2 Things I disagree with - 1. The steering is superb, having owned 41 difference ICE cars before my current Tesla from High-end Germans, Alfas, Muscle Cars etc I can say that the steering is right up there with the best, the overall handling and feedback on the other hand is ok to good without being great compared to the ICE car pack that's different from the directness and accuracy of the steering though. 2. You're not driving the car like it should be driven with 1 pedal driving - you are still in on/off mode on the accelerator like you would drive an ICE car, of course you can coast in a Tesla - instead of taking your foot all the way off there is a nice "neutral" position just before lifting off completely that feels and acts just like coasting in an ICE car, if you drive it properly your right foot basically never leaves the accelerator pedal unless you're stopped at lights, after 20,000 km I think I have hit the actual brake pedal less than a dozen times.

@bigredog100 6 месяцев назад
@@amrindersingh3949 but that's literally how all electric cars are. It's one pedal driving because of the regenerative breaking. You might be able to lower it in other cars, but that's the main reason why electric cars have great efficiency in the city.

One tap of the stalk and the car will simply sit at the speed. Up or down steep hills doesn’t matter like it does in an ICE vehicle.

Up to some time in 2020 (not sure exactly when) there were two settings for regen, still available in older Model 3s. I can set it to ‘low’ in mine - it’s much more comfortable, and unless I break very hard it’s regenerative breaking.

Great review but 2 things Dont ever change the steering, or the Regen setup they are just perfect as they are and integral to why the M3 is so enjoyable to drive.

What’s the Regen set up? When you say adjust the steering do you mean change settings? Like between chill and sport? Apologies if silly and I haven’t picked mine up yet so very new to this.
@sr20trx
@sr20trx 3 месяца назад
@kirstybonner4286 been a while since I watched this video, but I think he complained about the Teslas steering and the way the regen operates. Which is nuts. The Tesla has a very quick steering rack, 2 turns lock to lock, it provides very quick steering response making the car feel very agile, or if you see something on the road at the last minute you can quickly manoeuvre around it. The regen setup with the one pedal driving again is perfectly setup by default. It takes about 5 minutes to adapt to the feeling of modulating the throttle pedal to control braking coming from a regular car. I don't know why this reviewer picked these two points to criticise since they are almost universally accepted by most reviewers...and owners...as pretty much spot on.
@zaphodsbluecar9518
@zaphodsbluecar9518 6 месяцев назад
Has this guy ever driven a car before? The regen is spot-on - your reviewer needs to learn how to modulate his right foot. So much wrong with this review - obviously done zero research - for example, if you get a flat, use the puncture repair kit that is supplied with the vehicle - just like the majority of new cars. Quite a lot more wrong, borne of ignorance...
@derekl190
@derekl190 6 месяцев назад
I agree with what the guy said. You just need to have the experience of driving a wider range of better designed/built cars. The regen actual give you cramps when driving in the city. You are also ignorant of the fact that tire repair kits are for very low end cars.

Only person to mention the steering being off Centre?? The one pedal system for me was no issue as you are always getting regen and adding to the battery so that’s a positive. My wife and I did a test drive two weeks ago having never driven an EV and felt right at home in it and loved it so much we have ordered one. Tried the BYD seal but that felt heavy and the accelerator pedal was lazy in response and also too many buttons when they could have reduced easily. Tesla 👍

for real? Can't speak for Australia, but in the US and Europe EVs are starting to lose their "cool" factor and manufacturers like Toyota, Honda, Ford etc... shifting back to ICE and to a lesser degree, Hydrogen tech.
@budawang77
@budawang77 5 месяцев назад
@@user-we8mu7lf6x That's interesting. I wonder how much that's got to do with the increase in anti-EV propaganda? Here in Australia popularity continues to grow. One reason may be that almost half of Australian houses have rooftop solar which can make charging your EV extremely inexpensive. We also benefit from lower prices for excellent quality Chinese cars that are either more expensive or not available in your markets.

Did my test drive today of 2023 models in jan-24 at Tesla centre. I drove for 2 hours both Model Y and model 3. 1- 1st off fake leather steering is not grippy and uncomfortable to hold for long so that will stop me to buy it. 2- its fine to drive with avg traffic but with lot of traffic and conventional buttons missing and looking it at pad is I believe dangerous. 3- It is head and shoulders above rivals- tesla supercharge network, auto pilot, infotainment and voice controls. But having driven ID5 vw seems more like a car rather than an alien ship like tesla. 4-Model Y is an disappointment, I really would love an SUV but this one looks dead ugly. 5-Love model 3 sitting and driving and styling more for sure. I will not buy tesla because its steering sucked in 2023 version and sucked even more in 2024 version.

Sam, why no mention of the CONTROVERSIAL removal of the 2 stalks on the steering wheel, particularly the blinker stalk?? This has been mentioned WORLDWIDE, by many thousands of potential purchasers, as an absolute deal breaker for not going ahead with buying the car. Why have you OMITTED talking about them completely? It really does DESTROY your credibility! Has Tesla Australia bought you off?? Appalling review 😏😏
@DanubeRS
@DanubeRS 6 месяцев назад
I am in the same boat and don't agree with the stalks being removed. Going into my first test drive a few weeks ago, I thought for sure I would be reaching for a stalk that didn't exist, but somehow after my first few turns it was fine. If you were to own the car I think adaptation would be quick for most. Roundabouts could be tricky, but for larger ones on main arterials that turn less tightly, it's fine if you keep your hands at 10-2, as the intersection can be steered through without moving your hands. Enhance Automotive are working on aftermarket stalks, and I would think many owners would opt for this if they found it a stretch too far, but for most it's fine. As for a paid review, probably 😂 I would see what Paul @ CarExpert and Tom @ Chasing Cars say, but Matt @ The Right Car gave it pretty good grades.

Same here - just tested the Highland version here in Perth and deliberately went through as many round-a-bouts as I could and it was not an issue at all for me. Funny thing was I didn't phantom reach for stalks during the whole drive. In fact IMHO I found it better than stalks. @@DanubeRS

@@DanubeRSAnd what happens in a 2 car family, when constantly going from this blinker-on-steering wheel vehicle to a conventional blinker stalk in your other car ?? Sorry, it was totally unnecessary move by Musk and a massive own goal… a bit like the brain-dead joke (aka YOKE) in the new model S/X. Which Musk has had to “eat his words” on, because it’s now a $1,000 option on the S/X, with a round wheel being the standard !! Remember when Musk PROUDLY PROCLAIMED the the yoke was the VERY BEST STEERING device EVER, and there would NEVER AGAIN be a round steering wheel in the S/X… Look, Tesla has some amazing tech in EV’s, but sometimes they just make some really, really DUMB decisions😳😳
