I (31 y/o female) was attacked in my own backyard on March 15, 2021 by my stalker. His weapon of choice that night was a Ruger 10/22 Archangel. He knocked me unconscious before trying to flee and once he was right outside of my fence (roughly 13 yards away from me), he turned around and open fired. He shot me twice, once through the top of my left foot (which did penetrate my foot all the way through but didn't exit the converse sneaker that I had on) and once through the top of my left shoulder, which penetrated the skin/muscle and got lodged in the bone. He had emptied at least 2 full magazines and had been within 6 inches of shooting through the top of my skull at least 4x. The doctors that treated me at Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, GA (they are well known for the Marcus Trauma Center) told me that if he'd shot through my skull, there is absolutely 0% chance that I'd be alive. They were explaining the damage done by .22LR rounds, particularly in the human skull, and after experiencing what I did even without the headshot, I wholeheartedly believe that .22LR is one of the most dangerous/effective rounds that people can possess. Sorry for the long spiel, but I've been trying to educate myself more (hence what lead me to this video) as a means of handling the trauma. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos and for explaining things in a way that people can understand. It definitely makes me appreciate life that much more to see an actual live example of how much worse things could've been.

My aunt was shot in the head with a .22. She was bent over and the bullet entered right at the hairline and came to rest in her brain, behind her left ear. She is alive an well, with 5 children and 3 grandchildren. The bullet was fired from across the street (but that's a whole other story). But she was in the woods for a few days. It was a miracle she survived. It was a one-in-a-million chance. Half an inch in either direction and she would be dead. But yeah, awesome video!

Something to remember is that most 22LR ammo is plain, unjacketed lead. Higher velocity into something hard can cause it to shatter and the fragments won't travel very far because of their lower mass. Decrease that velocity just a bit and the bullet will deform, but not shatter. That leaves enough mass, and by extension, energy to penetrate the rear of the skull. Finally, the thickness of the skull varies widely depending on which part of the skull is being talked about. It is thickest in the brow and forehead, but the rear of the eye socket is not very thick at all. If you hit the forehead or brow ridge the bullet is more likely to shatter. If you hit the eye socket or temple, it's less likely to shatter. Looking at all those factors explains what was seen here.

*Long yet informative post* Greetings, Per diem Medical examiners office technician; and a semi retired Level 1 trauma unit OR RN In northern New Jersey, not even 2 miles outside of Manhattan here! 👋🏼 Unequivocally .22 rounds are deadly and absolutely destructive to the human body. So many people are jaded by the “ballistics gelatin wound channel” nonsense that they forget, “7 inches of penetration is unacceptable!” Means just that- unacceptable in ballistics gelatin! They’re all full of shit and don’t have any medical experience whatsoever. Your aorta, heart, lungs, liver, intestines, etc are not one foot deep within your body! Your talking 4-5 inches tops for a lethal wound. I’ve seen solid build 6’3 grown men who were stabbed with a pocket knife with a blade that’s only 3.5-4 inches who died from punctured hearts and severed aortas; or died extremely slowly from infection/ sepsis from an abdominal puncture into the intestines which fecal matter made its way into the abdominal cavity. People ALWAYS fail to comprehend why the FBI standard is what it is- they were simply outgunned and were using .38 special round nose ammo out of 2-2.5 inch barrels from across a parking lot. Not only that the ammo they used was sub par gun range ammo. Even still, the perp was hit in vital organs and the like and was so keyed up on cocaine he kept fighting! I say all that to say this- I’ve seen more people young and old, big and skinny, tall and short, etc almost 5 fold in numbers on my operating tables and the examination tables in the Morgue; who were killed by .22s compared to all other calibers COMBINED. No exaggeration. I’ve been at this going on almost 16 years now. I’ve went out on pick ups of dead bodies who we later got access to the cameras of the shooting and these people were dead before they hit the ground. Shot by .22s I’m talking body locks up and free fall to the pavement with no movement whatsoever afterwards, dead. 2-3 rounds center mass- I don’t care who you are- if you aren’t wearing armor, you just lived your last couple minutes or your seriously regretting your life choices because for one, you aren’t fighting back, you aren’t capable of breathing and you more than likely have internal bleeding which will make you immediately nauseous beyond comprehension (especially if hit in the upper digestive system) or your hit in the diaphragm or liver. Yes, it’s 10x worst than being punched by Mike Tyson with a full forced, non blocked liver punch. It’s like being hit with a sledge hammer. Even with a little .22 round. Now imagine being liver punched and getting your breath back. Now imagine That 20 seconds of having the wind knocked out of you, only intensifies longer and longer and gets worse with intensity up until you are put under with general anesthesia. IF You make it that long and don’t bleed out from a liver shot. Your liver has some of the biggest internal blood vessels inside the organ itself…within the human body, only followed by the heart and kidneys.
@operatorchakkoty4257
@operatorchakkoty4257 Год назад
You absolutely can if you hit the thickest parts of the skull. Depends on age, too. Very young bones are softer, very old bones are brittle. Older bones are more likely to break/shatter while bones from someone in his prime can be used to fell a damn tree. If the angle is very flat, it'll just be a glancing shot. If the angle is 45ish, it'll shatter the bone more likely than it'll penetrate "cleanly". And of course hitting the eye at an upwards angle is the easiest way to get 22 into someone's brain.

One cartridge that gets no press is the .22 mag. You get twice the velocity of the .22 LR, and a choice of much better choice of bullets. I've owned a few ARs, but I'm setting up a Keltec CM-30 now, and it's a super light powerhouse. Perfect recon rifle

When studying Forensic Science, my professors often talked about the deadly effects and how .22’s are often used by hitmen and for short range executions for a number of reasons: they are quiet, cheap, tend to not overpenetrate, and may not exit the skull when pressed directly against it. Further, they distinctly lack the head explosion that larger calibers cause, which means less blood mess to clean up and less potential splatter. A suppressed, subsonic .22 is an ideal weapon for point blank (less than 3 ft of separation realistically) killing, unfortunately. The slower speed makes the bullet more likely to bounce and thus cause more damage while amplifying the aforementioned benefits. Suffice to say we saw these most in hits.

Yeah, there is a reason why the Mossad used .22LR pistols for assassinations for years. The actual pistol they used for most of that time was actually illegal in the US, as it was tiny and had an integrated silencer (it literally sounds like a BB gun) that made it incompatible with US law.

It does more damage at 25 feet with the rifle because it has more time after it exits the rifled barrel to pick up more spin and it carries through better. I don't know if this applies for pistols since the barrel is so much shorter but I've been hunting with a 10/22 for over a decade and the sweet spot for 22lr in my opinion is between 20-50 yards and it'll drop a deer if shot in the right place.

Many people underestimate the lethality potential of the .22, but it is actually one of the most used caliber for assassinations. With good reason. It can be shot by compact weapons that can be easily silenced, offer very controllable rapid fire and the ammo as such offer a very unpredictable wound path and channel. Many say it has both a penetration and stopping power problem. The thing is: Does one really need those things if he already punctured the target's heart, lungs, stomach, liver or turned the his brain into a messy jelly mass? If used at 5-10 yards, it not only can be pretty lethal, but it is also a really horrible way to die.

thank you, my dad just "commited suicide" with a ".45" and there was no exit wound or a bullet hole in the walls or ceiling and aswell as his wallet was found down the street with no money and blood hand prints smeared on the walls like he was trying to get help, he also was texting his cousins saying he couldn't leave ohio to get away because someone is trying to kill him, then he said they said they are going to make it look like a suicide, and this is in Burlington Ohio, James Christopher Brown, near southpoint ohio, he was found by his friends/neighbors because they didnt see him for a few days and they got worried.

My plan with .22, .25 ACP, .32 ACP, 32 S&W Long, and probably 380 ACP, is empty the magazine into the assailant's face. Lotsa soft stuff there allowing access to the control center. Good advice gleaned from Masad Ayoob.

Yea boi. However I was recruited for the boy scouts along with my friend group at the rifle range. We were all like 16 so it was weird, the troop was desperate for kids considering they only had one boy who was already far along the path to make Eagle. They would have shut down if it weren't for us. Lord I remember his Eagle Scout Project. I vividly recall standing on a chair rolling paint on the ceiling as it dripped down in my eyes while he sat on his phone. The project was simply painting the church basement's ceiling. The boy scout before him managed to reconnect lost graves/tombstones of African Americans to their family, people crying from the sheer emotion of finally finding their lost family. Fucking painting the ceiling with a roller brush, pathetic even if he did half the work which he did not. Honestly didn't deserve getting Eagle but I'm glad he did. He should have been grateful to our friend group, we all tried real hard to connect with him, he didn't. I remember he would get real smart about some shit. He also got into a college he most likely did not deserve, Eagle and affirmative action make one a shoe in.

At a local gun store a seventy year old man showed his .22 lr 3 shot pistol to those of us standing around. He asked the crowd their opinion of using that weapon for self-defense. Most of the guys kind of berated him for using such a small caliber weapon. Remarks such as cute pea shooter pops and if you shot someone with that little thing it would probably just bounce off. He then put several $100 bills on the counter and declared anyone who would let him shoot them at 75 yards in the leg could keep the money......no one took his offer...

@Garand Thumb so, been going back and forth as to whether or not to post this comment. Hollow point rounds are velocity driven, so if a hollow point is moving too slow, it will not expand. If a hollow point has sufficient velocity, it will expand. Hence why at short range, the hollow point hadn't slowed down enough to drop below expansion threshold. At longer ranges from a pistol barrel, enough atmospheric resistance caused the round to drop below expansion threshold, resulting in behavior likened to that of a FMJ.

.22 is also the most dangerous because a lot of people treat it like it can’t kill you because of how small it is. Edit: I’m glad I could bring this to this many peoples knowledge. Any firearm could kill you if it’s pointed in the wrong direction. Stay safe and keep others safe out there.
