Exactly the same bike is mine... now 2000Km. I do love the DCT, EERA and the foot shifter too...makes riding so much more fun and the feeling is very similar to classic shifter ones... mostly people do complain about DCT but never had driven one. The only boring thing is the road you will choose. Everything else will make you smile on this bike. Slovenia, Italy, Austria are the right places for this bike. Everything south of Munich will be fine - believe me... congrats and enjoy some holidays more south with it!!!
I owned a CRF1100 ATAS DCT and my experience was that the speedometer was exaggerating a lot, more than other brands, 150km/u on the speedo was 135km/u in real on the navigation, about 10% speed less and that why it's looks fast but it isn't actually that fast. Seat was the worst of the 30 bikes I owned but the suspension was the best of the bikes I owned. I now have a '24 Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pro and it's a hoot on the speedbumps like the Africa Twin.
A BMW S1000XR makes 160hp and 114 Nm of torque, so the AT making 112 Nm with "just" 105hp tells you how the bike can feel much more powerful than it actually is (in line 4 vs parallel twin differences beside).
Thanks, nice review. My old dog AT dct 1000 year 2017 have served me well and still does. I think my next bike will be another AT dct, which one is not fully decided yet. Adventure Sport is very tempting.
I switched from a 2008 Honda Transalp to the 2024 Aftrica Twin Adventure Sports and ... so many women turning their head towards me. This bike is not only awesome to ride, but it's also a chick magnet :)
love this machine, don't care what folks thinking about clutch, give me 3-5 years and we will pay extra for manual....would get the machine if I am on market for new one cheers V!
Thanks man!
I really liked this video. Thinking an ATAS DCT will be great for distance, complementing my amazing KTM 1290 SAS for the big Dallas city. Glad there is a quick shifter add-on for DCT. I love me a quick shifter.
Apperently I am not the typical GS rider. 1300 that is. 34 years, I like to push the bike where it makes sense. Today I went over 4 mountain passes in the alps, from Italy to Germany and at one point both tyres started sliding a bit. A little faster right turn, but a decent camber to the left. And if you really open the throttle and let her rev up, she pulls hard. At the same time, when there is no twisty road, the bike is perfect to relax and prepare for the next twisty section. And there is a good chance that at one point I will get the Jekyll and Hyde exhaust. That thing sounds nasty. I actually think the new GS design and the way it rides is catching younger guys. As an excample, today I have seen two younger guys in full race leather on 1300s. But I might be wrong with my assumption.
Hi smokey, thanks for another beautiful video, couple of questions: -how heavy/top heavy does it feel? -with the DCT and electronic suspension what is the final weight? -does it still feel nimbo and agile?
Not top heavy at all in my opinion. Don't really know the final weight , must be on the Honda online configurator. It feels less agile as the 19inch front wheel. But I like that it's not so quick in reacting when you turn the handlebar 😁
DCT adventure sports here. Have owned a Break My Wallet, wont make that mistake again. Looked at the ktm but the camshafts made of cheese? No thanks. Tried the manual and the DCT, wont go back to the manual.
I am wondering wich bike you prefer, this Honda africa twin DCT or the Ducati multistrada... I want to buy one if these but i don t know..i love the Ducati kwality but also the comfort of the DCT.
Ducati = smile every day, go to bed with a super model who is …., can be pia being needy Honda = smile when you see the other guy dealing with the supermodel and you ride by, go to bed with loyal baby momma, is ok with staying in on a Saturday night to watch Tv. Honda = safety scissors Ducati = Running down stairs blind folded with knives in both hands.
@@misfitfarm1937hahahaha great analogy. I concur, the Ducati is a pretty and hot Italian woman to enjoy but she can leave you when you don’t expect. The Honda is a more normal looking girl that will stay at your side your entire life as long you take care of her.
At this point I'm going for the Honda. The Multistrada has more comfort tho but I feel young enough to have more emotion in the bike and that's what the Honda gives me. Suspension in soft is also really good and that DCT oh boy oh boy that is soooo relaxing to ride 😅
Hey Smokey, I’d love to see Benelli TRK702X review from you. I just bought that bike and I like it. I’m wondering what’s your opinion about this bike. Africa Twin or Multistrada is next on my bucket list. 😄
Hello Smokey, did I miss anything? Do you still have Sar? Thinking to buy one. But can't decide KTM 1290 Sar or Triumph Tiger 1200? What u suggest? My experience, 6 years hard enduro. Husqvarna te 300 and so on. Plan to do all TET
Tried many time contacting Yamaha , we called , I send e-mails , messages , used dealers....just the same as with Triumph but they are just ignoring me for some reason.....lol
why do you prefer the 21" to the 19" ? do you feel the 21" bike lighter than the adventure? I want to buy an AT and don't want to use it on dirt but for everyday use and don't know which one to choose , the 19" (which is more expensive and heavier) or the 21" with es :)
19inch also has much bigger gastank. The 19inch front wheel just handles faster so it throws itself easier into a corner. The smaller the front wheel the quicker it turns when you touch the handlebar. I like it to be a little more forgiving when I touch the handlebars that's all :-)
It is a good looking bike mate and that DCT tech is cool, but, is it something else that could go wrong?? Obviously you’ll be giving it a clean before you hand it back, any suggestions for a good quality nice smelling washing liquid with lots of bubbles??
My very own Smokey Bubbles coming soon 😁. And the DCT from Honda has been going on for 10 years or so. I have never heard any issues with it. There will be some but if it's really bad I would have known 😁
Since when does a DCT have a shifter I can see there? DCT has no shifter. Now I know why as I looked later into the video...it's an option I did not know about :)
I have the previous AT and definitely notice the lack of power compared to my RC8R which has a tested 156hp at the rear wheel. But then the Honda weighs a LOT more and is less aerodynamic than the KTM. The difference is mainly felt on the motorway, where the 1195cc LC8 motor can go uphill on a steady throttle at low revs, whereas the Honda must be kept in the upper midrange to stay at a constant speed.
@@mrgreg6177 It think Honda are measuring rear wheel power figures these days. That said, manufacturer claims tend to be a bit "optimistic". I own the previous Adventure sport model and one of the things I would ask for is more power and torque for the motorway stints. Oh and the front brake master... Cheap rubbish.
@@pauln6803 I agree with the second part but no. Honda claims crank hp. The greatest example is the new transalp 750 which is claimed at 92hp and barely makes 80hp on the dyno.
