2024 Mazda CX-50 vs Mazda CX-5 | Comparison Review 

Cx5 has double pane glass, so it's more quiet and definitely more luxurious than cx50. CX50 has a better exterior, like more aggressive, but CX5 is overall better.

I love the exterior look of the CX-50, especially the Zircon Sand with the terra cotta leather. But then I test drove it and man, those seats were so uncomfortable. Then I sat in a CX-5 and drove it, and knew it was the car for me. And now it’s in my driveway.

I was going to get a CX-50, but when it really came down to purchase time the shorter overall length of the CX-5 worked better for me (I don't need the additional cargo room) plus it has an independent rear.

CX5 interior is more luxurious

My country sells the cx-50 only in the signature trim so i ended up getting the signature cx-5 instead. I do wonder what I would’ve picked if given the option of lower trim 50s. I love my cx-5 though and hope to have it for many years

I just bought the cx 5 Signature. I went for luxury vs "cool" looking. I just came off a jeep so got the rugged look out of the system. This is my 1st mazda. I love how quiet this car is. Made in Japan.... CX 5 wins. I do love the look of the cx 50 but happy with the cx5.

I chose the -50 Premium Plus. It (IMO) is sportier looking and handles firmer on the road and fun to drive. Cargo area is a bit larger (for my golf clubs). I like the firmness of the seats, I chose the non-leather because I slid around on the leather during the test drive. Like the higher ground clearance. Interior is nice and uncluttered. I like the horizontal (vs vertical) buttons for the HVAC system. Like the "snap" sound of the turn signals, not a "clicking" sound as most vehicles have. Like the center console controls for the Infotainment system, both the large control knob and music volume/mute knob; it is so convenient that I do not use the controls on the steering wheel. Moon roof is huge however the glass vent is either fully open or fully closed, no partial opening. A few glitches electronically: 1) Cargo hatch does not open sometimes, just beeps at you; have to start the engine for it to reset and open. 2) Forward looking radar stops working and flashes a warning on the dash for no apparent reason. Then just as mysteriously starts working again after a few minutes. 3) Window controls are too sensitive, hard to control partial roll down/up. 4) Automatic wipers do not sense morning dew, just rain drops. Have to switch to manual to clear windshield. 5) Heated seats have three settings: hot, really warm and barley noticeable. Overall it is just fun to drive. Zoom Zoom!

For the CX-5 or CX-50, can an iPod work by way of a USB port? If not, how about by way of BlueTooth?

I have now owned both 2024 CX-50, Premium Plus and 2024 CX5, Premium, and I will say CX5 is over all the better vehicle. The CX5 is quieter, and the interior is more refined. It is like comparing Toyota to Lexus, with the CX-50 being the Toyota and the CX5 being the Lexus.

Is the Android Auto for the CX-50 also wireless?

CX5is way better. Having compared both, the CX5 is way better quality compared to the CX50. The only thing the CX50 has over the CX5 is exterior styling and higher ground clearance. Amazing how Mazda wants to move upmarket but at the same time cut corners and build cheaper vehicles for higher price point. Mazda lost a customer.

Drove both vehicles and CX-50 to me is better than the CX5. Smooth ride and did great during bad snow storms in Midwest. Not to mention, the 50 looks way cleaner than the 5

If the cx-50 were priced the same as or cheaper than the cx-5, it would be a much easier buy. To get the cx-50 you have to be really won over by the aesthetic (which I do love) or the bit of extra room in the back with the seats up -- the tables actually turn in favor of the cx-5 when you fold the seats! I *want* to get a CX-50, but I can't justify the premium for something that actually has (surprisingly) less cargo volume with the seats folded, worse rear suspension, more cheap/plastic parts, less NVH reduction, and essentially just *looks cooler*.

Is it me or the 50 seems more cramped? Low roof line?

I would think the cx50 would have a better ride with longer wheel base and just all around better looking 😊❤❤❤😊

Cx5. Longer, rugged look for CX 50, not sure if it would stand test of time. Cx5 did - best selling

I rather have a CX-5 for the engineering, and it's built in Japan. The CX-50 shares bones with Yota and is built in AL.

The only reason I would consider a cx50 is when it comes with a hybrid version.

My choice is the CX-30. It´s pretty good quality and affordable for the most of us.

Would prefer the CX-50 if wheel wheels where painted like in CX-5, No more unpainted plastic wheels on any vehicle ever.

Can't go wrong with any Mazda. I feel sorry for anybody who bought a F*rd. It's a really bad time right now for that company.

Cloths seats are bad, the fibre pulls out and beads in just a month of regular use.

Why would you pay more for less? The CX-50 costs more than a CX-5 yet has a less sophisticated suspension, less headroom, less practical rear seat (60/40 vs 40/20/40), less impressive cargo area (all hard plastics vs fully carpeted and quieted cargo hold). Mazda has lost a former diehard customer. 😢

I hope Mazda gets bought by another company. They are garbage.
