2024 Polaris Xpedition ADV Review - THE GOOD & THE BAD

Great review of what that thing was designed to do. Sounds like a great trip.

On the tail gate cable I had the same issue on my Ranger and the fix for mine was to unbolt one end of the cable and twist it so the cable stayed inside the gap. No issue since with the cable sticking through the gap when closing the tail gate.

This or the new kawi would be my choice if lived in az. Perfect rig to explore, camp,hunt, and ride in extreme weather. I’m getting older I appreciate the comfort of these new inclosed cab sxs’s I’m getting to soft to be running around in anything under 30 degrees. Very excited to see what the new Kawasaki brings to the table.

I’ll take one but only with this bass guitar groove playing, pre-installed with the audio system!

Is the cab positive pressure when heat/AC is on? That’s one of the few things JD gators do well. My 835M has so much positive pressure I roll my window down slightly to ‘gently’ close the driver’s door. If you slam it you’ll never notice it.

I hope they change all their cab models to this door design - finally it opens like a pickup. CanAm should take note also.

At 6:40 Had to check for my Aussie, I thought that she was in your Xpedition. I would probable keep the back seats down or take them out and make a platform for the furry kid.

In My suzuki Jimny i have 25 ~ 28 miles per Gallon, can travel 280 miles on a full tank. And i almost dont hear the engine from inside.

they just ordered me a weight for the clutch that drops the rpm and quiets the cab sound

Did you adjust your QS3 shocks at any point while on the trip? I had seen some other reviews where people have burnt themselves trying to adjust the rear passenger side shock due to its position directly next to the exhaust. Seems like Polaris could have easily offered iQS or Live Valve on the Northstar trim. Otherwise, they’re a sweet ride! I had the opportunity to ride next to Sandcraft’s Northstar ADV recently and they look incredible. Related to the bowing in the rear glass, I wonder if it’s just the rigidity in the glass itself to give enough flexibility to prevent shattering. Most camper shells on trucks are also frameless and don’t seem to have any bowing, but also aren’t a designed to do the off-roading you would in UTVs. Polaris probably could have done an aluminum framed door with a glass insert to make it more secure. Maybe you guys will fab one 😉

Thanks for the review, but can I say that trying to listen to you talk over the background music is very annoying.

Street legal? Does it have a horn? is there a solution to install indicators to make it Street legal? would more insulation reduce engine noise? do they have a diesel engine model?

I am looking into getting the 2 seat adv. one question for you. How easy is that front bumper able to be taken off the rig from at the bottom? There has not been any around my dealers to go look at yet. The garage portion of my toy hauler is limited to 120 inches and if I can get that bumper off easy I could potentially snug the front tires to the back ramp door. Cheers thank you for your insight.

The best way to go, is waiting for the next generation, to loud, to expensive, no highway, to underpower. But Polaris is on to something.

Great review. I have to say that I can’t understand this vehicle and the point of it though. SXS started as a great alternative to spending piles and piles of money driving trucks for all your off road wants and needs. My 2019 Honda Talon and my 2019 RZR High Lifter both had a price point in the low 20’s. That made economical sense to me. I have them both set up for different riding types. This vehicle however costs as much as a 2024 Ford Raptor Ranger. The Ranger comes with over 400HP has arguably more off-road capability (certainly more stability) 1000 more creature comforts than this machine has. And this is true for a lot of mid size 4X4 off-road trucks. I guess my question is, why would anyone buy this over an actual truck now? To me this is the same as having a real nice hang glider and selling it for the same cost as an actual plane. I just don’t understand this vehicle. I guess I should say, I don’t understand the justification of spending this much money on a vehicle like this.

What size tires are those?

Does anyone have true feedback on how the unit seals out the dust? I’m finding it hard to believe you can roll up the windows and use the AC and be dust free. Would love to hear anyone’s experience. This is my buying decision deal breaker. Thanks!

I have a 2024 Polaris Xpedition XP 5 -- WAY TO NOISY - revs too high - apparently according to Polaris customer service - their engineering is DILIGENTLY working on a fix-- I REGRET MY PURCHASE - this is probably due to improper gearing (too LOW) I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS MACHINE AT ALL - Please note that there have been HUNDREDS of complaints about this problem and POLARIS is dragging their feet - PS - I have added sound barrier to area behind and under the seats and on the firewall in the engine bay - this helped the noise a bit but the HIGH revs are UNPLEASANT to say the least - OK if you have earplugs or you are hard of hearing - otherwise PASS PS I traded in my 2021 Polaris General and regret it - also the ADV is even nosier that the one with the dump box PS - you have to take off the rear skid plate to get at the oil filter - ridiculous
