It’s funny how people who don’t ride don’t understand why we do it, it’s the closest thing to flying, it’s being part of the machine, on top of the engine, feeling everything around you

Road Gliding! haha. I did 181 miles in the last 2 days. My bike has a total of 601. it's a Honda Trail 125. I can't stop obsessing over this RS!

Nice review. Fact check the 2020 R had a quick shifter included and the same torque. I think the 2023 quick shifter has been improved, the old one took a bit of a shove to change up. Love the new look. I think the R is enough for the road.

Bummer the exhaust system is all welded for 2024. No slipon. My other grip is it’s still not feasible to easy flip the shifting to reverse shift for track use

Great review but just a point, this isn't the first time that the R and RS have both had the bidirectional quickshifter, both have had them since 2020 as I had a 2020 R and just changed to the new RS.

Sit on both to decide. This is a razor sharp naked sport bike, the other is an aggressive hooligan bike. Ergonomics are different too despite both being nakeds.

I recently rode the 2023 RS - there is no instantaneous oomph in the higher gears from 40 mph - the engine wants to be revved which often means downshifting a gear or two when compared to my MT09 SP which weighs in at 182,7 kgs wet, powered by a torque-rich CP3 engine that pushes pro-tuned 118 whp 😎🏁🏁

Mistake #1, you tell us that the power has been increased to a figure, and you don't tell us from what? what was it before? oh, homework, you want us to stop the tape, go google the info and try to find it. Greeeeeat, what a cool reviewer, lets keep rolling see how many more blunders he has, off to a great thumbs down start.

More peaky power, taller 1st gear, closer ratios 2-6.... all the sort of things that make a bike more for racetracks and less for street. They may as well call the RS a Triumph Track Triple. As someone who thinks the Z900 or XSR900 are optimal street machines depending on your appetite for gizmos, I really don't know where this STRS sits. I know I feel cramped on it. It's like a supersport without fairings, barely more comfortable.
@throttlehungry4821
@throttlehungry4821 Год назад
Not for you then sir
@jimbo1485
@jimbo1485 Год назад
It’s nothing like a supersport ergonomics. I’m 6”2 and I have a 765rs. The bars are high and the rear sets are no where near as high and far back as a supersport. I have toured for 3 days straight on my 765rs, I’m a tall fat middle aged guy. Also making gears 2-6 shorter is better for the road. I dropped a tooth in my front sproket cause the 2019 model is geared so high Go ride an r1 then sit on a street triple and tell me what’s more comfortable
@JelloThatsMellow
@JelloThatsMellow Год назад
Generally the Triumphs I've ridden first gear is too short. Crazy quick acceleration then redline before I've even finished making a left turn. The revised gearing actually makes more sense for the street.
@exothermal.sprocket

@@jimbo1485 I've ridden R6, GSX-R600, 750, and 1000. I owned a ZX-6R. I've ridden Haybusa. I've ridden cruisers, scooters, naked sports bikes, motards, dirtbike. I've done a long trip on an FZ1. Had a Z900. Own an MT-09. Had SV650S bikes. Ridden FJR1300. Ridden Ducati 848. Ridden boat loads of things that escape my mind. The 765RS is more forward-leaning than a Z900 or XSR900, the pegs are higher. I have a 34" inseam and over 6 feet and middle aged.
@jimbo1485

Evans has to be one of the worst "journalists" in motorcycling. Gets stuff wrong although he's really only trying to repeat the press release. Unskilled rider who crashes stuff. There is nothing to be gained from this. Buy the bike if you think you'd like it.

RU-vid deleted my comment, but MO has gone WAY downhill since this guy took the reins. Duke ran a tight ship, and T-Rod, Dirty Sean, Pete Brisset, Troy, and the little hairy guy who’s name escapes me. That was a team.

The USA needs a kick in the backside, like a 44Teeth, a Bike World, or something else that has the sort of technical detail, relevance, connection, charisma, application, and pulse of motorcyclists State side (and I'm not talking about the cruiser-centric crowd either, sick to death of that worn out scene and every other motorcycle club or rally being jammed with them). They seem to have that sort of thing figured out pretty good in Europe often times but it seems like it's hit and miss in the States. Outside Revzilla, there's a couple independent guys trying to make a go, but they work for Google pretty much, nothing else.
@MechAdv

@@phillipsmith1489 Same, I really miss old MO. Those guys used to write with charisma and skill to hold your attention. They gave real opinions on the bikes, not watered down press release reviews. I stopped reading their reviews entirely sometime around last year.

Honestly I'm only here for the shootouts where they give their real opinions, and even then sometimes they don't give a clear winner in their comparisons.
