I was so sad when watching this video; . I felt so bad but thank you for the comments they really cheered me up. I fed my dog half of these things, and he’s still around. WOOF…
@philtallant2338 dark chocolate is bad for dogs. Milk chocolate is tolerated fairly easily however, like all treats don't share daily or even weekly. Once in a while won't kill them. Also, size of your dog makes a difference.
My uncle had a fruit farm. His dog ate all kinds of fruit, cherries, pears, peaches and yes grapes. As kids we would toss the dog grapes and he would catch them in the air. It was a farm dog some it was always outside, never ate store bought food and lived to 14 years of age
An ex-farmer here that worked and bred sheepdogs and the main food that I feed them was sheepmeat or beef. The dogs lived 15-18 years and were still interested in working. If I feed them dog biscuits they were made mainly of dried meat and fat. 😊
Necessarily that doesn't really mean anything and mostly it means that you've been feeding your dog very well because usually animals who've been fed very well live a very long happy life
Yeah when I was a kid, it was almost a regular occurance to feed the dogs our table scraps. We had multiple hunting dogs and I don't recall a single one developing any major health issues and all seemed to live respectably long lives. Then again they were hunting dogs so got lots of opportunities to run and exercise.
I had several dogs where there were some avocado trees, they eat all the fallen avocados(and grapes and some nuts), peeling them and leaving the pit, they were happy dogs, all of them living long, happy and healthy lives.
My little dog eats everything, there isn't much that he does eat. He eats bell pepper, manderan, mango, cucumber, nuts and lots more. He loves grapes and avocados. He stole about 7 Hot Cheetos from me and ate them before he even knew they were super spicy hot, he loves them. He begs me when he knows that I'm eating these foods. Garlic kills parasites and I put garlic in almost everything I cook. He gets all my table scraps. He is a happy healthy little 3 year old. The way I see it, if he would ever get lost, out in the street and alone he won't have a problem finding food, if you can eat it he will find it. He sees, hears and smells everything, good little 15lb watchdog, very smart and observant too. The only thing I have kept from him is chocolate. If I only had the energy and strength that he has.
I had a Shepard that would literally jump up and snatch Ava Aldo’s off the tree. He loved those things. I had no idea they were poisonous to a dog. Nor do I now, as he ate a LOT of them and never shows any negative signs.
Exactly! The only dog that we had and did survive almost 19 years... he ate human food... my father didn’t know these “diet plans” for dogs and he was working in a restaurant as a chef, all the rests including pizza he would bring to this dog at home... he lived healthy and died of age! Those foods contained onion and other “bad” things for dogs...
A dog will be a dog with or with out a human demands to survive My 10 dogs eat what they want, I havent bought dog food in 8 years n they happily active eating what i eat, all they need is love
Agreed... if you grew up with grandparents that have dogs, those dogs at least my grandparents Anyway, their dogs ate nearly 100% tablescraps and every one of their dogs that I can recall. Lived to be 15 + yrs... 1 or 2 over 20 and they were all medium to large sized dogs. But once they started pushing the "Bag dog food only" narrative, It's awful peculiar that in a couple yrs all dogs had an average lifespan of 12 years period, large Or small, which has never been the way it is Up until recent. And cancer in dogs... has become nearly the norm for an expiring buddy. They will tell you its always been that way but "back in the day..." vets simply mis-diagnosed symptoms of cronicly sick pets. ...really?... without going into a anti for the greater good/profit over pets... rant, ill leave that one for another time.
My dog ate a whole box of Walmart chocalate muffins in 2022 but he survived and was perfectly fine, still perfectly fine this year which is still weird to me
I have a Jack Russell. She loves milk, a small amount. She knows when i drink it and barks wanting some too. She gets blueberries in her salmon and peas kibble for breakfast every morning. Hoping the antioxidants in the blueberries keep her cancer free for life.
Also try giving her a mushroom supplement, does wonders for preventing cancer as well as supporting their immune system if they already have it. Dogs Naturally Magazine sells a really high quality one in their online store (thenaturaldogstore) called Immunity by Four Leaf Rover! We give our lab that mushroom supplement and an organic probiotic/prebiotic from Fera's Pets along with lots of fresh fruit and veggies daily and she's a super healthy girl!
Garlic is as good for your dogs as it is for us. Studies showed that it takes about 50 cloves twice a day for it to be toxic. Well that would make me sick too!!! A little is good for them. 💞
Yeah! Sounds like opinion. My dog eats grapes, onions, avocado, garlic, tomatoes, chocolate, drinks laps up coffee, tea, and everything. She ate a whole pumpkin pie she stole off the table while we were outside. She is 15 yrs old and still looks a lot younger. Not making this up, its true! Take care! 🐕
@@jmartin9785 my friend's dog died because of chocolate. Her neighbor gave the dark chocolate (i think 60 percent of dark cocoa, one bar) to her dog. Her dog ate the whole bar and then died afterwards. She did not know her dog ate chocolate because she was not there when her neighbors gave that international chocolate. Milk chocolate is okay (worse side effect is diarrhea).
1) Before their doctor visit my friend gave her children fresh garlic chips for 4 days, they had parasites. Doctor was puzzled, there was no longer signs that her children had parasites. Doctor asked her, "what did you do?" She said, "fresh garlic chips." 2) Another friend had a very sick cat that was dying, he had parasites (pin worms) and she was going to let him die, she didn't have money to take him to the vet. I told her about the children with parasites that ate garlic to kill the parasites. She then decided to give her cat fresh garlic, days later the cat showed huge signs of recovery and slowly becoming his old self. 3) Witnessing and knowing this first hand I gave my 5 year old little dog garlic, I saw parasites in his poop. His poop was a creamy green color, my dog was acting strange, definitely not himself. Days later he was back to his old self and his poop normal.
One tip : my dog was diagnosed with a heart murmur a few years ago. I started giving him 1/2 of one of my 1200 omega 3 oil capsule on his food each day. At his next yearly check up it had reduced and 12 months later it had disappeared altogether. This is 6 years ago now and he is 14 yrs old this July and still all clear. He has no joint or mobility problems either and runs in from the garden like an Exocet missile!
@@nickyvangreenen9574 I told the vet what I had been giving him when she couldn’t find any trace of his heart murmur and she just told me to carry on giving it him as he was in excellent health. When I started giving it to him I knew it wouldn’t do him any harm if it didn’t work - a heart is a heart after all.
@@mukulmukul9482 your welcome, I don’t know if it will work for all dogs but it definitely has kept my fur baby’s heart well and he walks and runs about like a much younger dog.
Ty. Idk why they come out w these stupid lists. First of all avocados are good for them. Of course not the pit. Only thing bad about grapes is that they can CHOKE on them a dog will prob not eat raw garlic. Cooked garlic is good for them as are nuts. Just don't give them anything they can CHOKE on. My 8 lb dog shares chocolate w me, of course l don't give him too much. Xylitol???? I don't even eat it. Chicken bones bad. Raw marrow bones fine. Yall are idiots.
You’re told don’t let your dog eat chicken bones! Mine finds them under the benches and has a good chew before I make it across the rec. We still call orange coffe and strawberry fudge dog crocs because we always gave them to the dogs when we found them in a box of chocolate, as Iv said before they all lived past 18 years of age.
I knew a guy with a very nice Avocado tree in his back yard, His pitty was always eating one that fell off of the tree. He seemed to love them. Even though I kept warning him they never stopped him from eating them. He lived a good life and was fine.
I lived on an avacado ranch and my pitbull would eat her weight in avacados every month... She lived to be 15.... At least now I know what killed her lol
Yeah we had a dog that ate the crap out of them I'm going to stop them from eating them he got so fat it was crazy we started running them on the beach just so he could be able to walk otherwise he would have gotten so fatty wouldn't have been able to walk it was only thing we could do, unless we kept him inside.
@@Lonnie1969s yeah that's great cause other than that, you would have had a FAT 🐖🐷...😊 TAKE CARE! Just a lil joke ok. They are so cute and cuddly when they are plump.
if my dogs get sick.. specially parvovirus. I give them garlic and carrots juice for there past recovery... for me garlic is best for dog.. base of my experience
Thank you for this useful and informative video. My pooch Pomeranian was sent to the vet recently for food poisoning. I have shared it with relatives with dogs.
Long lived in Florida. Recommend to and gave my dogs garlic pills to combat fleas. Never a problem. They both lived to 14+. Size weight physiology are factors
Well my French Bulldog ate coffee Ice cream his entire lifetime. I always gave him a Teaspoon maybe 3 or 4 times a week when we ate it. They say a Frenchy only lives about 9 years. My boy just passed away this year on his birthday of old age and was in great health most his lifetime. He was 13 and they say they only live about 9 years normally. He got an extra 5 years for me. I sometimes wonder if all of these are true, or like humans just some cannot have certain things like we cannot? KIKI 3/11/2009 - 3/11/2022 RIP my best friend.
My dad is a recent retired veterinarian (with over 40 years of experience). He told me that it was okay for my dog to eat the cat food and much worse for my cats to eat dog food. My darn finicky dog will not eat dog food. We still offer it all the time, and she's getting better about it. But she still goes for my cat's dry food all the time.
Very informative! Why are so many comments on this video trying to "prove" this information "wrong" or "didn't apply to them"? ie. "My dog ate ____ all the time and lived to be 15 yrs old" Now that we know better, we should DO better, right?
We have 2 Ridgebacks who eat almost every fruit and vegetable and most of the foods mentioned, they are very healthy. The go to the vet regularly for their check ups and always have a clean bill of health. If one dog has a reaction to a certain food, it does not mean all dogs have a problem with that food
Like toxins, it is the quantity that matters. Small amounts of some toxic foods can be survivable by larger breeds. PS - Avocado pits are toxic for humans too.
Well, ours dogs liked bowls of tea (with milk) and the occasional bowl of Guinness and they not only enjoyed it but had no side effects. They also like slices of bread with sunflower spread and bacon strips. They lived to their life expectancy and were happy. Thank you!
Strange. Our previous dog also ate everything: raw meat, fat, all kinds of bones (rabbit, chicken, pork, etc ...) left over from food leftovers. He lived for 17 years (German-Shepherd mix). The current dog is a similar mix. He loves raw chicken tails, plus he always eats cat food. He will be 12 years old now and thanks well :) The older cat is 13 years old and the other is 12 years old. They eat everything and are still running around like 10 years ago. What is really a strong problem is that over-sparing is the need to protect animals from everything. Those I know and keep animals in are much more likely to have diseases. The worst thing people do to animals is to keep them locked up in a home.
@@kingrex1931 My Retriever mix goes by him self around the yard to eat fruits and nuts.. What he found.. Bones, Soup, Meat, Liver and other organs.. He was 15 as he passed, My neighbour had a dog with 6 cancer and he died, and always right and expensive feeded...
@@willchristie2650 if you read other comments you would see many people saying they feed their dogs or know others that have feed their dogs this stuff and all turned out fine and lived to or longer then their average life span so that is one reason they find it suspect so maybe you are to trusting of the video and not paranoid enough
Fear porn propaganda in everything. If I sound like a conspiracy theorist, good. That simply means I put all information in check and have the intelligence to do the research myself. Yeast would have to stay in a dogs stomach for almost a week before it could ferment and begin causing harm to the Burnaby. The way a dogs digestive track is it poo poo stinkys everything it eats other than essential nutrients within 24 to 48 hours. Chocolate and chicken bones/poultry bones are the only things I understand to be an actual threat. Worry more about antifreeze, pesticides and fertilizers.
My dogs have eaten almost all of the foods mentioned. And both of my sweet fur babies are happy and healthy as ever!! However don’t just go around feeding your dogs different foods, because you can’t ever know if it will slowly damage one of your dog’s organs and it could be severely hurtful for your dog’s immune system. So to prevent this from happening you can still feed your dog human food and table scraps, just be sure to do some research before giving your dog any food. Because dogs can consume and digest things better than other dogs depending on their size, weight, and breed just like us humans consume things better than others. Edit: also, please don’t put hate and conflict in the comments because what I said is very true and will help your dog’s immune system.
I have a dog but he goes outside but I feel bad for him because my parents leave him outside even when it’s raining and lightning and thunder I just feel so bad for him I pray for him☹️🥺
What's bad for one dog is not bad for all. My pups loved garlic, onions and grapes. Never had a problem and they all live and have lived a long healthy life.
My dog died this month and they told me to get him neutered and he would never get cancer but he still got it and then he start having seizures so I'm at the point in my life I don't believe nothing none of y'all say
A friend of mine has her yard sprayed regularly with weed killers and pesticides and her dog walks on the grass and then licks his paws for long periods. I’ve warned her many times that these poisons cause pets to get cancer but she continues to use them.
My pet is having little of tea, coffee, ice cream, chocolate, almonds, cashew etc., sometimes. Yes, he's unable to digest grapes and vomits them. He refuses whatever is not good for him. More sensible than me.
My buddy has a 16yr old dog who regularly eats raw beef, chocolate, cooked ribs, cooked chicken, pizza, 3 lbs of cooked hamburgers, drinks plenty of beer and ate 2 oz of weed…HEs the happiest dog I ever met…Happy Birthday Maverick!
My vet told me he had a dog that knocked down a tray of Rice Krispies treats that were homemade in Pyrex. He ate the glass Pyrex as well as a Rice Krispies and the vet kept him at work and x-rayed him every couple of days. He thought the dog would have his intestines ripped but the Pyrex passed through intestinal tract. He told me he was surprised that the dog did not die but that their intestinal tract is actually made to produce of substance to push things through like bones and sticks because dogs too that stuff up.
They knocked a glass baking dish of lasagna over and ate it with some glass and both were ok but I was worried, thankfully they were ok. I never imagined they could have reached it lol
Had a dog that ate all kinds of fruit, never got sick..had another one who could open drawers and would eat all the chocolate she could get..also never got sick.
Thank you for this list. Absolute truth. Just because some dogs tolerate 'some' of these things doesn't mean they are not poisonious to them! I have seen & heard of many of these serious side effects among friends with pets. It is good as an animal lover/owner to realise there are things that we can learn from those who are more qualified. I am happy to learn & hence our maltese who is 17years old is very healthy apart from having cataracts.
I had a dog that had blood in its stool. I took it to a dog clinic, but the vet told me that my dog is beyond help. I gave it a mix of powdered charcoal and tea from a cigarette stick. He was cured. Eureka!
Tea from a cigarette stick??? So...like you take a good ol' Marlboro cowboy killer cancer stick, steep in hot water type of shit??? That some how cured the pooch from having some obvious serious medical condition... let's just forget about the many many poisonous substances found in a good ol' stogie. Are we talking seriously right now?
I grew up in the avocado grows in La Habra Heights our neighbor had a German Shepherd spent his whole life eating avocados off the ground healthy as a horse lived a long and happy life I'm calling b******* on this
@@bitteroldman701 I hear you. Our dog was treated and acted like a child" well behaved " child. When wife Andi went out to eat at drive through or ice cream. We ordered special for him. When we got food he waited to have a bit given to him. But there was a low "woof" when he felt it was too long between bites for him.
The reason why I don't feed dog cookies with peanut butter in them. I don't trust the peanut butter used. I am surprised about the dairy though; I give my dog/s yogurt and cottage cheese daily. As well my dog harvests the raspberries in the yard and I also give her raspberries and strawberries daily. I didn't know there was xylitol in these berries. Yikes!
Some foods you actually can give to dogs: Grape tomatoes, sliced tomatoes, carrots, sweet bell peppers (remember to remove the seeds), watermelon and cantaloupe (again, REMOVE THE SEEDS), apples (remove the seeds), beets (cooked, never raw, and never the greens), sweet potatoes (slice like steak fries, keep the skins on, dry them out in an oven on a foil-lined cookie sheet for a 3 hours at 250 degrees fahrenheit/ 130 celsius for a fun chewing treat that has the consistency of a pig's ear. Store in a ziplock bag in the fridge and these will last for two weeks, roughly).
Some pet owners unintentionally make their animal friends finicky. Their pets are fed a limited amount of different kinds of food (store bought) thinking that's good for them. Those animals are basically trained to eat only that, that's food for them and nothing else. But that also makes their stomach week and sensitive, more prone to getting sick over what they eat. Just look at all the videos made of starving animals, down to just bones and next to death. Many of the animals are maybe abandoned but free to roam the streets and can't find food. One of the reasons why I let my little dog eat whatever he wants is that I'm certain if something like that were ever to happen to him, being out in the streets all alone, I know he would find food, he knows how to find food on his own. No doubt he would even eat roadkill, ok, so he lives another day. He loves everyone. If he has to he will ask for food. And he is a natural explorer. I eat spicy food, he does too, he gets all my table scraps.
I knew people who had a big avocado tree and at least 2 dogs who ate avocados that fell from that tree. They had the most beautiful coats from the oil in the avocados. I guess no one told them that the avocados could have made them sick. The avocadoes certainly did not seem to harm them.
My childhood lab ate cookies, hot cheetos and god knows what else we gave him (not knowing better) and she lived to be 15. I guess it just depends on the puppy's bowel and immune system.
A work colleague used to bring his dog in to the office. It ate a bulb of garlic which had fallen on the floor in the kitchen. It showed no apparent effects except producing the most evil smelling farts known to to man or beast. We might have died from that, but the dog didnt care!
When I was sick from my stomach, Helicobacter Pylori, eating Huy Fung Siracha hot sauce daily as a medicine cured me. Nothing but garlic and hot chilies. Breakfast, lunch, and Dinner.
Where you get this foolishness from in Jamaica when it is avocado season we have to compete with the dogs to get them to eat plus we gave them garlic to help keep the fleas from them
interesting, i know someone that fed their dog a garlic tablet once a month. They did it as a natural way to stop flea's. Worked a treat, dog never had fleas and it also lived to the extreme ripe age of 17 which is not bad at all for a medium sized dog.
Lived in north Louisiana for a few years and had a lot of co-workers who were deer hunters. Got a lot of good venison in those times and fed the flank steaks and other less desirable cuts to my golden retriever. He was never happier or healthier. The vet told me to feed him non- meat cereal foods. I opened the dogs mouth, pointed to his teeth, and said, "That is not the mouth of a grazer. It is the mouth of a carnivore." Wolves and coyotes eat nothing but meat.
My 65 pound dog eats all of this. It's also a question of quantity. She eats 1 apple a day (including core clock house), and 1x daily another vegetable or fruit. I think it's very healthy. In theory all these things are correct, but to be serious: how many tomatoes does my dog have to eat to get sick??? I don't give chocolate of course, but she once ate 300 gram of pure chocolat + 500 g of pure butter (all behind my back). Nothing happened.
On second thought though, I’ve had dogs as a child that would literally eat everything that was mentioned in this video and they would live to be 17 or 18 years old. I guess it depends on the breed of dog, but then again I think more research should be done.
I gave my dogs Garlic water with the garlic when they had dog flue now they are still alive and well in my back yard trying to sound like Luthor Vandross.
Thank you my dog was not able to walk he was so tired i was so confused what happene then i understand everything well thanks you now my dog is super healthy 💓
WOW... 22 foods... and here I thought chocolate was the one and only... Good to know! Any chance you can cobble together a video like this on the many foods that are toxic to rabbits/bunnies?
The threshhold for the amount of chocolate a dog can consume before it is an issue is about 1 ounce per pound. For perspective, a Hersey bar weights about 1.55 ounces so a Chihuahua or Pomeranian, which weigh between 3.5 and 7 pounds, could eat 2-4 full chocolate bars and not be in danger. It's like alcohol to a human, not that it gets them drunk but in that it is not a healthy choice to consume, but it takes a considerable amount to actually kill you and although possible, it isn't something that comes up very often.
That calculation certainly works for a Lab I used to walk. He consumed various amounts of chocolate over his 10 year life. He was a big fellow about 100lbs, which probably lead to his shorter life. At one time he ate a 500g > 1 lb, chocolate bar without ill effect and on more than one occasion ate pound blocks of butter. He did develop a flaky skin condition in his final years but was generally a healthy dog.
My dog, a rescue from Spain, was starved when he came to me. I know all about bad food for dogs. But when I walk him he picks up anything he can find. Including things in plastic bags. I know this isn't good for him. But he is faster than I am. So I can't take the stuff away from him. When I can take a little thing not good to be eaten,,his jaws are too strong to take away the rest. So far, thank heaven, he has not been ill because of his strange eating-habits. But it can't be good for a dog to eat plastic! But what can one do! I give him his food, his treats, his filled Kongs. But a dog like this can never get enough!
My dog Scruffy Has grapes with me He is perfectly healthy but not in unusually large amounts just a few as I'm having a snack He even likes vegetable beef stew He has plenty to eat He gets high quality dog foods and Dog treats He just likes the things I eat He is active and intelligent. The other foods in this list we both avoid.
Here is another one my Vet in Ga didn't even know. Raw Salmon is very poisonous for dogs. I lived in the NW where this was common knowledge due to all the salmon fishing and cleaning.
I know of 2 dogs who scarfed up an entire plate of weed brownies and yeah they were baked! Paranoid and lethargic but just baked. They survived just fine. This was an accident btw. Also, I’ve fed my American bulldog grapes. She loved them. Also, these days I give my dog garlic powder on ground beef once a week. Garlic for flavor and to keep bugs at bay.
We used to give our farm dogs garlic powder mixed in their dog food. to rid them of worms from whatever they found out in the woods, they lived to a ripe old age.
I have a dog that's a pit bull I found this video and started to watch this now he is gonna healthy and no more bad foods for a canine companie I love him very much even though he can be super greedy like me I don't know how old he is now but I love him very much reminds me of my mom who passed away we I was 9 years old
I disagree about avacados because so many dog health experts have come out on this subject saying they are fine as long as the skin is avoided. Avacado oil is exceptionally healthy. I sprinkled a bit of garlic powder on my dogs' food during the west nile epidemic, to ward off mosquitos, and gave it in mild amounts to a tick-infested puppy I found at a dumpster and those ticks crawled off on their own so I could dispose of them. But too much garlic, especially in pill form, can be harmful. I knew a guy years ago who admitted he killed his cat giving it too much garlic for fleas. And a friend recently decided her cat should be on a strict rice and chicken diet, then it died. Rice is now known to contain arsenic. When I asked her if she knew what it died from, she said her vet did a blood draw and found it had high levels of arsenic. One thing to consider is that many dog foods are far worse than human food, with ingredients often sourced from downed, diseased and chemically medicated animals. Domestic horses, especially race horses, are given drugs that can cause kidney failure when ingested, yet horse meat is often found in dog food. Years ago living in San Jose, CA, I and others repeatedly tried to adopt animals from a shelter but kept being denied for many ridiculous reasons-no the dog's too skinny and will have problems, no we don't know it's history, no you adopted a kitten from the same litter yesterday and it would be too stressful on them both (I heard a man in line being told this). When I finally confronted the woman that they didn't seem to be in the adoption business, she yelled that they had a contract with a Fresno feed lot to provide so many pounds of animal meat. No Lie! When she realized she'd spilled the beans, she quickly departed into the back room, leaving us all aghast. Turns out this was later reported in the San Jose Mercury News and has been reported elsewhere about pet foods over the years. Just remember that many vets push dog food over human food because they've been provided free pet food during vet school that they learn on. Many pet foods use animals that were put to sleep or livestock that was administered dangerous drugs. Ever wonder why 50% of our dogs now die from cancer? Do your research people. I personally gave my pit bull grapes before knowing the danger, and he ended up in the hospital for 4 days. He'd also eaten an entire bag of dark chocolate he pulled off a counter years earlier. The dog died from an auto immune disorder. Did those things contribute? Sometimes we learn the hard way.
