I beg Mazda, when it comes time to either facelift refresh the Mazda 3/CX-30 or a completely new generation, please do not mess with the front fascia. It still looks so damn good and aggressive after this many years. Don't mess with what isn't broken. Don't give it a generic face like the CX-90/70. Don't dull the sharpness of the grill like they did with the most recent CX-5 refresh either...
The only thing they can but dont have to change it the taillights, its not bad but the rest of the car is perfect. But seeing new Mazda's I am sure they will do well, they keep doing their own thing unlike other brands.
@@FurkanSavasI agree, the tail lights are the only thing I'd like to see change. I love the semi circle ribbon of LEDs with it's 3d effect when you walk by and turn signal in the centre target but the surrounding tail light insert shape is a bit long or wide or something.
I like the rear even more than the front. Honestly the entire exterior aesthetic is nearly perfect which is probably why it hasn't aged at all. It still looks better than any other car out there. If they were to do a refresh I would hope its only subtle exterior tweaks that make it look more sleek. Interior could use color changing interior illumination on the next generation but all in all its just so damn nice.
BMW is mimicking them now. I saw an X7 recently with similar turn signals. Not sure which was more surprising - the "heartbeat" turn signals or the fact that a BMW driver actually used their turn signals.
Truly one of the great remaining ice cars. Thanks for doing a review of this one, i drive a 2022 premium plus awd (from new). I like the car, it's a comfortable & quiet cruiser. my closest friends and I are under 5'8 in height and we enjoy space and luxury this car offers us. G-Vectoring Control Plus is fantastic, it really helps make long trips less fatiguing as well as makes corners great fun. I'm so glad Mazda apply this much attention to detail these days. They deserve more credit than given, everything is just made with thought. Elbow comfort is what really swayed my decision after my test drive back then. Good review!
The Mazda 3 and CX-30 need hybrids so badly. 200 HP and 50 MPG is such a sweet spot. Don't get me wrong, I love the Turbo 3 but whenever I drive my brother's Turbo 3, I get 17 MPG on a good day lol
@@daigo12865 why pay nearly $40k for the turbo model just to lay off the gas lol that's why I want a hybrid. You can stomp the gas, get instant torque, and still get 40 MPG. All while paying less than $40k.
@@Unchainedmaple888 until you have to repair that hybrid. Or God forbid you buy one used with a messed up battery. Longevity wise, traditional ice is the way to go.
17MPG?? My Lexus ES350 F with a V6 gets 26 MPG and 22 when I drive it like crazy, and it’s a much heavier and bigger car. Mazda needs to refresh this Turbo 3, but not with a hybrid.
@@shadowios7033 you’re actually 100% correct. However, if others were like Mazda in that case, it’s segment will become more competitive to Mazda but I totally understand what you’re trying to say.
Recent owner of a 2024 Mazda3 with the 6MT. It's honda levels of good imo (without the honda tax). Get your hands on one when you can. Very nice experience.
it does especially with the bose speaker setup (and the manual transmission), although the color isn't as vibrant with the lack of light, but when the streetlights shine past you get the little flashes of the red. its such a good satisfying cruising car. I cant wait to get a slightly louder exhasut.
That Publix sold a million $ scratch off. I believe it was a $50 500X, the black/pink but that's no longer available. If I had around 30k, I'd buy a Mazda 3 sedan, Preferred in Platinum Quartz with greige interior. I'd add interior lighting, auto dimming mirror with home link, stainless steel rear bumper cover. $28,115.
Kirk, I'v had a 2010 and a 2014 Mazda 3, awesome cars love them and while talking about Mazda's . I'v also had a 2016, 2017 Mazda 6, a 2017 Miata and a 1997 and a 2000 B2200 pickup, now I have a 2000 Millenia S, Millennium Edition. Love your channel, from Florida.
Great review this is the perfect depiction of the Mazda3 right down the grown man car i seriously am thinking of getting another Mazda3 for my next new car.
Great review, but a few things: - The rotary dial works perfect in Android Auto, don't ever need the touch screen, it's too far anyway which was intended by Mazda since it's more distracting - Don't need a gazillion gear in a low rpm torque monster like this, feels more like an inline 6 or V6 then a V8, but so smooth and torquey, BTW a tune revives the high rpms. - Why need a panoramic sunroof, you wont even see it from the front seat and loosing rigidity and probably add weight. - You reviewers mostly get press cars, which have been abuse on the brakes, no problems on mine and feels pretty grabby.
You got me wanting a Mazda 3 with the tach acceleration! did enjoy that allot!. Also that light swiveling would have like to see bit more on your "night edition" videos
In addition to hybrids, we also need a Spirit Racing Mazda 3 and CX-30. Bigger/better brakes and better tires from the factory. After extensively driving the Turbo 3 hatch, one of its main deficiencies is that the brakes are weak for the power and weight of the car and the Turanza tires leave a lot to be desired in both grip and noise.
I agree with you on the tires being horrible. A premium set of tires works miracles for the car. I have Michelin PS AS4 and they are leagues better than the turanza
I will always miss my red hatch. I still don't think you can find better in the same price point for an ICE car. I do think the turbo is a bit pricey for what it is by around 2-3k. I still am a Mazda fanboi after owning 3 of them.
Really wanted to buy the 3 turbo when it first arrived but i test drove it several times at the dealership and it just wasn't no "hot hatch" category. I really love the exterior. When they gonna release more news on Spirit Racing sigh...
I still love my '21 Hatch Turbo, but do want something a little more engaging. Unfortunately, Mazda is chasing other markets and seemingly won't be building a new 6 with that inline6 engine. I'm also a sucker for hatchbacks, and have been thinking of going electric, so I'm actually considering Ioniq5 N (I had a '10 Speed3, return to my boy racer roots) or wait for the Magma. The minute Mazda does bring a new 6, I'll be interested.
I know I'm the odd case here, I don't understand how electric vehicles will work for someone who needs to visit 6 job sites in a day and then make it home while heating up the cabin from winter temperatures at each stop and limited charging infrastructure in place. Hopefully everyone else's driving habits are more suited to the limitations of a battery powered car but I don't think electric can quite match the versatility and convenience of the internal combustion engine for users like myself. But an inline 6 Mazda6 would be sweet.
@@Gritt982 I work from home 3 days a week, only commute 35 miles round trip twice a week, and then just do errands on weekends. We already have a Mach-E in our household and it's great. We charge that about once a week to 85%. We're in DFW so everything is close by, so an electric makes perfect sense for us.
@@Gritt982 That seems like a pretty uncommon job tbh. I don't mean this as a dig, but I doubt the makers of most vehicles, EV or not, are thinking about that use case.
You’re so right about the lack rear air vents would make it more premium, the back looks cheap without it or even a 12 volt. But this car is screaming out for a manual.
I'm still holding off buying one of these just in case Mazda gives us a 300hp mazda3 with a better rear suspension. In terms of interior features I want ventilated seats (also a bigger fuel tank).......or a Mazda6 with the inline 6........😢.
I don’t think it will happen. Mazda won’t put much money into this since they don’t sell as well as their crossovers/SUVs. Just get one of these while you can and throw on a piggyback tune.
@@venzoah Mazda announced a sub-brand Spirit Racing or something like that, like a year ago and it showed off a Mazda3 and a Miata with special liveries. A couple months ago someone spotted Mazda testing a Miata on the Nurburgring if I remember correctly.
if I would buy this Car, first I would put 19 inch wheels with 235/40 tires on it and I would do a stage 1 software tune to the engine up to 300 HP and a transmission tune for faster shifting.
How does the different octane compatibility work without it affecting the engine, like if you decide one day premium is too expensive and you add regular or vice-versa.
It does it with knock control, if low octane it sense knock and pull timing and boost. If high octane or colder air temp, less or no knock then it's all in.
Mazda 3 Hatch OR Honda Civic Hatch Hybrid? Honda wins on space and MPG, obviously, but it's built in Indiana? Does the Mazda 3's other attributes override the Civic's advantages?
I averaged 36.4mpg on my last tank ('22 turbo hatch), which was mostly a 260 mile round trip in the northeast US. Mostly highway, with some putzing around a New Hampshire city and then driving out to trailheads on some awesome back-roads through the mountains and lakes. And I wouldn't say I was exactly going under the speed limit. Driving only in stop-go conditions it's going to be bad, I get 21-24 around my city. But being stuck driving in a city is miserable already and not why I bought it. The bad city milage is just further incentive to get out to good roads
Depends on your commute, my commute is like 50% backroads 50% idling in the city and I'm getting 9.8-10.2L/100KM, or roughly 24MPG average, for me that is fine especially because even though this car is turbocharged you can throw 87 octane in it no problem. On drives where I only took the highway I got an impressive 7.0-8L/100KM or 29-33 MPG and I usually push it on the highways lol
I seriously do not know HOW on earth were you able to get into the car at 6’-1” tall!!!! I am 5’-10” tall myself weigh 173 lbs and I could BARELY get in the front seat with ease let alone the rear 😮😮😮😮 HOW? HOW Kris?!
This car is ridiculous. Outdated, too small, way overpriced, has a beam axel?? For 40K? Are you joking?? GTI, GLI, Elantra N Line, Kia K4..they all blow this car to hell.
@Gritt982 I guess, lol. CVT's are some of the worst transmissions out there. Plus the anemic 1.5t which has reliability issues. Mazda 3 looks good, and has a ton of potential.
Even if the civic was worse than a Mitsubishi mirage it would sell more. It's not a problem of demand, it's a supply/production difference. Honda has a significantly higher capacity for production than Mazda, and aside from the CTR all Honda's and Acura's are built here in the US. The Mazda3 shares production lines with hotter vehicles like the CX-30 in MX or their other SUVs in Japan. And has to be shipped. The good news is that they don't really care about selling more than others, they just care about selling enough to be profitable, which the 3 continues to do quite well.
@@bitbat9that's unfortunate. I acquired a Mazda3 AWD with a roof rack for my work gear and it has less cargo space than my Corolla did and a Civic would but I am more than happy with Mazda's driving dynamics and a real traditional automatic transmission complete with gears that give a direct and true feel between motor speed and travel speed. I'll never do that CVT nonsense again. I would drive standard but they are too hard to find.
