2024 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro - This Should Be A CRIME

This dealer in Chesapeake Virginia is charging one of the most horrendous markups that I’ve seen in a long time. In the United States, there’s essentially no consumer protection and automotive dealers are some of the worst culprit of taking advantage of those who may be ill informed. Please do not ever pay these additional markups and shop around, there’s organizations out there like CarEdge who can help you get excellent deals on vehicles. I’m not sponsored by them but I know those people very well and I trust them. The Toyota forerunner TD Pro is an awesome vehicle but it’s not worth the price tag that these crazy people are asking.

Got that right. Was talking to someone at my work at how out of control auto pricing and pricing in general has gotten. COVID-19 became the excuse to inflate prices along with old fashion greed packaged as "the market." When a non-premium car costs as much as an entry level premium and in this case nearly a third of a decent mortgage you know the market is bound to collapse. I purchased a T4R TRD Offroad for 55K in August ('23) and paid off with a giant trade, 12JAN2024. GOD knows I've over spent plenty on ten Jeep [Wrangler] builds over the last 10-12 years. We as a society are way too hook on debt and these are priced too much. Even the used ones are out of control. Thank the Lord, I got that "crack monkey" off my back.

Get a minivan. There are no cheap vehicles on the market today, everything costs a lot, that's why the car industry is a parking lot now.

The fact it's a tried, true and quality built platform is why the resale is high, why it's bullet proof, why it can go anywhere and not break, why there's no fluff bs gizmos that break that no one even uses. The 200 series Land Cruiser, FJ and Lexus GX are the exact same. They don't break, they go anywhere....but if you want a serious 4wd offroading truck based platform, there aren't many options other than the Defender, Wrangler and Bronco all similar or higher priced.

The factory does not mark the lugs for torque verification. I installed the Sequoia TRD Pro suspension and sway bars post production before it left TMMI. Whenever we re-installed the wheels, one person would torque and yellow mark the lugs. Then, another would have to verify and mark blue. Also keeping a paper trail. Any Delta torque (safety related) needs to be verified. At least where I work

Went to this dealership last year looking to purchase a TRD Off Road Premium. Nearly $7000 over MSRP w/market adjustment. Same weak sales tactic “someone will buy it if you don’t” as they had 3 sitting on the lot. I seem to recall them dropping down to $3000 over MSRP. I walked. Same evening I talked to “Amanda” at Hall Toyota in Virginia Beach. She told me she’d be happy to sell me one at MSRP. And then they can bait and switch them to a ORP or a Limited with now a HUGE price difference and apparent savings. That is a waste of time and effort. As a former District Mgr ( factory rep for Mercedes-Benz of No America and 7 1/2 years as the same for Mazda Motors of Am)... I can tell you this... It is not necessarily because the manufacturer does not care, by law they may not discuss retail pricing.. period. Illegal. Once the dealer takes possession of the vehicle, he can sell at MSRP, 7% off the MSRP, or price any amount they want, to include $14,995. They can give the vehicle away, send it to the dump or burn it. It's their vehicle. The manufacturer has no say. By the way , there is no such thing as adjusting for market value. Weasel words. This is known as a "dealer pack". If there was such a thing as adjusting for market value, the manufacturer would do it.. well, it seems they already have with the obscene pricing. This has been going on for decades. Think Mazda RX7 back in 70s. As much as 50% added to the MSRP. $11, 000 for an $7,500 car. There are two local Toyota dealers here in So Oregon. One is known as the Evil Empire.. the other is Grants Pass Toyota. The evil Empire packed all of their vehicles at the beginning of covid ( they did it prior but a couple grand over was normal) Their packs are now in the multiple thousands and though covid is over , the "packs" remain. Gts Pass Toyota decided to sell at MSRP where, prior, the average "fixed" price was about 7% off MSRP. Their sales have sored and have attracted many potential buyers from the Evil Empire. PS the Evil Empire has many dealerships locally and around the country. In my opinion, to be avoided, as the dealer in this video should be as well.

I'm gonna catch a little flak comparing the two brands, but in the year 2000, a 2001 Isuzu VehiCROSS cost $32,000 brand new. Adjusted for inflation, that comes out to a little over $58,000. These two are comparable SUVs, in my opinion, being body on frame, longitudinal 4WD. With that being stated, for how much more you're getting in the newer vehicles, to pretty much stay on par with inflation is honestly legendary. Kudos to Toyota.
