Great, detailed review, thanks. I went over to my local Kia dealer to look at the Sportage. I can't get enough of the front end design or the dash--love this vehicle. Told the salesperson I wanted the lowest version of the Hybrid with power tailgate and ventilated seats. It was $40K for this compact SUV. So I decided to flush the cooling system, change the oil and put four new tires on my 2014 Forester Premium and drive it another year or two.
Been looking at the late model Sportage and I encourage anyone with a fear of engine reliability issues to look into the newer "smartstream" series of engine Hyundai/Kia is using now. It's new tech and hasn't been time tested but there are some promising things included in the design now. MPI instead of GDI, some fancy valve duration and timing and hugely decreased friction overall. Granted it's all fairly new and nobody that I have seen has done a real breakdown on them. I don't fear the engine anymore, if it's built right. But that part, I still fear.
Thanks for that info. We have a 2014 Sonata and we are very concerned about the dreaded engine failure. We like Hyundai/Kia products and would like to buy a new Sportage but we cannot go through another potential engine failure situation especially since Hyundai are now declining more and more claims.
Sometimes we have to accept changes before knocking down a product. Most of my colleagues going for or already have the sportage and is loving it. Sometimes we've to embrace change.
Went to a Kia dealership and the finance guy tried to sell me on an extended warranty. Started droning on about the LCD screen cost, and repair if it were to mess up. How the parts take months to get there, essentially he brought up a lot of points trying to sell me the warranty but actually indirectly talked me out of getting the car itself lol. I got up and walked out lol, I didn’t think about all that before. Said the LCD cost 16k and takes up to 3 months to get the replacements.
@@kylerider7125 I ended up getting a Hyundai Tucson, I love it I would highly recommend. Also go to a dealership in an affluent area, they won’t try to scam you since everyone around has money and it’s not worth their reputation.
Always check consumer reports before buying. Then the people can't play games. That finance manager talked you out a good car and great warranty from Kia.
When i tell yall i saw these everywhere when they went on sell i mean these are kind of becoming the rav4’s of kias and u can see why. U get a lot for the price, even some features that u wouldn’t expect for this segment. Its also pretty unique looking like any other new kia. Though its nice, i myself would get a 2024 rav4 xse hybrid or Limited. I perfer the look of the rav4 more but this is quite nice for the money.
10:22 you haven't used the car yet, but all the dirty fingerprints are already there. Thanks to manufacturers for this ultrastupid glossy-scratch-prone-dirt-magnet-plastics-all-over-the-car trend.
What about reliability and quality issues over time as so many RU-vid reviewers say how Hyundai kia is better than Honda products and Toyota??? Did Honda fall or just everyone got good enough and Honda dealership service is down??? As a long time Honda products buyer I don't see the problem
Purchased our '23 Sportage EX in March, LOVE IT!!! Only negative I can find for the money is LED lighting for entire vehicle. KIA cheapened out in that regard. Owners can upgrade their own with LED aftermarket bulbs but wished they were shipped with that type of lighting.
I just bought a 2024 Sportage X-line Limited, supposedly the top-of-the-line in Canada. Disappointed by the absence of two things (1) Folding side mirrors and (2) Smart Parking Assist. With the amount I paid for the vehicle, I believe nothing should be missing. Otherwise I’m very happy with the vehicle. 😅😮
😊in uk u dont get a gear shifter but a a turning wheel to choose driver and reverse and nutrel which more premium than this seems britan is getting better cars
The hybrids and plug in hybrids in North America have the rotary shifter too. It’s just the gas only models that have the traditional one here. Your Sportage is smaller than the North American one too.
We just pulled the trigger on a 2024 Sportage X Pro Prestige. I'm blown away with the features! We test drove every vehicle in the class and this X Pro Prestige took the prize for features. Loved the Subaru Outback, but the bolstering was awkward. The Kia is a lot more comfortable.
That's the best powertrain to pick considering I almost broke my neck looking at the gas prices in Chicago recently. That city got Cali fuel where unleaded gas is almost the same price as diesel.
@@DeadofWinter321 I was considering this beautiful kia sportage, Its good looking and the tech included is remarkable, unfortunately kia and hyundai have tons of well-known engine issues and with dealerships not honoring the warranty. Its still too soon to know is this kia model wont have serious issues. Also I'd use a car for 12+ years thats why ill go for a more durable and reliable brand.
@@armandolo17 I've had 2 Toyotas (a 2005 Camry and a 2016 Corolla) and they always had problems. The Corolla's transmission completely failed at 78K miles. Toyota said they consider it normal wear and tear when my extended bumper to bumper warranty was supposed to cover a full on replacement. I had to sue to get my money back after paying for a junkyard transmission (which slipped every now and then). Now I have a Kia (my first one and it's a year older than the Corolla) and I haven't had any issues at all. I love the car, fun to drive. Interior trim pieces are more solid and much less panel gaps than the Corolla.
I absolutely HATE!! The cargo room in the Sportage. My sister was moving and she had a few more items that didn’t fit on the moving truck. And unfortunately they had to have the truck back before the rental place closed. She calls me… Hey bro, how’s that new Sportage? Do you think a full size bed will fit? Me: NO!! This is a small SUV. It will never fit. And I don’t have a roof rack. My sister: Can we please try!!? Bottom line… the full size mattress and box spring got in there along with a nightstand, 50 inch tv, the dog, 2 gold fish, and some how, her husband. I should have purchased a Mazda Miata. OH!!! And we went back to go get her grill that was left on the balcony.
@@armandolo17 I forgot to mention that the full size was rectangle. So if you are in the market for a bed, just know you can get at least a full in the Sportage. Holly and Molly will be in disbelief when they see you load up that thing.
Why the 2024 higher trims wont come with Wireless Carplay is mind-boggling to say the least. With such minor improvements, you might as well opt for the 2023 model
There’s quite the difference between a premium and luxury product. The Kia Sportage remains within the affordable to higher end price range, but does not include features like power folding mirrors, as that is reserved for top of the line models such as the Telluride.
Too bad they aren't available in many areas. Per the Kia USA website, there are currently 76 Sportage models available or being shipped to the local Houston area, many are base trim models and only four hybrids. For a city of 7,000,000??? Guess they still have production issues at the factory.
Kia should have put the projector headlights on all the models last year. The regular LED headlights were rated poor, and the rating was accurate. Love my Canadian hybrid EX model otherwise (which includes adaptive cruise).
Hey Guys, I've just found you. Finally car reviews where the reviewers aren't trying to be comedians and entertainers but just straight facts. I have never seen another review where they used a decibel monitor, a very good point. My only negative would be I would like to know what you DIDN"T like about any test vehicle as everything appeared to be positive according to you but there has to be something that you weren't crazy about but overall a great job so thank you.
bought a 2024 EX Sportage this weekend. just FWD model. Is ok but need to get used to it. My last car was V6 Acura RDX. The acceleration much slower but my Acura was 10 yrs old. I like all the features in this Kia Ex. The tech is way nicer than my old Acura, but the driving performance is not nearly as good as Acura. But Im poor so thats why I settled for this Kia!
Kia and all other manufacturers are intentionally giving you more power on the hybrid and plug in hybrid models to push their electricification initiatives. It's becoming very obvious that stand alone ICE engines are a think of the past.
I really appreciate how detailed these reviews get Covers literally everything that I care about and makes it so I can really decide what I’d want to actually go to a dealer to see for myself But here I’m not rushed. Love it
These reviewers are too young to understand that when Hyundai first came into this country, they were extremely poorly made vehicles, and although they’ve gotten better, it’s certainly not to the reliability of Toyota so no thank you.
Oh wow so great 👍 and very beautiful 😻❤️ and the engine 🚂🚒 very strong and powerful for the off 🛣️ road 💪🛣️ or high way and very good design with the new 🆕 technology for the new 🆕 generation hument and very easy to drive and comfortable.
It is a nice car esthetically, exterior only! It's way too slow during the Smile Meter test! It is not worth the money for that kind of engine performance. Also, I don't like the front vents. The two large weird, shape vents that are far apart and then the tiny vent to the passenger are just out of symmetry. Also, how does the climate control work with gloves? Kia needs to use real buttons and dials...like Honda.
Space representation in the backseat is kinda cheapshot, you should roll the chair all the way back and then show the space. Not roll the front chair backwards when showing space in the front and then roll it forwards when you show space in the back.... I have very long legs and this scenario gives me an unfair view of what is actually going on in this vehicle.
What is going on with the 2024 Kia Sportage? I was planning on buying one but I only see 2 colors available, black and blue. It’s not even possible to pay for another color on Kia Sportage Prestige 2024.
Hyundai motor group does have an updated infotainment coming in their new vehicles that has wireless CarPlay. The new Kona and SantaFe both have the updated infotainment. I expect their other models to also receive it once refreshed mid cycle.
It’s obvious it’s not real wood can reviewers stop calling it Fo pho how ever you spell it. It’s not a Bentley or a Rolls it’s not going to be real on any other vehicles
@@youtubecarspottersguide1 I'm 6'-2", so seeing the 74" on the tape measure was perfect. I now know that I can lay down flat without any contortions, if I had to.
@@Josh-yr7gd cool im 5'9" that's how I judge a suv wagon or pu box im after adventure rig when hte weather is nice camp in hte back since covid no hotels or planes
Great review but not a fan of this model. If I purchase any Kia product, it would be the telluride. I don't like the lights on this model and the reverse lights should be illegal because you cannot see that one little light at all, ridiculous! Great job ❤ , any idea when the new Tahoe will be revealed?
What country is this? In Europe the design is different, chassis is different, engine is different, options and features is different, it's also shorter.so a totally different car
No changes to feature availability other than removal of the heated steering wheel option from the EX and the heated windshield from the AWD SX-Prestige.
LOL 😂 every time car reviews call these large, heavy crossovers "compact". A 1976 Chevy Chevette is compact. These four thousand pound crossovers are big and spacious, not "compact" at all.
That was from a trailer hitch connector which was forming condensation and shorting out. Recall has been out for a while and it only affects vehicles with the trailer hitch.
I'm telling you, there's always something with this brand. Not having wireless Carplay is a pretty big deal. Kia wants to give me one of these things because the last one I bought was such a bust. I'm trying to determine if I want to trust this brand again since I got burned so badly. I have a 2019 Sportage and this year I had to get an engine replaced that took over 3 months to repair, and then one month later someone broke into it and attempted to steal it, which took a month to repair. Some insurance companies won't even insure the Kia's Sportage anymore or they're charging high rates because of all the horrible malfunctions. Can't really trust this brand after being down a car almost half a year. Buyers beware.
Sounds like you got a lemon. The break ins aren’t a problem in neighborhoods with a low percentage of basketball players. The luck is in your favor now otherwise. It’s rare to get two lemons in a row!
Do your research. Only key ignition vehicles were impacted, all of which were eligible to receive the Kia/Hyundai Anti-Theft Logic software update which implements a key ID system, and won’t start unless the exact one is used. Push to start models weren’t effected at all. From 2021, Hyundai has immobilizers on all vehicles in every single lineup. Since 2022, the same goes for Kia. If there’s obviously an issue, don’t you think they would have fixed it? Funny how the issue is making you so apprehensive, when so many are buying cars from both brands.
A bit surprised at your comment. In this price range . Nothing looks better . I actually think it look really good . Better then the much higher end priced phenomenon with in its class . And yes looks better to me then then audi phev at almost 2x the price.
