The BRAVESTAR 21.5 oz selvedge denim/jeans is the only jeans I will wear next year for a minimalist approach to heritage style. I'll have another pair or two for variety but for blue indigo style, this is the one!
I love Japanese jeans and selvedge for that matter but I wanted it in a good and affordable range. I found this one from Brave Star and it is awesome! Watch my video for the first impression.

BraveStar are the best. I own three pairs, with my latest pair being a pair of 22oz. You'll never find jeans of this quality, at these prices, in the United Kingdom.

Ever heard of Circle of Friends Studio ? I bought a pair of 12oz jeans made of Candiani (Italian Mill) Salvedge denim, and its honestly the nicest denim i own. (I own 12 peices of Japanese denim including the 12oz black metal by brave star and a Double black left hand twill 21oz ironside jacket. I own Wabash, slub and neppy pairs of modest weight between 11oz-14oz)

How are you liking your BraveStars? I’m considering getting a pair. Is it me or are the Brave Stars a little purple? Or a lighter blue? Are they a different color than the iron hearts?

I like my Brave Stars (14.5 oz and 21.5 oz). I haven’t yet compared the IH 666 with the BS, well, at least not on video. The IH 666 is a darker indigo and weaved different. It’s definitely softer. Thanks!

The weather where I am has gotten warmer so I do wear the 14.5 oz more than the 21.5.

@@StylishGreaseMonkey yes a sizing video would be great. I have a pair of slim straights that i thought would fit but they are to big. The sizing chart on their website is confusing. I measured my levis that fit perfect and they are a true 34" measuring 17" flat at the waistline. The size 34 bravestars are like 18" flat.

I ordered a true straight Bravestar in a 33, but I don’t think I can even button them! I wear a 32 or 33 in most other denim…this would be my first foray into selvage too…now I’ve got to figure out wha to exchange for…

How do you find the fit/waist size compares to other jeans you own? I ask because I want to order a pair but am a little unsure what size. Are you finding they stretch a lot?

The 21.5 I own in which I have only maybe worn 20 times so far has not stretched out yet. Many have experienced stretching over time and the most I’ve been told is 1.5 inches. I’m normally a 34 and I ordered a 34 on these. I was advised to order a 32 because that is supposed to be a 34. I can tell you that if I ordered a 32 that I don’t think I would be able to get it on. I’ll just have to deal with the stretching by using a belt later on and I’m okay with that. These are the cheapest true selvedge I have seen and I think one of the best entry level heavy denim. I ordered the IH 666 which cost three times and we will see if that is better.

@@StylishGreaseMonkey ok thanks. I’m a 33 in Orig fit Levy’s but 32 in all the other jeans with stretch built in. The Levy’s measure 34 in the waist. I’m thinking I could fit into either 32 or 33 but concerned the 33 will get too loose. Fortunately Brave Star currently has both sizes in what I want. Looking forward to see what you think of the IH jeans.

The fit is pretty close to what I am but remember that they sell these things small for the anticipation that it will stretch out. I’m normally a 34 on my waist and they sell you a size 32 for that. I bought a 34 because it was uncomfortably tight at 32. I’ll deal with the stretch later. I wear a regular taper or straight due to my size (I’m around 210 lbs..). Slim taper is slimmer than regular taper of course. If you’re on the slim side I would get that.

I’m usually a 30 and a 32 will give me one cuff as I noticed. I decided to go 34 on this one so I can double cuff it at about 1.5 or two inches.

I have to say, I dont like the cuts brave Star has. Their slim fit is is more like a wide leg fit. Their denim is solid and the contruction is decent. The thing i do like aout them is they sometimes offer, extinct dead-stock denim from Cone mills, as well as denim from the Kiahara Mill in Japan

It’s hit or miss with the cuts. I agree with you definitely on the Come mills and Japan selvedge. They also sell it for a decent price!

Yeah they suck. And if you don't decipher their codes for fitting , you're screwd.Even getting them tailored by them the measurements are wrong

First I discovered watches, now I Seikopath with many cool Seikos. Then I discovered cool boots, Have a set of thurseday wingtips, and dark olive captains. Now I stumbled into selvedge denim and made the mistake of going to a cool store here with many cool brands. Walked out with a pair of naked and famous catechu selvedge, and and a pair of freenote cloth 17 oz black. I really need to stop finding cool stuff or my bank account will implode.
