To me, one of the most amazing things about Bonds' insane home run total is how many of them he hit off lefties. People can say whatever they want about Bonds, but he belongs in the Hall of Fame every bit as much as any other player who's already there. I said what I said.
Yeah, greatest hitter to ever live. No doubt about that. But he cheated for years and lied about it, and continues to lie about it. For that reason, I don't think he belongs in the Hall. If one day he'll publicly admit and apologize for what he did, then maybe he'd have a shot. Some say what Bonds, McGwire, Sosa, etc. did was the best thing that ever happened to the game, but many players who played the game the honestly and with integrity would disagree.
@@DTB1995 not a showboat, but a narcissistic me first arrogant dugout cancer with a big dangling cross earring to piss off your dad. And I loved Bonds! Also, he was a bit of a showboat sometimes. Especially in Pittsburgh.
@@kidacid03Griffey doesn’t even come close. Look at the numbers. Argument can be made Griffey didn’t take steroids and thus suffered more injuries. But numbers on Bonds are stuff of Strat-o-matic fantasy
The craziest thing about Barry’s career and stats is that out of anyone who’s ever played major league ball, by far, not even in the same galaxy, has anyone seen fewer hittable pitches than Bonds did. NO ONE would pitch to him. He managed to hit 73 dingers in one season, while being intentionally walked like 118 times. Thats not counting the other like 200 walks that were basically intentional just by not throwing to him. It’s an insurmountable feet. No one will EVER do what he did with so few pitches to do it with.
The D-Backs, up by 2 in the ninth intentionally walked him with the bases loaded. They gave a run out of fear of him hitting a grand slam. It worked, next guy up flied out, ball game over.
This brother was the reason why I started watching baseball back again in 2005 i hope these hating sports reporters that didn't vote him into the Hall of Fame I hope you never get a Pulitzer or any kind of award.
@@flame-sky7148 Yes 100% but if you are not doing everything in your power whether natural or unnatural to keep your testosterone high you are missing out on life. So don't hate it till you try it. Most of the shitty food you eat is killing your liver anyways.
I remember watching that homer off Russ Ortiz @ Atlanta 17:49 live on ESPN as a teenager. I’m pretty sure he hit three in a game around that time. The guy was clearly the greatest, but man, he was a sunnuvabitch.
People can say what they want but those of us who grew up watching McGuire Sosa Bonds Griffey that was the best time to be a baseball fan those guys saved baseball i don't care about allegations he never tested positive Bud Selig didn't mind raking in the millions of dollars these guys were making for the MLB at that time attendance and viewer ships were high ,fans loved the longballs and when the government stepped in Selig through them all under the bus.. Bond's hand and eye coordination made him elite he could hit inside, outside, off lefties and breaking balls he was one of the best hitters I ever saw steroids or not u gotta make contact and he did like no other and I'm a big Braves fan...
9:45 He went straight to them two kids jumping up and down for what was probably their idol and everything they wanted to be when they grew up. Whole damn team of big league ball players and went to the kids first.
Bonds was just a good hitter... who cares if he juice a little. Did it really give him any advantage verses those who didn't use.. Bonds hands down the best homerun hitter of all time and Griffey Jr. Had the best swing of anyone ever IMO...
The Tom Brady of MLB. Bonds-7 mvps. Brady 7 rings. “Cheaters”, villains all want to hate yet couldn’t resist to watch. The GOATS. Difference is bonds didn’t win a ring
Bonds was on his way to getting a ring in 2002. The Angels, not fearing any other Giants players, decided to play scared and pitch around him. I can't remember another player getting intentionally walked so many times in a World Series. Although San Francisco lost, Bonds should have still been World Series MVP.
Regardless of the Steroids or not, before his body change, Bonds, looking like a twig was hitting the upper deck at Candlestick Park, which is actually below sea level. Cannot take that away from him.
Best hitter ever. I do wish we knew what he’d done without the roids. It was obvious in his size and number of HRs/season. Woulda been cool to see where he would compare to Ruth and Arron and Marris. McGuire too
You can see why they've been going to Latin America to get players. Black Americans play baseball on another level. They can talk all that STEROIDS shit they want, Bonds had mega power! Let that man in the HALL!
I don’t care how much steroids you pump into your body you’ll never see another naturally great hitter and all around athlete like this again. Steroids doesn’t make you hit like this I don’t care what you say.
If you're over 30 and you have not eaten perfectly throughout your entire life. You need to be on some sort of testosterone booster. You have no idea what you're missing out on and how skewed the studies on the effects have been towards more negative than what's actually happening. Anybody who reads this that's over 30 and you want to be a better version of yourself Go get a test from a real test center not your doctor.
He cheated , He broke the rules and should be banned from baseball. He was a great hitter but steroids made many balls fly out of the park that would otherwise have stayed in the park. His home run record is not a pure record.
Could have got there without cheating, just like McGuire he had power when he was skinny but he extended his career and/or played through injuries with Roids. The first homer in the video he weighed about 190
Apologies for the one year necro reply, but he was already a 1st ballot (2nd if you're pessimistic) hall of famer even before steroids. He might've gotten public sympathy from the media if he wasn't a colossal d!ck to them his entire career.
keep in mind after they started testing for the clear, he still won the batting title with a .361 avg.. while being tested.. Never tested positive for any banned substances
funny thing is everyone of these 'pitchers' was trying his hardest EVERwhen facing him prime.. when I gave up my HR to Bonds back in 1982, he was a HotDog base stealer.... the ball went 100' farther than his quick choke kine swing showed, even back then in San Mateo's Central Park over RF fence between redwood trees across El Camino Blvd off the IMagum Building wall... aloha
