Filmed in the Peak District in the county of Derbyshire. Locations include Bowden Bridge, Coldwell Clough, Edale Cross, Kinder Scout, Kinder Downfall, William Clough and Kinder Reservoir.
Written, presented, researched, directed, camera and sound, edited and music by Patrick Leach.

"The Solitary Rambler" is my series of amateur films of my journeys in the countryside accompanied by my own musical scores, which I compose and perform on my Yamaha keyboard.
Please note that, as with all the films I make, this is not actually intended to be an extensive guide to the area. This is a mini-movie of my personal journey along the walk, in which I often share some of my own personal stories.

Late in watching this Patrick we only got back from Robin Hoods Bay on Sunday, Kinderscout always takes me back to 1976 when as a 16 year old Scout along with 3 other Scouts we started our Pennine Way adventure a 280 mile walk to Kirk Yetholm, it was in the Scouts I discovered my love of walking and over 50 years later I'm still banging in the miles, great film thank you.

Another beautiful film and wonderful walk, but the real stand out here was the music score which added atmosphere in abundance. A real masterpiece of composition Patrick.

Lovely film, it reminds me of walking with my Dad as a young man in the 1970's on Kinder, which fueled my love of walking and the wonderful Peak District to this day. Thankyou.

Probably my fave Peak District walk. We went from Edale village, up onto the ridge via the zig zag path and along to the trig point, back down Jacob's Ladder and across the fields back to the car. A superb day.

It's a beautiful hike today, Patrick. I have only been up Kinder a few times, and last time was the Edale Skyline Challenge. That one did me in. It takes the young ones about 7 hours, it took me nearly 15 hours. I have really enjoyed this one, Patrick. Thank you so much for sharing. To think, if it were not for the mass trespass, then would we all be up there today?

I've always found Kinder to be a magical place. The views up there across the landscape are wonderful. It's always windy up there though and i thought it might blow your hat off. I remember walking down from Kinder to the Mermaids Pool. We should be thankful for the protesters, as they changed the law and won our right to roam, which we should have anyway. When i saw that you'd uploaded today, i thought as soon as I'm home then it's some tea and biscuits and let's catch up on where Patrick's been. You did some walking there and parts are difficult enough without holding a camera. You did extremely well. Lovely that those ladies thanked you for the pleasure your walks give to people. They really are always a joy to watch. Keep on rambling. Cheers Patrick 😁

I think Kinder is very magical too, love the place and haven't been up there much really. I do lose my hat (temporarily) in another film! 😅 Yes it's thanks to the protesters that we have the Peak District National park today and the right to roam. I tried to capture with my camera how difficult the walk can be in parts as well as showcasing the various terrain encountered on this walk. It was lovely of those ladies indeed, I was a bit worried a first when they suddenly approached me in the street, but once they explained it was indeed a lovely thing. I've never seen anything about Kinder Scout on film before, Patrick, and it's mighty good of you to have given us this presentation, which is fantastic. It's incredible to see so many rock formations on this plateau, nothing that I ever thought that what it would look like. The Downfall must really look spectacular when there's been a particular wet season, but it still looks great, like what you've shown us. The views, yes, must be really panoramic looking over to New Mills and into Greater Manchester. Anyhow, what people fought for all those years ago was well worth it, for the benefit of others to enjoy in later years up to present. The countryside of Great Britain should be welcome for us all (now, and in the future). Many thanks.

Glad you enjoyed this Ffranc. There are certainly many other videos on RU-vid of Kinder Scout as I guess it's one of the essential places to visit in the Peak District. This is the second one I've done. Would have loved to have seen thw Downfall in spate, but yes it was still great to see all the same. I think a lot of us take for granted the benefits we all have now to walk anywhere thanks to the trespass. Thanks as always Ffranc for watching and commenting 👍

Wow What walk Patrick beautiful Fan- Bleeding Tastic !!!! would love to do that walk looks a bit tricky in places though and how clumsy i am remember Lath Kill Dale Patrick and that was on a flat but stoney ground haha !!! 🤣 not long now before we come up again first week in November !!

I’ve just come back from the Peak District yesterday. The only walk I did was on Big Moor to the companion stones. Have done a bit of this walk but not on Kinder it’s just too steep.

I do believe it was getting windier as you got higher Patrick - as it does of course. But I thought your mic coped well. Always impressive up there - I didn't think their were that many people. Or maybe most of your route was away from the Kinder honey spots. I think that was it. Yes, I've seen Kinder Downfall spray backwards before. It is unusual. Gotta say I love them cloughs Patrick and I like to hear stories of the viewers. Good that the daughter of the late man got to speak to you. Well, you followed the mass trespassers. What would walking in this country be like without them? Good going - a fab walk. Mark

The wind certainly picked up Mark as I got closer onto Kinder. That piece of kitchen sponge stuck on my camera mic is great 😁 It doesn't shield the wind completely of course, but it still does a pretty good job. I started this walk pretty early in the morning, so it got busier with other walkers towards the end. I've not seen the backwards spray of the Downfall myself, hoping to do so of course one day. I love all those cloughs too as they descend from the plateau, they give it part of its character. Yeah great to have met those three women, nice of the one to mention her late father. A classic walk this of course. We do owe them a lot for our enjoyment of where we can walk today. Thanks for watching and commenting Mark. All the best down there 👍

Patrick, nice scenic 8 mile ramble, did you ever have a confrontation with a goat or sheep, a goat charge me on the Cleveland path, near robins hood bay, just missed me hit a post, i hope that red nose lis from the sun and not from too many pints?
