I agree 💯 with everything you said. That's a rare thing these days! One thing you might not have noticed is when you're using the travel assist, if you're more comfortable hugging the left side of the lane or right side of the lane, you can do that! I've never seen other cars do that. I also think the ID4 has a more spacious cargo area than the ioniq5 if that's important to you. It's relatively short car, but makes use of the space very efficiently.
The Ioniq 5 still seems like the better car to me. Local dealerships are telling me that the 2025 Ioniq 5 might start arriving next month. I hoping to get one, but of course that depends on the availability and price.
Many of these dislikes carried over from the 2021-23 models, sadly. And VW can't resolve (some of) them through over the air updates. I have a 2023 and generally enjoy it. Thanks for the video.
Very helpful and glad to see you branching out. Would love to see a Mach-E review! As an Ioniq 5 owner I agree with almost all your pros and cons but I can no longer live without true 1-pedal driving.😐
Just got the top trim and I agree with some of the cons, although not a dealbreaker here are the most annoying things: 1. Cars turns off immediately when you leave the seat - sometimes I run in the store with the family in the car. 2. Side windows not being double-layered 3. Retractable mirrors / but this is actually due to a parts shortage as the feature is listed in the promo booklet in Canada on all S trims. I have never experienced true one-pedal driving so I guess it’s makes my opinion of B mode a little less bias, but I just say I like it a lot.
Thanks for the review. I'm one of those on the fence about my first EV purchase. I appreciate the amount of information you packed into a short video. One thing: Piano black plastic is inexpensive. That's why it's everywhere, and customers' complaints aren't addressed.
Thank you for a good detailed review. I would just wish you could show some more clips of the details of the car. like when you talk about the ventilated seats, you could show some clips of the seats/perferrated holes!
This is one of the best reviews of the ID.4 for I have ever seen on RU-vid since you are on average car driver, not a full time car reviewer. I was seriously considering a ID.4 a couple years ago, but it had too many issues you highlighted. VW has definitely have made some improvements but it took like 4 years to see those come about. Even with this newer model you hit on some of the major issues of why I would not considerate it. Love my Volvo C40 instead.
Great video! I very seriously looked at the id.4 in 2022 while deciding on this, the Ioniq, or the Ford Mach-e. (I own a Mach-e now with 34000 miles and absolutely love it.). My wife has a 2017 Golf and we may want to replace it. The id.4 seems good. Surprised it doesn't have one pedal drive.
Thank you so much for this video. It seems like a work in progress on the ID.4. Could not agree more with you on all the points that need improvement. I test drove this car few years back and it was slow as molasses. Glad to see they are utilizing the 82 kWh battery (hope you felt the difference). Cannot wait for the new Ioniq5 model, especially once it will be manufactured at the plant in Georgia that should open this Fall. That will alleviate any issues with the federal and state (if applicable) credits in the future. I really appreciate your reviews, Corbin. Great job!
You didn't mention if the ID.4 supports V2L. Also, the Ioniq 5 Limited has a HUD that shows the car speed and other info which is not blocked by the steering wheel.
