The vast majority of assistant coaches ARE better soldiers than generals. That's a demonstrable fact. Which only suggests that Bill was more important to the success of the team than head coaches who have assistants who succeed as head coaches.
@smyers9052
@smyers9052 Месяц назад
Exactly. Bill deployed them to the limit of their capacity. A person who is good at a discrete task or even a contained strategy isn’t necessarily good at building master strategy, performing multiple tasks simultaneously, or preparing their personnel to perform at the highest level. As such, being a good OC in Belichik’s system - or any system - doesn’t make you HC material by default. And Belichik doesn’t deserve criticism for prioritizing optimal cogs for his machine over multidimensional talents built for greater things.

@i8rmnky
@i8rmnky Месяц назад
I could see Elway walking in and having the respect of the room, but part of that is respect for his physical gifts and competitive drive. Marino seemed to have the most natural charisma and popularity with teammates. Elway was the football alpha of the group. Marino was the social alpha of the group. Both translate to leadership. Jim Kelly would probably win most years.

the Top Golf Alpha Test (TGAT) works very well and always has been the go-to mindset of the non-quantitative community. It's also why executives of a certain age never could see leaders of a certain shade of melanin, since they hadn't seen such representation to base an alpha profiling off of. They ign'ant! LOL But now we have a better sense of what plays and what doesn't in locker rooms and see leaders across race pretty easily, having been given decades of representation to base opinion off of. Caleb, Daniels, Penix, JJ, Drake, Nix, Milton, Spencer, Pratt is the TGAT rankings I have for '24.

Top Golf Alpha Test tells you what percentage of their talent they'll use, basically. Like Tebow would outperform expectations, predicted by high TGAT. VY, too. Jason Campbell too. It might not make them the best, but means unlike a Leinart or Leaf, you'll see their talents able to be applied to an NFL offense. It's a factor, not a formula.

I've been saying all draft season that this class is crazy close to the 2021 class in makeup and that we might be able to looked to the 2021 draft order vs the Consensus board to potentially predict this draft a bit. Also as a Washington fan, I'm REALLY hoping Sam is right about JJ winning the Alpha comp. To me, JJ is the perfect Goldilocks QB in this draft. His sample size is the only thing keeping him from being my QB1. He does the important things coaches want, like playing within structure, executing a Pro-Style offense at a winning level, and avoiding sacks BETTER than the Top 3 "High Potential" playmakers. While also, as the youngest QB, still being a BETTER off-schedule playmaker, with higher-end flashes, than the polished guys. Who used the Van Wilder method of sticking around 5/6 years until their experience carried them against college comp. Even though I'm not a "Wins" as a QB stat guy, I think how good that Michigan team, as a whole is, is vastly overrated, After JJ we likely don't see another Michigan offensive player go until the 3rd and might only see 4 off that championship offense go in the whole draft, along with about the same off the defense. Compare that to Georgia where everybody BUT the QBs were 1st/2nd round caliber players and I think that paints a picture of what JJ did for that team. He wasn't putting up numbers, but was money on 3rd downs & played Sunday-type football every game. I feel way better about JJ from a gut, comp level too. Caleb is a lot like Kyler, but with a scary amount of that Johnny Maziel Arsonist Firefighter thing going on, where a lot of the good is just him fixing the problems he caused . Drake is like Daniel Jones with SOME of Josh Allen's upside, but ALL of his flaws, possibly slightly magnified. Jayden is like Baylor RG3, if it took him a 5th year to break out, Penix is like Tua meets Geno and Nix is like Kenny Pickett imitating Alex Smith. Because of Michigan's offense, I think it's way easier to see JJ's potential. He can execute the offense, hit all the slants, curls, outs, and digs in time, rhythm, and on schedule like Kirk Cousins, and I know it's a bold statement, but on top of that, when stuff breaks down or the team needs a play he has that athleticism and balls to crank it up from Cousins to Rodgers. Like a more athletic, higher ceiling, younger Brock Purdy, with plenty of room for development. If Harbaugh didn't have such a well-oiled machine,, and JJ wasn't so efficient at running it, he could have possibly raised his stock by putting out the fires he started like Caleb, Drake & Jayden, but he did his job and won games and I want that guy as my QB. So again, I hope he out Alpha'd everyone at Top Golf, I hope Adam Peters sees the same, if we could get NE to swap up for Drake or Jayden in exchange for 35 even better.
