Interested to hear your opinion on the frame in the gnarly trails. Alot of folks complaining about to frame being too stiff, the tiny stator on tje XC scared me off with others having their bikes die under repeated starts when running a fan. Youre coming off my current bike (18xcw) so staying tuned for your opinions.

Don’t worry about pulling the yellow knob back out on cold starts, just turn the throttle the other way and it knocks it off. Great video, just got my 2024 300 six days at the weekend!

I just bought the hard enduro model. And To be honest it seems to be the best bike I have ever riden before. I owned a 21' Sherco, 22' Beta Racing, a 23' Rieju and now the KTM. So it's my first injection enduro bike and love it. I have only 1 hour and a half on it but noticed a very easy bike to ride. Everything is easier. Like a cheat code. ^^

Congrats on the new bike! I have a brand new 2023 Beta 300RR and love it. I couldn’t buy a new KTM as I would never be able to live with the razzing from my all my KTM friends. I also wasn’t a fan of TPI. There is something about the power delivery of a carbed bike and tunability that I really like. First thing I tossed was the stock Maxxis tires like the ones on your bike. It’s like they’re made from plastic. Front started chunking right away. Looking forward to your riding impressions. Cheers from North Eastern Ontario Canada!

Agree. KTM has become a profit business, and quality seems below the standards of the past. I was a fan of `KTM but have switched to the BETA 300RR as well. It’s perfect, great quality for the price and most of all has Carb and Kick start

Some of the mainstream RU-vid channels, like Dirt Bike Channel, states the 300 XCW bike has no balls. Slavens loves it and says it's got plenty of power. I'll be interested to see what you have to say after a few rides. I rode one and a TPI with Two Stroke Performance (TSP) tune was a better running bike, IMO.
@sfade6217
@sfade6217 Год назад
Dirtbike channel I think said it was weak bc he was in soft map which he thought was the hot map. Softer map is stock on this bike. I think he thought it was like prev yrs most bikes came set on hot map. Then again many argue there is little diff to maps...historically
@TokyoOffroad
@TokyoOffroad Год назад
@sfade6217- That's right, the stock map on the EXC & XC-W models is the softer map. In the operator's manual it's called the "Standard" map. The hot map is called the "Advanced" map and requires the map switch to access it.
@onthethrottle7104
@onthethrottle7104 Год назад
@@sfade6217No, that's not the case, he checked it and it was in the hotter map...which most riders have said one map to another is unnoticeable on this particular bike. Morgan from Highland Cycles put a map switch from his 2023 XC on the new XCW and when switching between the two maps, he could not tell the difference. He went on to warn others not to waste their money buying a map switch.

Especially with an enduro bike (not SX) you really need high performance and that it has "balls". I have a TPI, for my hobby of "hard" enduro riding, I smoothed the engine and expression "S3 enduro head, green power valve spring" and the bike is really a lamb but it has just enough power 🙂

Is there a concern with the fuel pump pick up placement where not all fuel is used in the tank. I’m seeing a number of comments on other channels saying this is an issue on flat track riding. Cheers
@TokyoOffroad
@TokyoOffroad 9 месяцев назад
My experience has been: Off-road riding on rough ground, where the bike moves around a lot, no problem, can use pretty much all the fuel in the tank; On-road riding on smooth & flat surfaces, quite a bit of full is left on each side of the tank and can't be picked up by the fuel pump (can stop and lean the bike over to get some fuel into the central pickup cup). As I ride mostly off-road it's not a big issue for me.

For me, the biggest question I have is about the starter bushings. I have a 23 TX 300 and plan to purchase a 24 TE 300. I'm interested to know if Austria changed the bushings or we still need to replace them sooner than later?
@TokyoOffroad
@TokyoOffroad Год назад
The bendix bushings used in the 2024 TBI model are the same as the 2020~23 TPI models (part number 55540031000). My recommendation is to check and replace periodically if you want to use the KTM bushes, or replace with XRC bronze bushings (I sell them on the Tokyo Offroad webshop here: www.tokyooffroad.com/product/xrc-starter-bush-kit-250-300-2t-tpi-2020/). I'll make a video about this when I replace the bendix bushings in my 2024 TBI.

Where did you find those optional frame/engine mounts? I think I would like some of the "not so stiff" ones.
@TokyoOffroad
@TokyoOffroad Год назад
It looks like two PowerParts versions of the engine brace are available. The stiff version, with no holes in the brace is part number A42003912044C1 (L & R pair). The less stiff version with holes in the brace is part number A42003012044C1 (L & R pair). I think the less stiff version is what's used stock on the EXC/XC-W models (A42003013000 Left brace, A42003014000 Right), so unfortunately I don't think a less stiff version than this is currently available.

I'm using the Two Stroke Performance ERM tool which s able to read and reset ECU fault code and display various data. It a really handy tool. The main purpose of it is to allow you to reflash the map, with capability to adjust fueling, ignition and PV.

Can bikes like this be registered to be street legal in Japan?
@TokyoOffroad
@TokyoOffroad 11 месяцев назад
2-stroke bikes up to 250cc are easy to register for road use in Japan and there is no physical check of the bike, or subsequent safety checks. If you're located in Japan and would like to chat about registration details feel free to contact me here: www.tokyooffroad.com/contact/

Hi, I'm just wondering is TBI still using OI system no need to premix the oil? or its just exc have OI system and xc is premix? thanks.
@TokyoOffroad
@TokyoOffroad Год назад
The 2024 TBI 250/300 EXC and XC-W use an oil injection system. The 2023/24 250/300 TBI XC does not have oil injection and requires premix. If you want an 2024 EXC, or XC-W model, but prefer to use pre-mix you could easily delete the oil injection system by using a dongle (resistor) which plugs into the oil pump plug to simulate the pump being connected so an engine fault code is not thrown.

Things I feel are wrong, 1. plastic rebound adjusters. Is guarantee to break 2. Seat bolt in fuel tank. Can easily strip 3. Fuel pump location, Already heard stories of people running out of gas with plenty of fuel in the tank 4 Very bulky cruddy kill switch. 5. Bulky white switch takes up room. 6. I believe it lacks a fly wheel weight 7. Cost about $5000 more than a gas gas EC 300, And the gas gas comes with everything that you're going to purchase. 8. poor fuel economy compared to tpi. 9. I see nothing that makes this Tbi better than a gas gas TPI. I believe ktm went backwards. I call it as I see it.
@TokyoOffroad
@TokyoOffroad 11 месяцев назад
Here is my feedback based on my experience so far with my 2024 KTM 300 EXC TBI (just over 20H run time): 1. plastic rebound adjusters. Tokyo Offroad: The adjusters have been plastic for a long time. I haven't broken one before. 2. Seat bolt in fuel tank. Can easily strip Tokyo Offroad: . It's a concern as I pointed out in the video. I'm careful to line the seat up before inserting the seat bolt and fastening. No problem so far. It's actually less concern now, as it's easy to look down through the seat bolt hole and check alignment. 3. Fuel pump location, Already heard stories of people running out of gas with plenty of fuel in the tank Tokyo Offroad: If riding off-road on rough ground you can use all the fuel as it splashes around and up into the cup where the fuel is picked up. If riding on road you will run out with fuel still left in the tank. Not a great design for sure... 4 Very bulky cruddy kill switch. Tokyo Offroad: The EXC model (which I have) has a relatively small width combination kill/run/start switch. It takes up minimal space on the bars and has a very positive feel. I like it a lot. 5. Bulky white switch takes up room. Tokyo Offroad: I don't have a white switch anywhere. If you mean the light switch, I like the design on late model KTM EXC bikes a lot more that the old style switch (CEV) which is still fitted to Husky and GASGAS enduros. Regarding the size, the new style switch is way smaller and less bulky than the CEV switch, at 6mm narrower and 6mm less tall. 6. I believe it lacks a fly wheel weight Tokyo Offroad: The EXC and XC-W models have a heavier fly wheel weight than the XC model. The engine 300 EXC TBI lugs very well at low rpm and is very stall resistant. I have no desire to increase the flywheel weight. 7. Cost about $5000 more than a gas gas EC 300, And the gas gas comes with everything that you're going to purchase. Tokyo Offroad: Not sure where you are located. Here in Japan the cost difference between a 2024 KTM 300 EXC (US$9300) and a 2024 GASGAS EC300 (US$8833) is US$467 so not really a big consideration. 8. poor fuel economy compared to tpi. Tokyo Offroad: Yes, agreed. The TBI fuel economy is not good compared to TPI 9. I see nothing that makes this Tbi better than a gas gas TPI. I believe ktm went backwards. I call it as I see it. Tokyo Offroad: I owned a 2019 KTM 250 EXC TPI and a 2021 KTM 300 EXC TPI and didn't like the TPI bottom end, feeling much weaker than carb bikes. My 2024 KTM 300 TBI bottom end power is very good and I much prefer it to the TPI bikes I've had. Other thinks I like about my 2024 TBI: Suspension, without doubt the best stock suspension I've ever had. I've been riding it stock and it feels good for the riding I do. TBI is easy to convert to run premix. Although I never had an oil pump fail, it is a concern and would result in an expensive repair bill if it fails while riding. I prefer to use premix.

That's one bike I would not want, Set up to break, I have a 23 gas gas and it's built a lot better than that.
@TokyoOffroad
@TokyoOffroad 11 месяцев назад
I haven't found any problems with the build quality on my bike so far. I have 20H hours on it now. I deleted the oil injection system to simplify the bike and use premix now and is running well.
