I've always felt that there was just something terrifying upon seeing a Borg ship. Even if you didn't know who the Borg were and what their plans were to assimilate the galaxy. That ship just looked scary and evil.

I love the Star Trek: Destiny trilogy’s explanation of the Borg’s origin. Tie in to the what off factor on if we had gotten more Star Trek:Enterprise.

One of the most chilling lines I ever read was in a Star Trek Expanded Universe book, IIRC the prequel to David Mack's Destiny trilogy. In that timeline, just as the Borg had been repulsed from Sol a second time, the Borg sent this transmission: We are the Borg. You will be annihilated. Your biological and technological distinctiveness have become irrelevant. Resistance is futile... But welcome. *That* was the moment that the Collective saw the UFP as a genuine threat, and soon after the Dominion War would look like a tea party.

I watched "The Best of Both Worlds" when it was originally broadcast in May of 1990 and I can clearly remember the shock I felt watching Picard/Locutus give that little speech at the end. I practically howled with frustration when the screen went blank, followed by "TO BE CONTINUED...." in those blue letters. That Borg ship locked its tractor beam on the summer of '90, sliced it with a cutting beam, and assimilated it. If I had heard the Bangles' song "Cruel Summer" then, I would've thought it very fitting. That episode was my Wolf 359, and both it and Part II will always remain among my favorites. I even have the soundtrack on CD! 🖖😎👍

The Borg Cube inspired fear into all who were unlucky enough worthy of assimilation. Everyone else is lucky and unworthy enough and can smoothly cruise next to the Cube ☺

You should do a Top 10 scariest ships in Star Trek history list video. It Could include, Section 31, Aliens, Terrans, and Confederation or whatever. Nice video as always. The Cube always had a sense of doom to it.

Borg are like the cenobites of Trek and the cube is the lament configuration.

The classic borg look from TNG was and imho the most frightening, before Nanites there was surgical assimilation. The borg cube could be a menace in any sci-fi franchise i think, would love to see how the other big sci-fi franchises would fair if the borg were on the scene lol run for your life! xD

If I'd give picard credit for something, it'll be the fact that their plan was to use the federation's own tech to make new drones from the shadows. That was scary to think about and pretty clever, then the fact that the oringal collective was barely alive with the federation being their master crop was a nice taste of irony, if they can't directly assimilate the whole galaxy, maniplate a different faction that could and warp them so when the right trigger happens they become the new version of your kind, a fun and creepy idea.

One thing about the Borg was their own belief about their superiority, they believed the Federation was no match for them so that is why they sent only one cube each time. However I have always wondered after realizing that just one cube wasn’t enough to assimilate the Federation why they just didn’t send maybe two or more ships…..the Federation wouldn’t have stand a chance at all.

The Borg were definitely the most frightening adversary in all of Trek for me.

Could you do a breakdown of the Tactical Cube?? I always wondered why the Borg never sent any with the assimilation Cube into Federation space. Even one of those at the battle of Sector 001 would've turned the tides in their favor. I always pictured 3 tactical Cubes protecting 1 assimilation Cube, while a single Sphere would act as a force-recon ship.

I prefer the Borg before the introduction of the Queen, and certainly more powered up than what they eventually became.

The Borg are an interesting adversary, but i wonder if what happened in Picard Season 3 was the last of them? Yes the last Queen died, but the borg are finicky in how they operate, who knows how many dormant borg ships, Spheres and Cubes alike, lay sleeping in the void. And as we saw from both Voyager and Enterprise, they can function without a Queen. Although based on what happened in “The Last Generation” we can safely say that the Queen’s cube was the last operating one. so who knows how many dormant ships there are, Borg Space was Vast, and their ships throughout it are probably Like mines, waiting for a ship to stumble upon them and be too curious for their own good. Hopefully if the Federation or the Cooperative do come across a few of them, they’re dealt with swiftly.

Not that we got to see construction shipyard by any of the Federation's rivals, it'd have been interesting if Voyager had some across a construction facility during it's frequent "too close for comfort" encounters with the Collective. What would a facility look like that could construct vessels that were over 3km in size in every direction? Would it be a fully enwrapping structure like we see over Earth and Mars or more like a smaller "printer" that went along bit by bit like frameworks that climb up and build our modern skyscrapers?

The next simple shape the Borg is either a Rectangle, Triangle, Hexagon, Octagon or maybe a mix of all of them.

If a benevolent factions of the Borg exist, I’d think a malevolent one could as well. The Borg Queen has always had back ups, this last Queen could have just been the only one in this sector of space, I wouldn’t write the Borg off just yet

just a general question. why didn't the federation use small tactical space fighters? or the klingons. or romulans? a cloaked romulan drone ship with tricobalt explosives would be pretty amazing in a tactile battle. Imagine 2 runnabouts exit a federation ship in a battle against a warbird....fully automated...or with a holographic pilot. That would be tactically sound right? Why wasn't this ever used in star trek?

Remember the gient cube from the game Amanda 2 shame we never got that on screen.

I'd be interested in cannon follow up on the Borgati but I suspect moving forward the Star Trek franchise will just pretend Picard seasons 1 and 2 never happened.
