CX-5 owner for 1.5 years. When you have decided to buy a Mazda, you will learn to ignore all the negative comments from others. Old model la, old engine la, cramp rear seat la, analog meter and bla bla bla.. I have tried convincing myself to get something else with all the comments above, but I know this is the car I want after I test-driven all the competitors. It is not the faster, not the most comfortable, not the best handling, not the cheapest road tax but everything about this car is smooth and balance.. which is something I want for a day to day drive. But if you try other competitors properly, your story will be more differently than what you said now. I don’t say Mazda is not good. As a car lover fanboy, I love all cars including this Mazda. But Mazda Malaysia should have brought this CX5 facelift 2 years ago but not after 2 years later where other competitors already brought in such updated features and good powerful and good looking than CX5 facelift. Also, Mazda Malaysia didnt offered larger infortainment screen as other countries was. People have their opinions and have their facts as lots of reasons on why CX5 facelift now can’t beat other brands

I don't own a CX-5 but a Mazda3 BK. Totally agree with Kon on Mazda's driving feel. Still loving my car although it will be turning 17 years in 2 weeks' time! By the way, this CX-5 facelift was available in other countries a few years ago, and some even get a much larger and improved infotainment system.

those analog dials is not because they chose clarity, more like cost and feature tiering. all the higher tier ones we see in US are fully digitized instrument cluster

I not sure Kon aware that oversea market CX-5 already start use high resolution 10.25inch infotainment since 2020. Also poor not give bose sound system like in oversea.

But the infotainment system has been re-engineered, similar to the ones in the CX-30 and the 3 which also is available in the 2 and CX-3 (not in our market at least.) This was introduced in the pre-facelift globally housing a 10.25 inches screen. So it is no excuse that Bermaz did not include this in the facelift, never mind that it has been long overdue in our market. Already the price increase might deter some to get this over the CRV, yet I felt Bermaz could have put this on since it will still find homes.

Nope, the quality build alone will NEVER make up for the pathetic engine and below par fuel consumption. Better deals from other brand. No one wants just another pretty face.

It got to a point that even the review contents are the same for every facelift versions. It’s a bit lame. Driving experience can only go so far if you do not catch up to other brands in terms of offerings such as safety, accessories, etc.

As many mentioned about the larger infotainment screen and Bose sound system, I believe with our current low currency rate, the car price would be much higher which might drag the sales down. What to do, ringgit is so weak now haiz

Unfortunately, looks outdated inside. And also problem is that, Mazda Malaysia still bringing tiny size of audio screen while other competitors already brought in such updated features with bigger screen. Even other competitors looks better and good power and cheaper roadtax than this

the reverse camera is still quite bad, the CX-30 got much better resolution. Anyway Lexus is equally bad. A close friend of mine got the CX-5 2.0 High on 2022. Within 6 months the lower arm is making noise and need to be replaced, that spare part is taking 3-4 months to arrive. After the issue being sorted out, last year the SCBS module got faulty, the AEB stopped working, still waiting for parts to replace. Could be a lemon unit but this friend of mine is someone that seldom change cars (he kept all his cars over 10-15yrs) and he is considering to sell the car now around 2 years into ownership.

Mazda suspension parts usually wear quite fast, but 6 months is a bit crazy.

@@KonWaiLuenhahaha mine 3 months+ ady on 2nd set, 4th year ownership ady 4 sets of absorber and now running good. Steering airbag module also 4 sets, but I’m still a happy owner. Somehow the facelift doesn’t tickle my fancy, cos not much has really upgraded. I have paddle shifter, HUD, frameless mirrors, kick sensor for the power tailgate, MRCC, traffic sign recognition, all retrofitted. So basically my car is higher spec than the facelift one 😂. Only thing matters to me is the AC seat to blow my arse on warm weather while park outside. Still a happy owner nonetheless.

I've bought the pre facelift last year, supposedly wait for this facelift but Bermaz taking their own sweet time to launch (probably to counter H brand). But looking at what they offered, i don't feel bad since everything is exactly the same aside from that wireless charging. Putting those aside, driving the Mazda has always been a gem and something i will enjoy every drive (owned a 2016 Mazda 3 before this and each drive felt great!). The CX5 2.0 feels abit underpowered but IMO is sufficient for casual drive. If i need to go super fast, i will probably buy a sports car, not a SUV. Like Kon said, this is still a relevant model to consider if anyone plans to buy a SUV in this range. This is just my 2 cents... Hope all can have a good day!

Probably counter to H brand? lol! Yet so many CX5 rivals already far ahead than Bermaz Auto Mazda Malaysia where CX5 facelift is already outdated now as CX5 rivals looks brand new. Bermaz Auto Mazda should have brought this car long time ago quickly after debut new CX5 facelift not now. Besides, CX5 facelift also don’t offered bigger info screen, which is worst still and far behind CX5 rivals and CX5 in other countries already got 10 inch screen, no premium speakers and no full instrument cluster display. Which is really shame off.

Honestly i will nor able to differentiate btween previous & facelift on the road tho their r equipped wth new headlamp.Real facelift such new harrier or lexus suv definitely obvious as result of facelift work.Mazda should do more or is that the best Mazda designer can delivered?

The 2.0 ride comfort on the smaller tire rim was acceptable and power barely so,. But ride comfort on the 2.5 with 19" rim on poorly paved road was just too harsh for my liking.

i have a bmw e83 3.0d and ive considered upgrading. its a good looking car and as far as ive heard its quite reliable, my old beamer is good mechanically but the electronics oooh wee half of it doesnt work properly. i was thinking getting the 2.5 liter over the 2.0 petrol, should i avoid diesel? ive heard mazdas diesels arent that reliable?

suggest you get the 2.5T instead. road tax is the same with 2.5. fuel consumption not significantly higher. getting 2++ hp car below rm 200k is a no brainer.

The 2.0 GLS is probably the only one you shouldn't go for. The rest of the upper trims are just fine when it comes to features that you'd come to expect for a car this price range (Though Mazda Malaysia really should've included the larger 10.25" display). A lot of people will say about how other cars, especially the Chinese brands are better buy and more featured than the CX5, but those cars definitely won't have the same level or refinement and driving experience the Mazda has.

Actually, people’s opinion. If Mazda Malaysia brought in two years ago, sales would have continued to pick up. But since Mazda Malaysia borough in so late where other competitors company have already brought in, it’s already too late and now how to beat other competitors when comes about design, tech, handling, performance and others

7:55 you said Mazda didn’t see the point of re engineering the infotainment system? You are either not being transparent or didn’t do your homework 😅 Mazda never had to re engineer anything; a newer OS (7th gen) was already available (previously seen in CX30) . Bermaz chose to delete the OS and the 10.25“ screen to maximize their profit. This omission is inexcusable given CX-5 is a volume seller for Bermaz in Msia

Already way too late. Should have bringing in this CX5 facelift long time ago. Also, CX5 facelift also no premium speakers and no full instrument cluster display. CX5 facelift offered with 8 inch screen while CX5 rivals already got bigger screen and CX5 in other countries offered with 10 inch screen
