2024 Toyota Tundra: Quality Control Issues Persist - Window Noise, Rattles, Tailgate Gaps, Etc.

In this video, I detail the multiple quality control quirks and annoyances of my 2024 Toyota Tundra. Yes, it's more than just rattling window controls. I knew I was making a compromise with the cheap material choices of the interior when I purchased this vehicle, but the more that I've lived with it, the interior doesn't feel like it will hold up for the long haul.
I have taken the truck in for service multiple times for these QC issues. Do I have the time and patience to keep taking the truck in? I guess we'll find out.

That is very disappointing! Shame on Toyota for losing their way with their quality and reliability. They've all but lost their loyal fanbase with every new truck and it will be the same for the '24 Landcruiser and '25 4-Runner. I'm counting my blessings for purchasing the '21 Tundra that was offered to me by the dealer that I placed a '22 order for. It was a pre-order cancellation and they went down the pre-order list and I was number 7. Lucky 7 paid off for me as the first six passed on it. I initially wanted a '21, but I was late in my search and there were none to be found. For once luck was on my side and I'm forever grateful for that. I absolutely love the quality of my '21 and wouldn't trade it for anything!

I'm disappointed by the tundra and it's matured enough and still doesn't meet expections. If only they put in everything the last tundra was but put in the new powertrain I'd be perfect but they couldn't even do that. There isn't any new suv I would buy. Heck I rather buy a Sienna and put in a sporty body than get an SUV. I plan to buy a 2021 tundra. If I want to save on fuel I'll get a hybrid commuter. After that horrible launch in 2022 nobody wants anything to do with this turbo crap POS full of hard plastics galore. Might as well send this crap to be assembled in Mexico. Can't be any worse then the current crap that San Antonio puts out. Most likely they will cave in and throw in the towel like Nissan did with the full size. At least the Titan is decent truck. Loads better then this crap.

I'm a Toyota guy through and through , I'm also a auto technician of 15+ yrs , my spouse and I both drive newer Toyotas. but if I were to recommend a half ton to anyone it wouldn't be the tundra . the last generation was the best tundra to own . I previously owned a 2019 SR5 Crewmax and it was flawless and much better build quality , I no longer needed a truck and traded it off towards a new rav4 . I am very happy with my rav4 also .. @@ZetaDogProductions I think its Toyota's New Global Architecture (abbreviated as TNGA) that is the problem. The new platforms are new processes to cut corners, cut costs, and increase margins IMHO. One by one all their body on frames are moving over to this new manufacturing process. And so far I'm not liking what I see. The new Tacoma is a good example. Its a cheap looking interior. I mean a ton of hard plastics everywhere. And it's 5K more then the competition. Toyota is banking allot on brand loyalty and perception. But its going to bite them in the ass at some point. I guess the word is out that the new Tundra is the polar opposite of the legend it replaced. Funny they went from the most reliable with the 5.7 V8 that could literally go a million miles to this turbo crap with hard plastics galore. The new Mexican made taco also seems to be a grossly overpriced POS. Really only the current 4 runner or GX 460 are the last decent body on frames that toyota makes. Soon they will offer nothing worth buying. You should have bought a Nissan Titan. Its a low volume truck that is overlooked. Still has the 5.6 V8 that does not have any of that cylinder deactivation BS. Its the last truck make that uses a no nonsense drive trains and the build quality is very good. I think TNGA as far as the new Tundra is concerned since it was from the bottom up totally new vehicle has been a mixed bag and not living up to the hype that was promised. It looks like now even with three production years they still are having trouble resolving known issues since they are using the same inferior parts. Hopefully mechanically the truck holds up but only time will tell. I have a 2015 SR5 + double cab with the TRD off road package with about 160 000 km in central Canada and real winters. Other than regular service I have only changed a belt tensioner and belt which did not fail but squeaked when raining and I figured it was time. Think I will need a brake job soon and first set of tires lasted to 100 000 km. The truck is not perfect but checks most boxes and is built to be durable. Hard to say if you should keep but if looking I would drive the older Tundra and see if it is something you could live with. If so look for a 2020 or 2021 with low mileage as they had lots of time to make it a good reliable tough truck.

Lots of documented cased of that. Your lucky if this turbo crap will go 150K miles.

@@HiPlains1 Are you oblivious to the fact that this drive train is not new? It's actually old and comes right out of a Lexus. Also, it took me an entire year to find the exact Tundra I wanted because they're impossible to find. Every dealer in my state is having a hard time keeping them on the lots.

@@JasonTylerS That's not what i'm seeing. I'm seeing 5-9K dollar discounts with tons of inventory. I was referring to the older Port injected 5.7 V8 this replaces. There is no way it will be anywhere near that reliable. That motor could literally run a million miles. If your paying MSRP then your not willing to travel to get a huge discount. Sounds like a regional thing. If you really set on this truck don't limit yourself to one state. It does not cost that much to ship a car. I've done it 3 times. www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=2024+tundra+not+selling+well#fpstate=ive&ip=1&vld=cid:ddb553b6,vid:a_RDQwcE3M0,st:0 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7U78rrFX7J4.html

@@JasonTylerS You need to look outside your regions. I'm seeing dealers knocking off 9 grand. I'm comparing this turbo motor to the port injected 5.7 V8 that could literally go a million miles. The outgoing is the better setup. There is no way the new motor can last that long. Direct injection and turbos can't offer that kind of durability. Use car guru. Its does not cost that much to ship a truck if your set on a tundra. But I'd recommend a 2021 instead.

Toyota has officially sold out and no longer caters to its loyal customers. Over priced junk is now what we get.

They're riding the coattails of their old school vehicles' reputation for quality, dependability, and reliability. These new generation trucks are made with the cell phone industry mentality of trading/upgrading vehicles every few years. They're no longer made to last, sadly.

@@ZetaDogProductions you are absolutely correct. So sad to see. All my vehicles are Toyota too. Not sure what else is out there that is better.

The problems you are having is due to that truck being poorly built in Mexico!

Hello! I'm currently on the hunt for a new truck that I plan to keep for the next 8-10 years too! I really appreciate how your reviews focus on the long-term ownership experience rather than just the initial "flashy features." It’s so helpful to hear about your personal experiences with your truck. Thanks for helpful content! 👍🙌

Its a 24. And BTW, sales are bombing. This has been a disaster for Toyota. This would be the worst choice for a full size. Its so bad that I see Toyota dropping out of the segment. This is going to end badly for the Tundra. If ya gotta get a low mileage 2021 and forget this pile of crap.

I traded mine in for a 2024 4 runner, had too much issue on mine. Mine had too much issue, noise all over inside my truck. Last one that made a noise was the foam on top of my roof inside my truck was making squeaks beside the plastic inside. Oh yeah my air damn motor broke too. Bro that truck has so much issue get rid of it. I got rid of the 1794 tundra. I can see this tundra to have more issue down the line. I got tired of going back and forth to the dealership. Get rid of your headache
