I think the closed cartridge forks is definitely a step in the right direction. In the mtb world it is standard since many years and nobody misses the very maintenance intensive open hydraulics.

Hey Mark great video as always ,i have a 24 300 xc tbi and out of the box its a great bike ,with a few mods it will be perfect i still have my 18 and 19 tx 300 with a keihen carb ,stic module and jd jetting kit ( purchased from you thanks) in many ways overall both bikes do not feel that far behind the 24 300 xc tbi ,if you have a late generation carbed ktm 2 stroke i would keep it ( i am keeping mine )that said tbi is the future.

I sat on the 24 Husky and Ktm 300’s today and felt more comfortable on the Husky right away at 5’10 ish it fit just right. Thinking it might replace my Beta 200. Looking for reviews on the Husky but not many out there
@Jay_Wilson
@Jay_Wilson Год назад
I really liked my beta race Edition 300. Rode it for 200hrs of hard enduro. But I sold it this year after riding friends huskys in the Gnar and noticed they did much better in the nasty terrain. For fun I ride the where they host the Tennessee tko hard enduro course as it’s a nearby riding training area. The husky goes over the round slippery rocks with much more confidence. I’m 5’9” and I can reach the ground easier too. The husky 300 Climbs and descends the steep hills with more stability. I even revalved the beta suspension twice, kept the topend fresh and it was still not as confidence inspiring as my used 2017 husky 300cc with 400hrs of enduro. What a machine. I bet it was even better when it was new 😂

I just picked one up 9-12. Currently have a 21. Got it home to my 1 acre lot. I have a figure 8, a log. Played around and I will say. It’s an absolute dream. Seat design. Pegs to bars distances. Steering stem angle. Clutch pull is lighter than my EZ pull lever. There is absolutely zero lag for power due to an electric power valve. When you buy something new you hope it’s not only shiny, but better. I haven’t been single tracking yet. So my review is early. But I often use my yard to practice so it’s a safe review. This bike absolutely blows me away. I can’t believe how well it can turn. Felt much lighter too. Mapping switch is a huge change in power delivery with instantly noticing the arm stretching power. Motor isn’t broke in so I haven’t wound it out. But it felt MUCH more powerful. I race a lot and there is no one out there pulling a hole shot on me ever again😂 this thing rips with ease. I don’t have any comments on the suspension yet. Sort of…the rear, it drove out of corners well planted with no unpredictable stepping out. And I hadn’t done any adjusting. Just unload and ride. So we’ll see how I like it when I hit some trails. Sucks it’s not broke in because the Saturday that came we did a dual sport event having 50 on road/ 50 off-road miles. But couldn’t bring it since it had 12 minutes on it😂.

Not sure if it's different than the US bikes...the XC-W's, but they're coming in the "Advanced/Hot" map...even though the manual says differently. There's been a few guys over here that've tested it and have found that it's in the green map from the factory without the switch fitted.

The map setting is stored within the ECU so it remembers which map it was in even if the map switch is removed. I have checked 4 2024 300 EXCs so far and all came in the green map. Either borrow a map switch from a 2023/24 SX/XC bike or maybe check with the dealer - I'm pretty sure they can read/switch the map setting with their XC2 tool.

My 2017 300 EXC carb bike engine is far from stock (RK Tek head, VForce reed valve, Keihin 38 PWK Aristriker with STIC block, FMF Gnarly and Powercore 2 silencer, red power valve spring) and I love to ride it. The engine has great power and torque everywhere. The TBI bottom end feels similar to my carb bike and is much better than any TPI bike bottom end power that I've ridden. With the Standard map, the TBI mid and top, as discussed in the video feels quite flat and different from my carb bike. Very keen to try the Advanced map (higher power). Hopefully the map switch will arrive soon, or a method to switch without the map switch is discovered...

Great vid and good info! Did you have to lengthen the chain to install the 50T sprocket or is 116 links the OEM chain length?
@TokyoOffroad
@TokyoOffroad Год назад
The stock 2024 setup is 13/45 gearing with a 114 link chain. To run 13/50 gearing I'm using a 116 link chain which seems like the perfect length. The reason I decided to use a 50 rear sprocket, rather than using 12/45, is that all my other bikes/wheels are 50 sprockets and I like the convenience of being able to easily swap wheels between bikes...

Pleased to hear that you received the tool OK. Thanks for your business. I didn't ride is with the stock 14/45 gearing. it would've been way too tall for the slow, more technical riding I do. 13/50 works well, although I need some more time on the bike (riding again tomorrow). If you want to keep the stock 45 rear then I would suggest trying 12/45 gearing if riding slow, steep terrain.

I have 6 hours on my 24’ 300 XCW. The fueling is very rich. Unsure what map it’s in as standard but it feels like the power valve does not open all the way in the upper RPM’s, it’s very stifled. The engine needs to clear it’s throat anything above mid-range. Almost feels like I’m hitting a rev limiter at 7000 rpm. If my bike was delivered in the “hot map”, this thing has problems. Runs good at low RPM. Fuel mileage is not great, 40-45 miles and dead empty riding similar terrain as your video. I am running FMF Gnarly pipe and Turbine core 2.1 spark arrestor, east coast US.

Do we achieve the same outcome with a TPI and the injector relocation kit?
@TokyoOffroad
@TokyoOffroad 11 месяцев назад
Similar, but not the same. TPI with injector relocation is typically done by adding and plate between with the injectors positioned between the intake manifold and reed valve. TBI the injectors are mounted to the throttle body, so quite a bit upstream of the TPI relocation. Another TBI engine difference is that the power valve is now electronically controlled.
