Nice review and agree fully on the "not fun" comment. Yeah, finding or getting a Platinum is nice, but when it becomes a part-time job to even have a chance at that (especially if you have a typical job / work schedule and other things going on) it's like winning a prize but being too worn out to enjoy it.
This is the kind of stuff i like to see from the collectors series, i would argue it should be characters and designs that might not have made the cut for the regular Multiverse series aka not Batman and Superman variants that would have been made regardless or fan favorite and classic designs that everyone was already demanding, the Starfire Penguin wave is a good example of the former.
I'm glad we are finally getting the real Red Hood since it's been on my wishlist since the beginning, but it pains me to pay $40 after tax and shipping. The head is the only bit of new sculpt and paint. That card stand and 3 oversized, gummy weapons don't make this special.
@@chiefdan209 the perception it creates adds value, not the literal cost of manufacturing the bigger box and card stand. . Bigger box and card stand= bigger package. Bigger package = more value. It’s not the value in what you get inside the box, it’s the perceived value because of it being bigger. These things are simple really
All of these are super nice re paints with a good twist since they are all new characters. The price is a little too much for what you get, but so are all the other brands.
"Not Fun" is exactly it! "Taking the FUN out of toys" should be McFarlane's company tag line, officially or one imposed on him by his very tired and disappointed customers.
Why is the red hood sold out already 😂it’s 95% reuse … This collectors bs is so mid and overpriced. Hes creating artificial scaricity and artificial inflation by doing these skimpy stupid releases. Them not being on big bad toy store and entertainment earth is a huge red flag. I think some retailers don’t wanna deal with mcfarlane and all the cancelled pre orders. It’s like Todd doesn’t even care anymore, he has us by the balls and he knows it
I’ll never understand McFarlane. He’ll make a great character selection in Ragman, pony up for the complex paint deco, and give the figure a soft goods cape, but he won’t mold a set of blank lower legs to use with that Jon Kent buck. It makes me feel like I’m being asked to buy a lazy custom vs a production figure. No one builds expensive houses on cheap and faulty foundations like McFarlane does.
No. As usual, I'm not buying Incompatible McFarlane DC Figures. Wake me when the Manhunters go up though. Being bigger is perfect for them! I will try to Army Build Manhunters! DC doesn't give us neat enough Villains and it's been forever since we got an Army Builder Villain. Last one was way back with Omacs. I was slow and only got 2.
