In this episode we enlist the help of our friend Cory Fourniquet from GT Garage Talk to compare the legacy 2023 Toyota Tacoma against the ALL NEW 2024 Toyota Tacoma (Both TRD Off Road). Also, the 2023 Tacoma was the Movie Truck used in Blue Beetle with George Lopez... So there is that.

The problem is automobile manufacturers are not building vehicles the consumer wants, they are building vehicles the governments wants you to have.

New taco has fully boxed frame that won’t rust as easy. Coil springs and leaf springs. Better ride and handling. Faster. Hybrid version. Much better transmission. Much better seating position. Better LCD and infotainment and standard driver support functions. 3rd Gen is reliable and still looks good. It has a bit more standard features. Lower price. Let’s be serious it’s no contest if you can get past the price increase of new gen. And the fact so much is new and probably not as reliable yet.

I have that same 3rd gen Tacoma in blue crush metallic with manual transmission. Put the OTT tune & that helped with drivability big time! Not really a fast vehicle but it moves, u gotta push it a bit tho. Does over 70mph in 2nd ⚙️ lol 🤷

Turbos are high maintenance. 91 octane or 93 octane, depending where you're located. Consumption of oil is more than a naturally aspirated one. Therefore, you have to be on top of your oil changes and check your oil every 2 weeks. Just in case you have to top it off with more oil. You have to use good oil, not cheap oil. Turbo charge vehicles, you can not overfill your oil. It will severely damage everything. Turbos are nice, but the maintenance is not! I see these trucks lasting about 60k miles before something bad happens. Unless you're on top of it!

Turbos do suck & most 🛢️nowadays are pretty damn good but they're not too finicky & they do break down oil faster than a naturally aspirated engine I ✅ my 🛢️about once every 2 weeks but most normal people don't & I have a 3rd gen Tacoma my🛢️🎚️ is ALWAYS full. These 🆕 trucks are whack overpriced 🗑️I agree with ya in some ways tho 💯💪👍👍

4th gen is better in every way possible except in the most important aspect and main reason anyone buys toyotas. Its reliability. We'll see if its any good in the long term.
@billpulido

Unless you're on point with your oil changes, it won't last long. If you overfill oil in this truck, multiple things get severely damaged. 91 or 93 octane is best for these trucks. You have to constantly check the dip stick to make sure you're not low on oil. If you work this truck hard, you have to check the dip stick right after. Turbos are nice, but the maintenance it comes along with it, not so much.

I wanna see some big turbo swaps. I’m curious how much the 2.4 can take vs the 3.5 with the Magnusson SC.

Well the prototypes are hitting boost up to 24 psi anf most of these new turbo engines are boosting around 18psi. So the new Taco engine is designed to handle high boost compared to the 2gr which wasnt designed for forced induction.

The bed on that new Tacoma is so ridiculously short looking, the weird body accents and slanted cab alignment do it no favors and looks really bad. I love my 3rd Gen long bed (it's only long if measured in penis inches). The short beds look more and more useless as time goes on. I wonder what the weird highstrung engine configuration is going to be doing at 200k miles. Like, where it will be in terms of oxidation a which landfill. Reliability seems dubious.

I took the new Tacoma for a ride it just blows my mind away the garbage they built here the whole interior is all plastic hard cheap plastic, even the metal that they use for the put which I'm pretty sure is aluminum same thickness as a piece of paper when I was taking the truck for a ride and I would hit a little bump the whole Hood with Shake and I made sure it was locked in place continue to move every time I hit a little bump and if I hit a big bump oh my goodness I thought the hood was going to fly right off. But when you lift up the hood is it ever light way too light you pick up the hood on the older Tacoma it's heavy because it's quality doesn't matter how many bumps you hit the older Hood does not move. Also the ride is not better than the old one it just feels so cheaply made the whole vehicle from the metal they used they got rid of the leaf springs in the back which were 100% totally way better than the garbage they have now it's got a motor the size of a snow machine have a snow machine that's a joke that's four cylinder motor is going to be working too hard it's not going to last the reputation with the Tacoma Tacoma is going down quick they need the scrap this piece of junk I make an old model come back again for 2025 cuz their reputation it's going down quick quick

The 2024 looks better and has probably better suspension, handling and so on. The only comparison that needs to be addressed is V6 and 4 cylinder turbo. Then again, you can't compare the two because the 4 cylinder turbo is new. We don't know how reliable this new engine is...

Tacomas don’t come from Japan. They came from San Antonio and Mexico. 4Runners are made in Japan. Here in Honolulu you might get pulled over by a 4Runner police car, Officers can get a subsidy to drive personal vehicles as patrol units.

With Turbos, you have more maintenance. 91 or 93 octane. You'll find less oil on your dip stick monthly. Constantly have to be on it. Other than that, it's fine.

Doesn’t matter what it drives like or how nice it is. All of that will wear off sitting on the side of the road due to a bad turbo at 100k

3RD Gen all the way!! Toyota didn't make enough improvements for the 10k price increases and took away just as much as they added. Look at that RATS NEST under the hood of the 4th Gen. For the price of the PRO and Trail hunter get the bigger brother!!! I planned on keeping my 3rd gen but I will keep it for sure.

I got a 24 trd OR premium, multiple of my friends have third gens and are absolutely jealous after driving it. The ride, seating position, power delivery, technology and lack of gear hunting make the new truck way better. Absolutely worth the price increase. The third gen owners will come around after driving these new trucks, they just feel attacked right now cuz their baby isn’t king of the hill anymore

@@JP-uf6sz It's not that it's how much more the truck is and it's still a 3rd gen. wheel spacers and larger tires wider fender flairs and it's bigger!!! Toyota didn't do anything except just changed the color of the lip stick on the pig. They cheeped out instead for doing the right thing. I'd spend the extra dollars and get an older Tundra with the V8 over the mini-tundra 4th gen. I hope your OR works out for you I have the 3rd gen of your truck.
