This is a Motormouth couple car review of the 2024 Honda CR-V compact crossover SUV. One of our biggest complaints about the Honda CR-V is the price and the lack of a lower priced hybrid option in Canada. For 2024, Honda has added more hybrid options for the Honda CR-V, there are two hybrid models for Canada and three for the US. Although, the pricing for the base Canadian hybrid model is still very expensive. Pricing has increase across all models for 2024.
The 2024 Honda CR-V has two powertrain options, a 1.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder matched to a CVT, 190 horsepower and 179 lb-ft of torque. FWD and AWD options are available.
There is also the Honda CR-V hybrid matched to an ECVT with a combined 204 horsepower, standard AWD in Canada, FWD and AWD options are available in the US.
Standard 2024 Honda CR-V features include, a 7” digital driver display, a 7” touchscreen, available 9”, wired Apple Carplay and Android Auto, available wireless, heated front seats, a manual driver and passenger seat, available powered, cloth upholstery, available leather, dual zone automatic climate control and Honda Sensing Driver Assist Technology which does not include blind spot monitoring and rear-cross traffic alert, that is standard one up from the base model. In the US, heated front seats and dual zone automatic climate control are not standard.
Unfortunately, the 2024 Honda CR-V is missing some features other competitors have like ventilated front seats, a panoramic sunroof and a 360 camera. In the US, heated rear seats are not available but in Canada they are standard on the EX-L gas and hybrid models.
Here is the 2024 Honda CR-V pricing. In Canada, LX-B FWD $37,250, LX-B AWD $40,050, Sport $44,200, EX-L $46,400, EX-L Hybrid $48,400, Touring Hybrid $51,900.
In the US, the 2024 Honda CR-V LX FWD $29,500, AWD $31,000, EX FWD $32,010 USD, EX $33,510, EX-L FWD $34,660, AWD $36,160, Sport Hybrid FWD $33,350, AWD $34,850, Sport-L Hybrid $36,350, Sport Touring Hybrid $39,500.
Honda CR-V fuel economy, the gas model gets 9.1L/100 km, 27 MPG city and 7.6L/100 km, 32 MPG highway. The Hybrid 6L/100 km, 40 MPG city and 6.9L/100 km highway, 34 MPG highway.
The Honda CR-V gas model can tow 1,500 pounds and the hybrid 1,000 pounds.

I bought the 2024 Sport Touring Hybrid. I agree that it should have come with ventilated seats and 360 degree camera, but lack of those items simply wasn't enough of a deal killer. I did tons of research (including test drives) and nothing comes close to the overall driving experience of the CRV Hybrid. It's very comfortable, refined (but not fussy), and drives and handles impeccably smooth. Plus you get Honda reliability, great gas mileage without having to plug it in, and solid resale value.

No. I scratched the Venza from the early list of contenders because I personally find it visually unappealing. While I’m generally all about practicality, aesthetics do factor in.

I totally agree, it’s so frustrating to see that even fully loaded CRV doesn’t get ventilated seats, pano roof, 360 camera, HUD, 4-door sensors, and yet they give most of these features to the less popular Accord and bigger Pilot.😢 for me, CRV is the right size, I don’t need the size of Pilot, and I don’t want a subcompact SUV like HRV, but I also want all the features, so I have no choice but to give up on CRV.

I have driven EX-L 2023 version and it was really good in terms of comfort, space and power but price and dealer were so bad that we passed. One more issue with it is the lack of features - all other competitors is the same price range offers more - like panoramic sunroof and ventilated front seats.

I've watched all your videos for years and i was against this vehicle when comparing to Toyota and thought RAV4 would be my Venza replacement... However a 2024 CRV hybrid touring sits in my driveway... It was modern and not dated and i couldn't wait anymore... It is very polished almost European in it's driving very smooth similar to wife's Tiguan in some ways it gets 37 mpg in mixed driving it's got almost all features i wanted save a few.... I've had it only 2 months but it's a great car... Yes it was a bit more cash with some missing features but i also had 3 of the same color and level of trim on the lot... No months of (or years) of waiting. Really happy so far.

I looked on their website when the new Civic generation and this CR-V came out, and I was blown away by how much the increased pricing across the board. Just 5 years ago the base model started around $27-28k... now it's $10k more. That's insane. I will NEVER give my business to a company that takes advantage of consumers, and I strongly believe Honda is doing that right now.

Andrea, I’m with Zack on the seat ventilation and sunroof. We both love the simplicity of the dash/controls. The competitor (Toyota only imo) and other mfg’s vehicles just have too much crap and clutter. We bought a 2024 CR-V, EX-L Hybrid because it is simple, clean and minimalist. We have only owned Honda, Toyota and Nissan over the past 13 years (took me way to long to change from patriotic domestics. Both Honda’s and the Toyota were impeccably reliable and cheap to maintain. Been watching you 2 since way back in the Driving TV days. Outstanding work both of you.

Honda said it was stone chips on the face of my hatch (3 of them), I typically don't drive down the road in reverse. I don't drive on gravel roads. The CRV numbers in the US aren’t real though. I tested the EX last month, and was given an OTD price of $41,500 AFTER trade (of a ‘13 Crosstrek). That’s a full $7k over MSRP. I ended up buying a ‘23 Forester premium. Our other car is a ‘17 CRV, which we LOVE, but there’s no way I was paying Honda’s insane premiums to stick with the brand.

Price Increases Across The Board For All Models! Whatta Surprise! I would Opt for a leftover 2023 CRV Hybrid Sport. That would be the natutal replacement for our 2016 CRV Touring AWD with 45K miles. With a $38K Price tag, a trade in value estimated at circa $19,000 for our 2016, no car loan, the decision focuses on the economic Sense. Notwithstanding the major improvements in looks, size, HP, MPGs, and interior design enhancements, there are some features that are lacking (Ventilated Seats, Power Steering Wheel adjustments, etc.) - and with the tripling of car loan interest rates (I'll Hold My Tongue for the clear reasons as to Why - do the initials JB ring a bell?) ... I may have just answered my own question ! Great Video Guys, very informative.

I bought a 2024 CRV hybrid EXL. With the sky high fuel prices in Vancouver and a daily running of around 60kms, it did not make sense to buy a gas car. The wait time for a Sportage hybrid was 2 years while Honda delivered my car in just 15 days! Kias and Hyundais also have a very soft rear suspension, which result in a bouncy ride over uneven roads. I have owned Hyundais in the past and this has caused motion sickness to occupants in the rear.

When I went to buy a car, I found that the EX-L was too expensive, and the interior and exterior looked very low-end and ugly. So I decided to give up and choose the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid. 😂😂😂

This makes sense as a hybrid model with great, really great mpg . Non hybrid models are totally uninspiring and are here just until they are sold and phased out by hybrid only engines. In U.S. the fully loaded CR-V tops out at 42K U.S. dollars, before TTL and fees. That is already 60K cash Canadian before interest to the banks! About 80% of U.S. and Canadian buyers are already priced out of new cars and that number is growing daily.

Wish it had ventilated seats, heated steering wheel, and a 360* camera. As it is, we are pretty happy with it overall. We also looked at the competitors. We found that there was something lacking in every car, no Cinderella. Just recently, a dealer told me very directly and simply the rational behind Honda's substantial price increase and lack of content in the lower trims vs it's prince. Simply, Honda has products to sell. They are available. They have stock to buy from the Ontario-manufactured CRV and Civic models as compared to much of the competition. And of course, prices and content reflect that.

The sportage seems great but since there is a shortage of the hybrids they were asking within $1000 of of what I paid for the Honda. I thought the honda drove better and its engine design would stand up better than the Kia. The Rav I really disliked. Passenger seat was too high for me until you get into the limited model with power passenger seat. I found the Rav not as nice the drive and the interior not as nice. The venza is closer to the CRV interior but not as much room. Was not going to get any hybrid from toyota for months. I have an UPDATE for you guys! I own a 2024 CRV Hybrid Touring. Use it as a full time Uber/Lyft vehicle. Love the comfort of it a lot. It is an absolute nightmare when you get a flat tire!!! In Canada there is no tire pressure monitoring system on these vehicles!! No spare tire!! So when you get a flat, you don’t even know you have it. You can’t feel it. You are riding on a flat tire DESTROYING it, until someone honks at you to tell you that you have a flat tire! On a top of the line 2024 CRV. I’m flabbergasted. Ask me how much it costs to have one tire replaced? $472.00 installed and balanced. Had to go through it 3 times. If it had a tire pressure monitoring system I’d know to stop driving when air pressure decreases and fix it before the rim chews up the flat tire. Every flat could have been fixed for under $50 if it had what my 2019 Corolla Hatchback and MANY other much cheaper vehicles have: SAFETY! Tire pressure monitoring system. Was obligated to end an active Uber ride twice due to a flat on the side of the hwy. these repairs add up quickly into over $1,000 for a tow and new tire replacement. Shame on Honda for removing this important feature on their 2023/2024 models. The previous vehicles had it. The fool responsible for making this decision at Honda should be tortured. Honda needs to be flamed for this. At the cost of this vehicle this is extremely unacceptable! And you the reviewers need to raise RED FLAGS to the consumers so we know about this!!! I wouldn’t have purchased it had I known. Truly. I love it; but this is not OK. Far from. SHAME ON HONDA!!

I'll never buy a Hyundai/KIA the way they treated USA buyers over the KIA Boyz USB hack. This doesn't have as much interior bling and features, but it'll last way longer than the Korean cars and much better resale value (Bank of Honda and Toyota pays dividends).

Bought our 2017 CRV Touring for just under $39K, which came standard in Canada with a pano moonroof, quad heated seats, heated steering wheel, power front seats, power kick to open lift gate and all the safety tech. Also we were able to order a beige leather interior, which you can’t get anymore. Black sucks! So after almost 110k trouble free miles and a consistent 6.4L/100K on the highway, why would I buy a new one? Honda keeps taking stuff away and the new prices are obscene!

I agree with Zack's description of the Swiss Army Knife. I could find nothing particularly wrong with this, but there was just no excitement and I was in a place that I needed something exciting. To "alright' for the price. I drove all of the various models, liked them all and could not get over the finish line. I don't think you will be sorry if you buy this, and I don't think you will be sorry if you choose something else ;)

In the U.S.A. I've got a quote for $45,000 on a 2024 CRV Hybrid Sport AWD (not even a leather trim). I ended up getting a 2023 Hyundai Elantra Hybrid for my wife under $30,000 out the door with bumper to bumper platinum warranty of 100,000 miles. I was pleasantly surprised of all the options the Elantra has that most other cars don't even offer at $40,000 or more. I didn't even think that wireless Apple/android was available until I set up my phone.

It is a fact and not exaggeration. Do your homework before you speak.

Huge fan of yours. Wanted to comment because this is not the first time you’ve discussed Honda pricing in Canada. Have you looked at the currency rate conversion? I agree that Hondas have become significantly more expensive but looking at the CAD vs USD the top trim Canadian Hybrid is technically $2000 USD cheaper when comparing both on the US dollar. Same goes for the base trim. So from an absolute value perspective, you guys get the cheaper car. Not to mention the added features you guys get that are not available in the US…

Interior wood trims. Rear with additional lighting, ambient lighting everywhere on the floor; JUST SO MUCH more why ?

Nice review as always Why do you always fail consider the Outback when talking about CUV??? I drive a 22 Outback & of course compare everything with the OB. Lots of CRVs on the lots here in the Seattle area with no dealer markups. I recently drove a CRV 23 Hybrid, very spacious and smooth. CRV back seat and cargo area seems cavernous in comparison to OB but so much of it is vertical. The fact that seat doesn't fold flat is a bummer. I much prefer the cargo area layout of the of the Outback over CRV, RAV4, & Korean twins -- more length, less vertical space but who wants to stack all their stuff? I have also driven Hyundai Tucson several times as Turo rental -- very nice car indeed! The Koreans & CRV seem like great cars overall, especially the hybrid versions and their great mpg -- very tempting! While I love the more car / wagon like form factor of Subaru, sadly their engine options are about 10 yrs behind other CUVs. While they manage reasonable highway mpg (29-33) the city mileage really sucks at about 24-27. If Subaru could come up with a good hybrid, it would definitely be the top of the heap, but its current engines compromise it.

Recently I bought 2024 Honda CRV Hybrid sport. I do not know what is ventilated seated & I did not have panoramic camera with my previous 2019 Honda CRV so I do not miss them. 2024 Honda CRV has more features than what I would use. But what I miss is fog lights. I was more concerned about the color of the car I forgot to ask it came with fog lights but I found out later Honda CRV has discontinued fog lights. I test drove Toyota RAV & it’s not as quite as Honda CRV & I feel more comfortable driving Honda CRV. I really like 2024 Honda CRV sport. I don’t know why it does not come with spare tire.. I never had to use one before so I have to keep my fingers crossed 🤞. The price of the car in US seems cheaper than Canada but these days any Honda car on the lot has $3,500-4,000 added to the price of the car. There are shortages of Honda cars. 2024 Honda hybrid sport is $42,000.

They've stretched the car and the price. We've seen the same exercise by Mercedes with the GLB, similar size and similar price. I believe the strategy might be making these Compact SUVs look alike the upper SUV category and grab some buyers there, as well as people looking to improve from the usual small Compact SUV category (as if these were the same as the upper segment). And actually I can expect a few GLC potential buyers, settled for a GLB instead, but to be honest, I don't expect many preferring the CR-V to a GLB. The little star in the front makes a big difference in people's minds. 😊

They are proven for sure, but everyone is getting better and people are starting to compare specially in this inflationary times. With the Touring Hybrid at 52k vs Tesla Model Y RWD StandardbRange at 55k after 5k fed rebate, hard to beat the Tesla in my opinion. Toyota Hybrid or even the loaded Tucson PHEV can be have much cheaper after rebates. Keep up the great and honest reviews!

is a feature like ventilated front seats really a deal breaker for anyone? especially in Canada? 360 cameras? I would think reliability is a much more important value to a consumer. cross shopping it with other models that don't have a good reputation for reliability doesn't seem like it's as important to me. chevy trax and Hyundai/kia models could save you a few thousand dollars now, but cost you a whole new car in just a year or two when they break.

Well features do matter to people, consumers are cross-shopping other brands and they are looking for value. Here is a private message I just received on Instagram and I thought I would share it, I get these messages all the time. "Love your channel. Just watched your review on the 2024 CRV. So disappointed in Honda. We’ve owned 4 and that’s where it stopped. Firstly, pricing is outrageous, secondly they are so slow to bring features to market. 7” and 9” screens what a joke. Finally, I have found Honda reliability drop each time we got a new vehicle and the cost of regular maintenance and repairs has gone through the roof too. I certainly, can’t support them anymore. Too bad but after all it What’s in it for me. Wanted another minivan but at $63,000 + who are they kidding. Put an order in for a Kia Carnival. $10,000 less and with way more features."
