Thanks for the video guys! I always wondered what this round could do with a full length barrel! One small tip though… Your accuracy will improve dramatically if you don’t rest your barrel on the shooting stick it will improve your barrel harmonics.
Absolutely, saw that immediately. Plus she’s got a hell of a flinch going on. He should pretend to load it and hand it to her with an empty chamber and watch her jump. Plus that scope is mounted ridiculously high and it’s way too big. Looks like 50mm obj.
After adding seven handguns chambered in .22TCM/9R to my collection during the last year I finally decided it was time to add the BA rifle so I just ordered the polymer stocked version while Bud's has them in stock - which isn't often. Also, the bolt rifle has a stronger, fully locked breech action for testing hand loads. If a manufacturer wants a sure-fire hit all they need to do is come out with a semiauto version along the lines of The Ruger 9mm carbine, or a M1 Carbine. They'd sell every one they can build.
22TCM is basically 223 short. Velocity 2K fps from a pistol and low recoil; and 2800 fps from a rifle. Parent case is 223 rem / 5.56mm NATO, open source so will never die. Good for handloaders. Reload 223 rem and if you get a split case, cut it down to 22TCM. its a litle less than a 223 short barrel . very interesting ammo for this small size . its a good choice for hunting or shtf gun . maybe in a semi auto version could be used as farm defense weapon
Shot out of a 4 inch barrel, you get a huge fireball from the unburned powder and 2200 fps. Out of a 20 inch barrel you get almost no muzzle flash and you pick up something over 500 fps.

I would like to see how the scope mount works. There's only one screw on top of the gun so was curious how it gets a firm mount. Also saw some guys mounting rings on it.

Yeah that d.i. products rail fit GREAT on my marlin795, had to beat it on with a hammer & diddnt even need the set screws!!! & that was after hand fitting with a file for over an hour..
Finding the 22 TCM is a pain in the butt and when you do find it it's anywhere from 21 on up to $28 a box Rock Island need to get on the ball and making more ammo .. it's a fun round to shoot out from a 1911 and very accurate
Are they not doing that thing anymore where you send them your box of used casings and they reload it and send it back to you for cheaper? Oh shit this was 3 years ago.

@@imman0328 I've heard of conversion barrels hopefully in the future i could find a mold to cast my own bullets and reload this round. Would save on lead cost and powder.
Finally found a 22 TCM 1911 after looking for a year and a half. What happened? I have 3 firearms in 5.7 x 28mm and have been wanting one in the 22 TCM badly. I reload for both calibers. I have to say I like the 22 TCM better than the 5.7 for a variety of reasons. !. Easier to load. Holds more powder making it a hotter cartridge. I get 2150 out of my 1911 without any pressure signs. It's a nice soft shooter. It weighs more than any traditional 1911 because of the small bore barrel having more steel. I like my DBX 57 the most out of my other 3 firearms. I get about the same velocity with the 8" barrel. The TCM cases are sturdier whereas the 5.7 cases are harder to size without damaging the base.
I wonder to know if there is gonna be a .25 tcm caliber or may be a future new caliber , I think it would be very interesting the performance of that round .

Like a fancy .22 Hornet. The .22 Hornet actually has better muzzle velocity. Wide range of bullets and its been around since WW2. I knew a guy that had a Thompson Contender pistol chambered in .22 Hornet back in the late 80s early 90s. Extremely accurate.
Sir im one of the fans of gb guns but this time i cannot understand how you did it in 50yards you have a good grouping but,is that riple zero on 25meters before you test it and how about 100yards accuracy
People tend to forget that a 5.56 has 3 times the muzzel energy of the 22tcm and out of same size barrel 5.56 is about 800fps faster and also BC of 5.56 is higher and its a heavier bullet as well
people also tend to forget that 5.56 won't fit in a 1911 frame it's an inch longer and also no 5.56 out of a 16 inch barrel is not doing anywhere near 3600 FPS more like 2900-3100 for 55 grain and 2800 for 62 grain out of a 20 inch barrel that's not a massive difference when you compare at the same barrel length 40 gr going 2800 vs 55gr going 2850
You’re exactly right. Why would you need this rifle when 223 rds come in a huge menu of velocities, weights and purposes. And cheaper ammo, and for instance a Ruger American bolt action in 223 is less that $400 maybe can be found at $350 and is probably more accurate. With optic mounts as well. I have a 5.7x28 a PS90 and a 22 tcm 1911 in the double stack magazine, the tcm barrel and spring have been in the box after two weeks of shooting it. It’s been a double stack 9mm for the last 4 yrs. and in the safe the whole time. I like the 57 way better for carry due to weight, capacity and loaded with elite ammunition’s penetrator rds it’s easily equal to the tcm in velocity with better lethality. Doesn’t seem to have any traits that aren’t unique or superior, so does anyone need another caliber to stock ammo for, especially one this obscure???
@@richardwaid4718 - I can carry 500 rounds of 22TCM just in the cargo pockets of my trousers. Imagine being able to pack out a few thousand rounds of ammo that fits my rifle and my pistol. That is the advantage. It's not always about what round has the most energy but what round is the most versatile for the given situation. I have a Five-seveN and a RIA MAPP that shoots the 22TCM9R. I was a huge 5.7x28 fan but I prefer the 22TCM. I just wish there were other ammo manufacturers interested in this cartridge.
@@j1.drxk. I couldn’t agree more, I have one of the early Rock Island double stack pistols with the 9mm conversion. I chronographed the 57x28 (fn blue tip and American Eagle) out of my fn57 and got 1700fps from the fn and 1650 from the AE) while the 22tcm averaged over 2000 fps that probably equates to 2800-2900 out of a 22 Tcm rifle. When the rifles showed up I wanted be but never pulled the trigger. If I can find some 22tcm dies I’ll probably get the rifle. Definitely would make a great hog gun.
Resting the barrel on the tripod is getting to me! How are you testing accuracy, but not take account for the changing of barrel harmonics by resting the barrel on the tripod?

I like the idea of this for a cheap target gun. That action with maybe a little heavier barrel in a mcmillan a5. Like a mini m40. To me, 22lr is pleasent to shoot, but id like somthing with a little more power than that...This would be great for that. Little more power an recoil, centerfire so it can be reloaded, and super cheap to reload and you can either load them hot, heavier projectiles or lighter.
Oh my another shooter opted to rest barrel on bipod (disturb free float) and expecting hole in a hole result. I don't think its fare to blame scope verticle stringing for sure. If bench rest try sand bag rest behind front stud area
Perfect truck gun well this and an 870 loaded with mr wars fosterslugs and one high brass buck shot at the beggining of the mag id have a .22tcm pistol aswell just to standardise but if im actually getting game small game i.e rabbit im reaching for the .17 match or hmr everytime
Listed velocity is 2800 with a 40sp I can get about 3000 with my hornet with the same bullet I'm gonna buy one of these just to see if I can get it up to my hornet loads then do some hunting with both to see how they perform what's the twist rate
I'd be interested to see a front lug bolt system. That single lug rear lock system doesn't seem really secure to me. Don't know what the breech pressures are like.
If you want to step up in scope yes the mount is needed I got mine mounted with a .22 BSA special for 22 mag nice fit it was. Works good. However the info is awesome!!!! great work on your behalf..and yes i am looking at a better scope nothing wrong with that BSA Special at all I want to stretch it out See how Far She`ll touch with effectiveness. BSA has been great at short range work that is for me 300 yards or less. At 2800 FPS 300 yards no challenge for the Rifle yes good enough for the shooter not so much on what the rifle can produce. I think this little 22 can effectively, consistently and accurately hit at 600 yards if not more. That is just me might be delusional but I have to try
Seems a bit of a lightweight for deer. South eastern white tails run on the small side so it might work. Must be a pretty exceptional 8 year old to be ready for deer hunting.
Lawrence Withrow I hunted for years with a .222, and with a neck shot at the base of the skull, the deer isn't going anywhere. It would suck on a running shot, but consider the area we hunt, We usually don't face running shots. And yes, my son is an exceptional shooter for his age, thanks for the concern.
.22 centerfire is legal for deer in many states, and this exceeds cartridges like the .22 hornet which has taken thousands of deer with clean humane kills.
My hat is off to rock island armoury. In my past surmisings I thought that someone should make a fatter .22 magnum case to up the mv. Well the .22 Tcm is my answer. I think that little rifle is beautiful. I think that it’s too bad that this little bullet couldn’t have been the cartridge that the m1 carbine was chambered for for the soldiers in the 2 ww. I read some where that the .30 carbine cartridge was a little slow and the soldiers couldn’t quite reach out when they needed to
Scope is way high , no good cheek weld , I think I would stick with tip off and not add on rail . But to each his own . How's the rifle , it looks like a remington I think it was the 509 can't remember model . Good lookin rifle .
My guess from seeing what 22TCM can do out of a pistol would be about 2200 to 2500 fps. That 22TCM looks like a miniature 7.62 x 25 Tokarev... I like it! Ok, I underestimated...
@@Lure-Benson I don't know about that but it doesn't matter since I have firearms in both calibers so I can use both without the need of changing out barrels, which would be very tedious and impractical even if possible.
@@Lure-Benson Re-barreling is not something that most gun shops and gun smith's are able to do, especially in somewhat rare, obscure and unpopular calibers like 7.62x25 and 22TCM. Not to mention your suggestion does not sound at all practical. I'm quite sure it would be far less expensive to purchase separate platforms in both these calibers than to have a custom barrel made and fitted or to have your rifle re-barreled. Firearms in these calibers are not particularly expensive or impossible to find, so why go through the trouble of rebarreling? For what purpose? Not to mention that I already mentioned to you that I now own both Tokarev and RIA 22TCM firearms and I would not want to re-barrel any of my firearms into a different caliber than their original calibers. I only mentioned in my comment that 22TCM looks like a miniature 7.62x25, I don't know why you perceived that I would be interested in the suggestion of re-barreling my firearms, which I am not. I only made an observation and never posed a question or inquiry about re-barreling anything.
@@jamal69jackson77 I'm not even a gunsmith or gun shop but I still build my own custom rifles mostly on Military Mauser 98 actions with the last one I did was a 300 WBY mag done on a commercial Mauser 98 action of Czech origin . I have done for my AR 10 a upper in 6mm - 284 win with 2nd upper in 6.5-284 Norma - 3rd upper in 375-325WSM . I have done AR 15 uppers in 17 Remington - 7.62x39 - 6 mm x45 . 224 Valkyrie. I also did a Remington 722 in 6 mm -284 win using a Douglas barrel . I use barrels from Pac Nor or Douglas and the chamber reamers are from Pacific tool & gauge, so don't tell me re barreling is to difficult to do, it's not . Even my lathe was made in 1940 . I could buy a reamer in 7.62x25 very easy with the head space gauges and buy a 30 cal barrel to thread then chamber and install on a bolt action rifle.. If you don't have actual knowledge of custom rifle building you shouldn't be telling people re barreling a rifle is to difficult . This is the problem on RU-vid filled with teenagers and brain dead drug addicts communist loving millennials that don't know jack shit then talk shit to people that have been there and done that .
It is quite high, but at the time this video was made that was the only mounting option we had. The base starts thing soft too high, then toss on some rings and suddenly you're in the sky. Good thing that only impacts comfort
I'm at 2:52 and am guessing, (based on the muzzle flash I saw exiting the .22 TCM pistol Sootch was firing) a low of 2740, high of 2980, therefore an average of 2860 - I hope, I hope, I hope
And I suppose it's nice to have a pistol and rifle in the same caliber I agree. But my plane old 2 23 which they have mountains of ammunition for I don't know what do you think
True but you can't stuff 20 rounds of .223 into the pistol grip of a Glock 17, or CZ 75B converted to .22TCM9R now can you! And the pistol versions of .22TCM/9R aren't exactly delivering shabby numbers either! Factory ammo generally exceeds 2,000 fps from 5" 1911 barrels and my own hand loads have clocked as high as 2,067 fps from a 4.5" CZ 75B TCM9R conversion barrel firing my own 5.56x24! I've had 33 grain Speer JHP go 2,174 fps from the same 4.5" barrel- same 5.56x24. Also, every fired .223 case you have is future .22TCM/5.56x24 case if so choose!
i like both the 22tcm and the 5.7by28 but i refuse to own either because the cost of ammo is ridiculous, they have purposely kept ammo prices high since covid and it pisses me off.
It's a really cool caliber in a handgun. Even the fn57 can't match the numbers of this round out of a pistol. But once you get into rifles it just becomes trivial at best. It's a necked down 223 casing. It's basically. 223 short. You might as well just use the parent round. Neither round really has any kick, 223 is faster and has almost twice as much energy down range. Oh and depending where you get your ammo from. the ammo is cheaper.
It's not trivial to us Filipinos since our government has banned the .223 and 5.56 from civilian use and authorizes it only for police and military. .22 TCM is the hottest round we can get in the Philippines.
I like the TCM for a pistol, but for a rifle, it doesn't have the same allure for me. I have a 5.56 that is higher in velocity with a heavier bullet and the ammo costs less. I also have a .17HMR with similar performance or the .17 WMR that is a lot more potent. The .22TCM/9mm combination 1911 pistol is a great offering and I would like one, just not the bolt action rifle. If it was offered in a carbine or lever action it may be something I would consider.
This is the Philippines, the home of the Armscor 22 TCM. It's a big deal to us Filipinos since our government has banned the .223 and 5.56 from civilian use and authorizes it only for police and military. .22 TCM is the hottest round we can get in the Philippines. So what's the use of a .223 if we can't get it?
My concerns: 1) these rifles were terribly inaccurate when they came out. Last year I contacted Armscor. They said they knew about this and at the time didn't know whether it was the cartridge or the rifle. Your group seemed better than what I had seen at the time. Does anyone know if the problems have been corrected? 2) The mounted scope seemed very high with that mount. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Very impressive ballistics though. 22 Hornet worthy. Rifle and ammo is very inexpensive. I handled a rifle in TX. Certainly not CZ material, but it had an attractive "working man's gun" attractiveness. I liked it. The stock is made from a native wood from the Philippines, though off-hand I don't remember which tree.
He said about 1800fps out of a 5” handgun barrel…the rifle is 22”, so 17” more of barrel to gain 100fps…that’s just under 6fps/in gain. Honestly I expected more. I would’ve guessed 10fps/in, so one almost has to ask if the barrel is too long and potentially robbing velocity?
