Yep I can see Chris getting that combo gate on his big one and baby dumper and most of the other up grades. And a jack for the baby dumper. Far as up it would be nice to so a plug in on the box to plug in a solar panel when you got it sitting off to the side. Maybe even a Dimon plated covered panel on front you can open and angle up or remove if needed. Just a thought.
Jimmie I’ve thought about the idea of a solar panel charger but I have electricity only a few feet from the trailer so I just plug it in. The second issue is I’m totally in the woods and wouldn’t get much sun on the solar panels. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
Nice review! I see N&N trailers everywhere and the reason is very simple. They are made locally! They are located 40 miles North to where I live. Sure they make it to last our nasty winters. Michigan and Québec have similar winter. Thanks!
You are so fortunate to have several great manufacturers in your area and country. This is probably one of the best galvanized trailers in the industry. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
That looks like a very complete trailer to reduce quantity in the fleet. I look forward to see review after use, weather, and time take its toll. Excellent upgrades!!!
Van, I have to agree with you this N &N trailer with new combo gate is an awesome set-up. Glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
Can’t wait to see your review on the new car hauler. With all your new equipment you’re gonna need it. It definitely was fun seeing you Rachel . Thanks again for the accommodations.👍TCT
Yup several people have cautioned me about your intentions. May have to invest in an alarm system! So next year we get yours….. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
I agree, most dump trailers I’ve seen are only two way including the new Combo gate. I don’t spread gravel so that option wasn’t important to me. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
@@TonysCoolTools Lots of bells whistles and practicalities. This should be the one to last the rest of your life & far beyond. You made a very wise decision.
Nice trailer Tony. I bought one in March after watching your channel and Chris’s channel. I got one like your old one 6x12. Here in Nova Scotia 🇨🇦 I had to buy a piece of 3/4” galvanized pipe for the mesh tarp and after purchase I ordered the spare tire bracket and drop legs straight from N&N in Quebec. I love the trailer. Only wish the tires were a bit more heavy duty with a more ply rating. One thing I had to do was take two small aluminum “L” brackets along with stainless steel bolts and nuts and space and mount under the aluminum tarp cover. It was vibrating and when the sun hit it, it drove me crazy looking in the rear view mirror. Once the brackets were on the vibrating was gone. Keep the videos coming. 👍
I really appreciate your feedback. Fortunately my truck rear view mirror must have a different angle sine I don’t get glare off the tarp cover. In retrospect I believe there was an option to go with 16” tires with a higher ply rating. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
@@billobermeyer660 Hi Bill, great to hear from you. This N& N trailer is awesome. Looking forward to many years of service with it. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
Are the ramps as long as the pull out ones? They look pretty short/steep and could use another foot of lenght especially if ground is anything but perfectly level. I have had a couple car hauler style landscape trailers with the mesh drop down ramp. One would think the mesh would let wind through but they pulled awful and might as well had a 4x8 sheet of plywood for a sail. How was the wind drag on this when pulling empty? About the only thing missing is a winch! Enjoy and hope it works out well for you!👍
Wayne though I didn’t measure the last ramps I believe the condo gate is either equal to or a few inches longer. Here is the one advantage to the N&N combo system. Most dump trailers are 27” to30” to top of deck. N &N designed this so the deck height is 24” and the angle on the rams is not as steep, I agree a foot longer would be nice. I found a full gate much easier to load tractor than my stand alone ramps especially if the loader bucket is full. As you pointed out even though there is mesh on the top half the gate does catch wind but Chris and I were extremely impressed with how well it trailered on the 10 hr ride home especially on the mackinaw bridge which they were doing construction and 2 lane and a tight fit. I was getting 10 miles per gal (empty trailer) which isn’t that much different than my other trailer. But as you know we don’t buy a dump trailer for gas savings. Chris said he was getting about 10 miles to the gal as well. As far as a winch, Im using the two DRings up front with my Canadian portable winch for anything I want to pull up like logs or a dead tractor. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
Really awesome trailer. I was hoping you would cover the cost. We are in the market for a trailer and willing to make that drive to see Thumb. Obviously I would give them a call to discuss the cost. Can I ask for a Tony discount??? 😂
Sean, the folks at Thumb trailer will definitely take care of you and treat you the same way they took care of Chris and myself. I would call Brad at thumb trailer (18104140287) and tell him you saw the review and looking for a quote. There are options so it’s hard to give a final price. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
Daniel its the dump trailer I’ve been waiting for a long time. Very functional and useful. I’m hoping to use it for a long time. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
@@TonysCoolTools yes, I was there for the Wednesday day and night show. It was amazing. I just realized that i've been going to EAA every single year for the past 22 years. I went to the flea market to the Safety Syphon stand and chatted with Mike for a bit. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Ron, Chris and I both like out N&N trailers. They are super functional and will last through our Wisconsin winters. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
Great video Tony! I've been considering the combo gate too but i really wonder how it would be for unloading firewood off the back , tipped up for stacking or chucking. I can see that gate being a major hassle.... unless... you open it as a barn door and fabricate a normal lower gate with 2 laminated 2x12 or something... looking forward to your opinion and experience with that
That’s the one drawback on a combo gate is if you stack a lot of wood from the rear it isn’t very conducive to that unless you do what you suggest with a board across the back. For me the opportunity to load from the back was more important than unloading. As usual no “tool” is perfect for everyone. My previous N & N trailer would probably be better for you Thanks for watching and commenting.👍TCT
Lovely N&N Trailer Tony . I gather you could only use the 10 Tonne trailer due to your towing vehicle. Rear gates great for landscaping companies 😊 Only things missing is a N&N Trailer and Thumb Trailers T-Shirts 4XL😀🇦🇺
Ha ha Rick, I’ll have to work on that 4xL The trailer is multi functional and crosses over many trades (landscaping, contractors etc.) Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
Ironically that’s how my wife and I feel. This is an investment and if I keep up with maintenance and don’t overload it should last me a lifetime and my kids can get money for it when I’m gone😂 Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
Jean, glad you enjoyed the video. The trailer is 82” x 12’ and yes both Chris and my Kioti tractors will fit inside without the bucket. Thanks for watching and and commenting 👍TCT
Dick it took me a long time to find the trailer with all the bells and whistles that wouldn’t rust out in a few years and I’m glad N & N designed it. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
Al how ya doing. Hope you’re felling better and getting around. Chris and I have been blessed to find great companies like Thumb Trailer and N & N . Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
@@TonysCoolTools I'm not doing very well. I'm on oxygen full time now and unable to hardly get around. Long covid really did a number on me. Doctors don't figure I will ever get better. It's just a matter of time before I'm done. But in the meantime I just keep smiling and and take things on day at a time.
@@aldredske6197 Sorry to hear that Al. If there is anything I can help you out with don’t hesitate to ask since you’re so close. At least you have a positive attitude.👍TCT
I have seen Chris unload his dump trailer from the back by occasionally lifting the bed to make the wood slide down for an easy reach. How do you unload firewood with the new combo gate?
@@jefftaussig7373 If you unload from the back you would open 1 door and make a gate from plywood or 2x12 to block wood as you unload. If you primarily unload from the rear the combo gate may not be for you. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
@@jefftaussig7373 If you primarily unload from the rear the combo gate system may not be for you. However you can open one side of the trailer and make a gate from 2x12 . Thanks for watching and commenting TCT
Jeff I had no problems pulling a full load as long as I didn’t put to much weight on the front of the trailer. I had a 82 x 12’ Sur-trac before I bought the N & N trailer so I know it could handle the load. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
Davis, that’s a tough question. I paid right around $13,000 for my old trailer but it got the hydraulic jack installed a year later and they are about $800. If you are looking at a galvanized trailer in the future I would give Brad at Thumb Trailer a call and spec trailer out the way you want it. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
Edward I have not done a review on debarkers. There are two that I’m familiar with. One is inexpensive that bolts on your chainsaw. It has two or three flat blades and works pretty good but time consuming. The other is expensive ($500) and works on a 7” grinder and works extremely well. Check this video out ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-J5EVGSSeJrg.htmlsi=Y0seaxVreMMiiGJo 👍TCT
I paid $13,000 in 2021 but the new trailer has the hydraulic Jack and an up charge for the combo gate. If you are looking at an accurate quote I’d give Brad at Thumb Trailer a call. I’m sure he’d be happy to quote you with all the options you may want. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍TCT
I guess he just sells trailers. His 3 pt quick hitch was gouging the ground. An operator would have checked it. To busy trying to sell and get RU-vid points.
Yep you caught me, forgot to raise my 3 point up. Thanks for noticing and pointing that out, I know many viewers will find that a major grievance for sure.👍TCT
