2023 was an incredible year for the channel, and we are deeply grateful to all of you for watching, sharing, liking, and commenting on the videos. Your feedback on what you liked as well as what we could improve, has been invaluable.
In this video we briefly review the channel's growth, as well as discuss our plans and goals for 2024, what our main bottlenecks in production are, and what videos are currently in the pipeline.

Irregular is OK, even preferred. The nice thing about the Internet is its spontaneity & flexibility. NOT turning YT into TV 2.0, as many do, is a plus for me.

Looking for to the next lot of videos!! Not sure about the RU-vid shorts. Personally, I don't like them - I prefer to watch longer form videos. But maybe you guys could change that for me haha

Guys - I LOVE your channel. I've been heavily involved in tech for my whole life and been working in it since I was 16, now 44. Coming from the UK a lot of the early stuff passed me by as we were clearly on a different trajectory (Acorn / Atari / Commodore / Amstrad) till they pretty much meshed together I would say in the early to mid 90's with Windows 3.11 and especially Windows 95. You have been opening my eyes to those crucial early days of Windows 2 and before and given me a new sense of respect for the challenges they faced at the time. Thank you

Glad to see some part 2's coming this year. Just watched the Next part 1 video as it was suggested to me. Very good, but no part 2 for four years is a bit much!!

This channel is so good I don't want it to change. I would not blame you if you need to take more time or want to monetize more somehow. You need to do what's best for you.

Im afraid it’s only two hours long, for some reason DaVinci Resolve always starts the time counter at 01:00:00 instead of 00:00:00. I have absolutely no idea why it does that. Although rise of windows part 2 would definitely have been at least three hours long if I had kept to the original plan of covering both 2x and 3.0 in it. But three hours seemed a bit much so last summer I split the script into two pieces.

You could use shorts to highlight snippets of your longer videos!

Excellent content, you may however wish to consider that the newspaper/ magazine/ weekly issues that you use as source materials work on lead times for reviews and embargoes so a lot of the "we released some thing, some when" is never accurate, journalists will have been shown preview releases, advertising is photographed, filmed, produced and booked way in advance.

Great content on the pipeline folks!! All you content is high quality keep it as it is, quality over quantity is always a win for me. Everyone said it and I agree we all hate shorts. But I’m not a content creator and I know the algorithm may not be kind if you don’t do them. The only thing i can recommend if you folks decide to do them as a test is to get teasers from previous videos and see if that brings more viewers if it does not, don’t waste your time.

Shorts are ass, please don't dumb down your content for the TikTok generation. I even have a Browser add-on that blocks Shorts from my view. My favourite videos to watch are documentary style videos that are at least 30mins long.

Instead of a 2 or 3 hour video, why not post 30 minute videos more often, then make a supercut into one video when the series is done?

Yes it's a lot of work to research properly and then make videos. At least your channel is premium, not like channels that have millions of followers and their content is tripe and banal

Don't buy a mac book for editing you can't replace the ssd without buying a new mac book. And you will toast the ssd from editing.

I have never had apple products. Are you serious about not being able to replace the SSD? What if it were to break?

Apple are the one of the worst when it comes to right to repair, they would much rather you buy a whole new machine than fix it yourself. They make a lot more money selling you another $2000+ computer than if you picked up an SSD from Amazon for $100 and replaced it yourself. Brainwashed Apple sheep never listen though...

16GB of RAM is enough not to have to use the SSD (for swap storage). Any SSD will fail eventually, but with the modern SSD management software and enough RAM, an SSD will last at least ten years. The write capacity is typically 1000 times the size of the SSD, so a 256GB SSD will allow a total of 250,000 GB to be written before it starts failing. In other words, it will most likely outlive the MacBook Air.

@@hansc8433 indeed with 16GB RAM the SSD won't be dead before many years, especially with how few videos they make, the device will have lost software supports many years before the SSD has any issue

Please don't waste any of your precious time on shorts. RU-vid is pushing shorts because they don't want to pay you and you can't really make much making shorts. The subject material is 100% inappropriate for shorts. Besides, shorts are for dumb people with low attention spans. But most of all, I don't want yet more shorts in my timeline. I hate the format. I hate the window it works in. The comment section doesn't work right and most of all, you cannot learn anything in 35 seconds.
