 2024 Canyon Elevation (1150 miles) has been in the shop for almost 2 weeks now. Roof dented from the car wash blower (known issue) and there are 2 oil leaks, one of which involves dropping the transmission to fix. A part needed is on backorder. There have also been other issues, such as mis-aligned doors and warning lights activating such as the adaptive cruise control and check engine. I have asked GMC to replace the truck, and they have told me to pound sand.
I am so sorry to hear your story with the Canyon man, it sucks, no matter what car you buy today with the way the build quality has been industry wide, with any brand you risk getting a lemon. I’m sorry it had to happen to you. My Silverado was in the shop for about 2-3 weeks for a throttle body that had to be replaced at 32k miles, and the part was on back order. So that’s what took the repair so long. I was left without a rental for those 2-3 weeks because the dealership I took it to was out of rentals and GM was making sound iffy if they were going to cover a rental or not. I hope all your truck’s demons get worked out and that she gets back on the road soon. Thank you for watching!
Only a few had rear main seal issue, which is yours unfortunately, can happen from any factory. All rear main seals are a transmission drop, from any vehicle. Easy fix tbh if you have the part/lift.
A brand new truck that’s already showing rust on the leaf springs. My friend’s canyon had the frame rust out in under 10 years. Nice looking truck, but likely garbage like the previous generations.
This road salt up here gets to all these cars. It’s hard to find any car that doesn’t look like this in a couple-few months time. Im sorry to hear about your friend’s Canyon, it’s too bad because they are a really good looking truck. Thank you for watching! -Ceall
You can still manually control your brights with the stalk on the left side of the steering column like before. Thank god they at least left that alone! 😂 Thank you for watching!
@@CEALLIFORNIA Agree, nothing can beat the ATX4 interior.... I've been looking at midsized trucks since the Frontier re-design. Every truck has some small, but significant flaw (to me). Frontier, worst mpg, meh components/ride qualities. RR, orange interior strangeness/no rear ac/intentionally overly loud v6 moan exhaust. Tacoma, overpriced, no rear/ac, meh rear space. Chevy/GMC, removing android auto/apple car play, moves lights touchscreen, loves white/gloss black on their top tier "dirt" trim... Ultimate truck for me would be a Ford Ranger Tremor with ATX4 brown interior. Lol, sorry just wanted to rant a bit. Anyhow, thanks for the info :)
@@oni-one574 No problem at all man, this is the space for car talk! The Canyon/Colorado should still have Apple CarPlay and AA, it’s just that built-in navigation is no longer, and they’ve replaced it with Google Maps integration that you have to pay for. I’ve driven almost all of them and can tell you for me personally, it would come down to GMC Canyon and Nissan Frontier as my top 2. Then whatever one I could get the best deal on is probably what I would go for. That’s coming from a Ford fan. I love the F-150, but the Ranger to me is just not as competitive as it once was as a small truck.
Truck companies know what they're doing. All form over function now. We got the best looking generations of trucks we've ever seen but they're all turbo 4's except the Frontier. If the new Canyon, Tacoma or even the Colorado had natural V6's they would've already had my 50k.
That is so true man, Nissan is now sitting on a gold mine with that V6 Frontier, I drove it and loved it for its simplicity! If I was in the market but didn’t want a Frontier, I think Canyon would definitely be my next choice. Thank you for watching!
I’m not crazy about the Ridgeline as a whole, but I will admit that the V6 in the Ridgeline is an absolute blast to drive! Great sound as well. Thank you for watching!
@@CEALLIFORNIA Honda like the nissian are the old tried and true engines Don’t care about the numbers the v4’s produce There’s no replacement for displacement
@lordrayden3045 100%! Depending on your needs they are both excellent trucks, I like the Nissan just a little more as a whole. But the Ridgeline had so many cool Easter eggs! The speakers inside the walls of the bed, the car-like trunk, and probably one of the biggest back seats I’ve seen in any of the smaller trucks.
Does the 24' GMC Canyon Elevation model have a lift-kit cause it looks like it's lifted like the AT 4/Chevy Colorado Trailboss or ZR2 or is it because has bigger rims/tires?
It’s my understanding that both the Elevation and AT4 have the same suspension with the 2” lift as standard. The biggest distinction between wheels I’m seeing is, although the wheel design is the same, you will see more often than not the Elevation’s having a dark/black rim, while the AT4 gets a “diamond cut/machined” finish. So depending on what rim finish you like better, that could play a factor in your decision too. Thank you for watching! -Ceall
On the market to trade my vehicle in. Its been good to me but I deserve an upgrade its a 2012 Nissan XTerra that my parents got me in 2017 when my 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse went down the tube and became a money pit. I have had 2 vehicles in my life and this will be my first new vehicle as both the others have been used and I went test driving the other day and test drove Broncos because thats really what I was eying but after realizing it wasn’t really what I want despite loving them aesthetically, I hopped into the GMC and absolutely fell in love with the GMC Canyon Elevation! Will be going back to bring one home!
I loved the XTerra’s when they were out and still do to this day, it’s a great vehicle to keep for as long as you did! I myself loved the interior of the GMC Canyon as well, everything looks great on the outside and inside. I think you’re making the right choice, the Canyon should be much more reliable than the Bronco. Enjoy your new ride, I know you will! Thank you for watching!
That’s a great point! I remember when I bought my own Silverado, I was disappointed to see that there was no 4LO, but she only leaves the pavement a few times a year so I was alright with it, but still disappointed! 😂 Thank you for watching!
@@joescott1377 It is absolutely a goofy idea, honestly I don’t know if I’d buy the truck just for that. 😂 It just seems really unnecessary. How much are they saving not making and installing a headlight switch? Maybe $5? lol
Again as mentioned in the video, it depends on how long you’re keeping the truck as to which truck you should choose. The 2.7L has been real world tested since 2019 in the Silverado, an even bigger platform than the Canyon here, and has done just fine for me overall after 48k miles in my own 2021 Silverado. Thank you for watching. -Ceall
@@CEALLIFORNIA I saw what you mentioned. However, my experience has been much different. My 2023 2.7L in my Canyon has been a constant problem. I no longer trust the vehicle. And it appears I am not alone.
@@kerplunk38880 I am a little concerned with how the 2.7L will handle that now higher torque, because the version that I have of the 2.7L (310hp/348lb.ft.) has been very reliable. I don’t know why they had to mess with a good thing that was working, just to chase some higher numbers to boast about. But that is the name of the game in the truck world, chase higher and higher numbers every year it never ends. I’m sorry to hear about your truck and hope that the gremlins can get worked out, nobody wants a brand new truck with problems that’s why we buy new. I hope you’re at least able to get a rental, my dealership had no rentals left and GM was no help about getting a rental when I had to get a faulty throttle body replaced at 32k miles.
I would say that your comment is not educated. I work in sales. The 2.7 GM has been so far problem free and very reliable. What has Toyota proven yet ? Just because it is a Chevy and 4 cylinder, does not mean it is not reliable. GM built the 2.7 to diesel standards on the internals. It is really a solid motor and hits peak torque crazy low. 1500Rpms. The only thing I wish it had was dual port injection.
It’s one of the largest beds in the mid-size segment surprisingly and a lot of guys don’t mind the shorter beds, that’s why they buy crew cab, short box half tons. For me, I like to have at least a 6.5ft and preferably an 8ft, but everyone has their own preference. Thank you for watching!
