This channel started as a platform for sharing my adventures with my 3rd gen Tundra. However, with all the issues the truck had, I decided to move on and purchase a 5th gen 4Runner. Have you monitored your transmission temperature? I bought a Scan Gauge II to monitor if I ever tow. I'll install it to get a baseline temp before I tow. You are on the stock sized tires, right?
Like you I like my 4Runner a 2022 and I do tow a fishing boat about 1500lbs but I will be buying a additional boat around 4000-4500lbs. I did see where a Lady with her 4Runner was towing a 26ft Airstream at just under 5000lbs all over. I have had nothing but 1/2ton trucks for the last 35 years and am liking the smaller size of the 4runner for every day driving
I got Seat Covers and Steering Wheel Cover and Weather Techs for my 2015 Accord to protect all listed and now in 2024 the seats, carpets and the steering wheel look like day-one, now guess what I am going to get my new 2024 4runner?
Congratulations. You are driving the best vehicle that will ever exist. Don’t ever sell it but if you do you’ll probably get close to what you paid for it.
I traded a 2019 F150 for my 2024 4runner and it tows 3000lb better that the F150. Not as much power, but it's stiffer and seems to ride much smoother when towing. The F150 always felt like the frame was flexing.
Confirmed it tows great towing a 6x12 U-Haul trailer, and separately, a U-Haul car dolly with Honda civic loaded down. Both times were cross-country. Just us manual shift towing up a grad and keep in S4 the entire time.
You have a great vehicle that will last you a long time. Don’t listen to the naysayers. They don’t know what they’re talking about. I also have a Trd off-road forerunner one of the best vehicles ever made.

Keep the 5th gen. 4Runner videos coming! I just ordered my first 4Runner a week ago, a 2024 SR5 Premium in Underground. It should arrive in late July or early August according to the dealer.
Trading in my '16 F150 XLT for a '24 TRD Pro, waiting on the freight to arrive so I can go pick'r'up from my dealership a lil later on this month! Super excited. Underground is unreal in person. Pictures and videos on the internet do not do that color any justice.
I really like the Tundra 1794 Edition hybrid. Man, such a sweet ride. Interior is amazing, ride so smooth and so powerful. I was very impressed. I couldn't sign the papers. Just not sure to the outcome. Was assured that I will be covered with no issues. I don't want to deal with headaches. I have no energy for that. Going to lease a new Denali 5.3L and if all good with the Tundra, in 3 years, I am back into the Toyota dealer. I hope for Toyota that this will NOT become a major issues. That will be a shame.
From all the research I have done on towing with a 4Runner, 4th gear is supposedly the most effective gear for towing. Keeping it in "S" mode limits your transmission from shifting to 5th gear, as it limits the gear range from 1 to 4.
Picked up my 24 tundra limited trd offroad package, black package, jbl, sprayed in bed liner 61,500 4.9 interest , loving this truck so far I have 950 odo, dealer changed my oil at 500miles for free, because I was in fear of the recalls. I sent the oil to black rock. Waiting for results. Awesome review man! 🍻
Tried telling people 10 years ago on how newer vehicles will get to the point where there’s major issues from the get go, now here we are. This is one of the many reasons why I am not touching modern vehicles with a 10’ pole, even Toyota since their quality control has gone down the tubes. Even more sad knowing that a 1966 Ford Galaxie 500 I looked at is now needing a transmission rebuild at 162,000 miles has outlived a modern day Toyota, any modern vehicle for that matter. It will be getting to the point shortly where vehicles will be worse than they ever were before, even worse than 70’s and 80’s vehicles. Don’t care how much money I’ll have to sink in to my ‘66 Ford Galaxie 500 I am going to be getting to put back on the road, can’t pry it off my cold dead hands. It truly is a end of a era for good vehicles, unfortunately.
I had a 2013 and 2016 Tacoma. And after about a couple of years of having the 2016 Tacoma, I sold it because the engine/transmission combo was a no no for me. I liked the 2013 much better.
The Toyota 4Runner has been my dream truck since I was a kid finally bought a 2019 TRDOR brand new and absolutely loved it. I thought I was going to keep that truck forever and never buy another vehicle. This February a drunk driver came into my lane and hit me head on at 55 mph. My dream 4Runner took the impact like a Boulder crushing my front end all the way to the fire wall. My passengers and I walked away with just bumps n bruises. The 4Runner is solid in every since of the word. I actually cried at the scene while my wife watched knowing how much I loved my truck. Insurance totaled it out and I went straight to Toyota where I had to wait 3 weeks for my brand new 2024 Solar Octane TRDORP to arrive from Japan.. hopefully this will be my last purchase.. the 2024 will be the last real 4Runner get ‘em while you can
I just bought a 24 SR5 4runner and i am 66 and retired, This vehicle in all my years in other vehicles, hands down the best of the best, no nonsense engine and trans and the feel when driving is solid. I wanted this as the last year of the 6 cylinder and solid 5 speed trans, This is a keeper my friends. I owned 3 tacos , my last being a 4 banger 2.7. another great engine . But I wanted this so bad I traded my loved 4 banger for the 4runner, Rides like a Cadillac to me going fron the 4 banger to this lol All I will leave you with is if you want the last of one if not the most reliable SUV s than do it ! No rattles no nothing, SOLID
@@robertonunez9621 There's no "eco mode" per se. The eco light kicks on when you are maximizing fuel economy by not pushing the vehicle. You can turn the light off in the center stack settings.
Towed a bunch with Tacomas and 4runners, not the best but they get the job done. Definitely want trailer brakes like you have if towing much more than a utility trailer.
Got a 24 TRD off road premium recently specifically for the simplicity, reliability & quality of this generation of vehicle. To me, it has plenty of power for what I'm gonna use it for, I do wish it got better mileage, but it doesn't. I'm still ok with it, cause I know I will get my money's worth out of this vehicle, unlike most of the new way over technoligized garbage that's being made. I really can't imagine a 4-cylinder with an 8 speed transmission. To me, that will be about as worthless as our current government administration!!!!!
I think with all the Boeing- I mean Toyota- news lately, those of us with the 5th Gen 4R are celebrating!!! We should all carry tow ropes so we can assist the new Tacoma and tundra owners. 😉
@@ZetaDogProductions what seat cover are you going with? I have two car seats in my’23 Off Road premium. The seats looks bad for a few days after they are removed, but recovers well after about a week. Interested in what cover you go with. My wife says they aren’t safe.
@@jonmetropoulos5108 I haven't done a ton of research yet. Weather Tech makes a pretty decent looking cover, but it's a bit pricey. Might just get something off Amazon for now. I think they're only unsafe if they cover any airbags located in the seats.
@@ZetaDogProductions I’ve been told they make the car seat less secure….? Like I said, the foam bounced back fine, but I do have some concerns about the softex cover.
I traded in my Cadillac ATS for a 2022 nautical blue ORP and it was all decked out the only thing that is different from the pro is no roof rack and the shocks are not the fox shock otherwise it is identical to the pro right doe to the TRD skid plate, The lady that owned this worked at a Toyota dealership and had the extras added at the time of her purchase. That being said I have had an H2 yellow Hummer, A Cadillac escalade, two Mercedes Benz, a Lincoln Continental and others and this 4runner is by far my favorite. I feel that newer cars and trucks are going the way of cell phones. They start out good until they start adding so much stuff to them that you don't want or need. I am so happy to have bought this 4runner. My Cadillac was in the shop every 6 months or so and I just didn't like taking it to the shop all the time. This cost me several thousands of dollars to keep on the road. It was so fun and fast when it worked well. I am 60 now and have no real need for speed at this point. but I love the easy controls and the comfort this 4runner provides. Enjoying your content!!!
